    41. GLP-1s: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

GLP-1 medications tend to get talked about in extremes. They’re either miracle drugs that solve the weight problem, or they’re dangerous shortcuts people should avoid. In this episode, I get out of those two camps and talk about what these medications can actually do, and where things can go wrong when the medication becomes the entire strategy. You’ll hear about the significant weight-loss and health benefits being seen with GLP-1 medications, but also the other side of the conversation: GI side effects, inadequate nutrition, loss of lean mass, and what can happen when the medication is discontinued. I'll explain why protein alone isn’t enough to protect muscle, why resistance training matters, and why your maintenance plan should start long before you reach your goal weight. The goal isn’t to become the lightest version of yourself. It’s to become healthier, stronger, and more metabolically resilient. 40. The Protein Paradox: Why More Protein Isn't Always Better

Protein is important, but somewhere along the way, “eat enough protein” turned into “put protein in everything.” Protein cereal, protein chips, protein cookies, protein coffee, protein bars…the list goes on. In this episode, I explain why a food having 20 grams of protein doesn’t automatically make it a healthy choice and why simply adding more protein products to your existing diet can actually work against your goals. This becomes even more important if you’re taking a GLP-1. With a reduced appetite, you have less nutritional “real estate,” which means every bite needs to do more for you. I'll break down protein quality, why resistance training is just as important as protein for preserving muscle, how individual protein needs can vary, and what a nutrient-dense meal actually looks like. The goal isn’t to win a protein-eating contest, it’s to lose fat while protecting your muscle, metabolism, and long-term health. 39. Alcohol & Your Thyroid: Do You Really Need to Give It Up?

If you have Hashimoto’s or hypothyroidism, do you really need to give up alcohol to improve your thyroid health? The answer isn’t as simple as “alcohol is bad for your thyroid.” In this episode, I’m breaking down what we actually know about alcohol and thyroid function, and why I’m often more interested in what alcohol is doing to your sleep, energy, blood sugar, metabolism, digestion, and recovery. We’ll talk about how alcohol interacts with the brain-thyroid connection, liver and thyroid hormone metabolism, why research on alcohol and thyroid health isn’t as straightforward as social media makes it sound, and when temporarily removing alcohol may give you useful information about your body. You’ll also learn what to pay attention to if you decide to take a break from alcohol, how to reintroduce it intentionally, and why the better question may not be, “Am I allowed to drink?” but “Is it worth the way I feel afterward?” If you’re dealing with fatigue, poor sleep, weight-loss resistance, Hashimoto’s, blood sugar issues, or simply feel like your body isn’t responding the way it used to, this episode will help you look at alcohol through a different lens. 38. The GLP-1 Mistakes That Could Cost You Muscle, Metabolism & Long-Term Results

GLP-1 medications can be a powerful tool for weight loss, blood sugar regulation, and reducing food noise, but they aren't the whole solution. In this episode, I explain some of the common struggles I'm seeing with women taking GLP-1 medications, including rapid weight loss, significant side effects, difficulty eating enough, and losing too much muscle. I explain why simply taking the medication without addressing nutrition, lifestyle, and long-term habits can make it much harder to maintain your results. I also break down why muscle preservation, gut health, nutrition, resistance training, and a plan for life after the medication need to be part of your GLP-1 strategy from the beginning. Whether you're considering a GLP-1, already taking one, or struggling with your results, this episode will help you understand why the medication should be viewed as a tool, not a quick fix, and how personalized support can help you get better, more sustainable results.
