Grief Lifted: Rising Above Through Faith

Myandi Peterson

About Myandi Peterson & Grief Lifted: Rising Above Through Faith Hi, I’m Myandi Peterson, your host and fellow traveler in grief. I created Grief Lifted after experiencing profound personal loss: in March 2025, I lost my mom, and just five months later, my dad passed away peacefully. In the midst of caring for my mom during her final months, and navigating the shock of losing my dad shortly after, I faced grief that reshaped my world. Along the way, I also lost other family members, leaving me to navigate life without the generation above me. This podcast is my heart — a space to share my journey through grief, faith, and hope, and to walk alongside others doing the same. Grief has layers, and while it may never fully leave us, I have found that Jesus walks with us through it, offering peace, love, and a hope that extends beyond this life. Grief Lifted is a safe place for fellow grievers — whether you’ve lost a parent, spouse, child, friend, pet, or dream. Here, we’ll talk openly about loss, share stories, explore scripture, and bring on guests who have navigated profound grief. These conversations are real, raw, and vulnerable, because walking through loss changes you, and growth through grief can be painful yet purposeful. I’m not a licensed counselor, but I bring a background in communications and broadcast journalism from Liberty University, and more importantly, lived experience in profound loss. My hope is that this podcast becomes a place of comfort, truth, and community — a place where we can grieve with hope, lean on Jesus, and learn to carry our sorrow with peace, love, and faith. Thank you for joining me on this journey. Stay tuned for future episodes, and know that you are not alone. Episode 30: Caring for the Whole You: Mind, Body & Soul Through Grief

In this special 30th episode and Season One finale of Grief Lifted: Rising Above Through Faith, I’m joined once again by my dear friend Kerian Gaston for an important conversation about caring for ourselves through grief, stress, and life’s difficult seasons. Grief doesn’t just affect our hearts—it impacts us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Kerian shares her expertise in health and wellness, helping us understand how our bodies respond to grief and prolonged stress, including the fight-or-flight response. She offers practical tips and tools involving nutrition, movement, rest, and calming our nervous systems to help our bodies recover and find balance, while I share my personal experiences with grief and the importance of caring for our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Together, we discuss the importance of giving ourselves grace, recognizing that it's okay to not be okay, and remembering that we don't have to navigate grief alone. We explore the value of seeking support, nurturing our faith through prayer, Scripture, and time with God, and maintaining an eternal perspective even when our hearts carry both joy and sorrow. As I close out Season One and take a little break until 2027, my hope is that this conversation encourages you to be intentional about caring for the whole person God created you to be. Taking care of yourself is not selfish, healing takes time, and even in our deepest grief, God is near. Our greatest hope is still ahead of us. 29.Grief After Losing a Husband: Erin’s Journey of Faith & Healing

In this deeply personal episode of Grief Lifted: Rising Above Through Faith, I sit down with my friend Erin Endersby as she courageously shares the story of her husband, Ryan, and the heartbreaking journey of losing him to suicide. Erin opens up about their love and marriage, Ryan’s struggles with mental health, the devastating impact of his loss, and what grief has looked like as she has learned to move forward while continuing to carry his memory with her. Together, we talk about faith, Heaven, hope, and how profound loss can change the way we see and live our lives. 27.Thomas Delaney: A Therapist’s Journey Through Loss, Grief, Faith & Hope

In this heartfelt episode of Grief Lifted: Rising Above Through Faith, I sit down with my friend and therapist, Thomas Delaney, to talk about grief from both a deeply personal and professional perspective. Thomas shares his story of losing his father while living in Liberia, the uncle who stepped in and became such an important father figure in his life, and the heartbreak of eventually caring for and losing him as well. We also talk about Thomas’s unique faith journey, including his years as a Catholic priest and how his experiences with loss have shaped the man and therapist he is today. Together, we explore what grief really looks like, why healing isn’t linear, and how faith can carry us through seasons when life feels unbearably heavy. Thomas offers wisdom from his work as a therapist while also speaking from the heart as someone who has walked through profound loss himself. Ultimately, this conversation is about love, grief, faith, and the hope that death is not the end—and that for those who believe, a beautiful reunion and eternity with Christ are still ahead. 25.When Heaven Becomes Personal: Grief, Hope & Randy Alcorn

In this episode of Grief Lifted: Rising Above Through Faith, I share how pastor and bestselling author Randy Alcorn has had a profound impact on my personal grief journey, particularly through his book Heaven. After losing both of my parents, Heaven became more than something I simply believed in—it became deeply personal. I found myself asking questions about where our loved ones are, what eternity will be like, whether we will recognize one another again, and what Scripture really tells us about the New Heaven and New Earth. We'll explore Randy's own journey of faith, ministry, loss, and the experiences that led him to study and write so extensively about eternity. Most importantly, I'll share how his biblical teachings have helped reshape the way I view the deaths of my mom and dad—not as the end of their stories, but as a temporary separation because of the hope we have in Jesus Christ. We grieve, but we do not grieve without hope. In this episode of Grief Lifted: Rising Above Through Faith, I’m joined by Cathy Williams, founder of Intuitive Self, joining me all the way from Melbourne, Australia. Cathy is an award-winning author, international speaker, facilitator and trainer specializing in Movement and Expressive Arts Therapy. Through Intuitive Self, she helps people reconnect with their bodies, emotions and inner wisdom through movement, creative expression, mindfulness and other body-based practices. We talk about the connection between the body, heart and mind, the importance of allowing ourselves to truly feel what we are experiencing, and how movement, art and creativity can become meaningful tools for healing and self-discovery.
