Esther’s Banquet — The Power of the Right Moment

Esther’s Banquet — The Power of the Right Moment Not Every Open Door Is the Right Door for Right Now We often pray for open doors. But sometimes wisdom means standing in front of an open door and waiting. Esther had finally done the terrifying thing. She approached the king without being summoned. The golden scepter was extended. Her life was spared. The king offered to grant her request—even up to half his kingdom. The opportunity was there. And Esther waited. Instead of immediately revealing Haman’s plot, Esther invited the king and Haman to a banquet. Then, when the king asked again what she wanted, she invited them to another banquet. Why wait when the door was already open? Because Esther understood something we often learn the hard way: wisdom is not only knowing what to do. It is knowing when to do it. In this episode of Digging Another Well, we look at the remarkable patience Esther demonstrates in chapters 5–7 and what her story teaches us about divine timing, discernment, leadership, patience, and waiting on God. Sometimes the opportunity in front of us is real—but the moment is not complete yet. Between Esther’s first banquet and her second, the king has a sleepless night. Mordecai is remembered. Haman is humiliated. The entire atmosphere shifts. Had Esther spoken earlier, the request would have been the same. But the moment would have been different. This devotional challenges us to distinguish between an available moment and an appointed one. Not every open door must be entered immediately. Not every conversation must happen today. Not every opportunity requires instant action. There is wisdom in waiting for the right moment. The King’s Sleepless Night

The King’s Sleepless Night When God Uses the Ordinary to Change Everything Sometimes the most significant move of God does not look supernatural at all. There is no angel. No burning bush. No audible voice from heaven. No sea parts and no wall falls. A king simply cannot sleep. Esther 6:1 may be one of the quietest turning points in Scripture. King Ahasuerus spends a restless night and asks for the royal records to be read. Buried inside those records is a forgotten act of faithfulness by Mordecai—an act that surfaces at exactly the moment it is needed. That sleepless night changes everything. In this episode of Digging Another Well, we explore the providence of God through one of the most ordinary moments in the book of Esther. We look at how God can use interruptions, delays, detours, forgotten conversations, unexpected circumstances, and seemingly insignificant moments to move His purposes forward. Most of us are conditioned to look for God in dramatic moments. But Scripture repeatedly shows us that His providence often works quietly. A sleepless night. A conversation. A delayed journey. A decision that seems insignificant at the time. The king had no idea why he could not sleep. Mordecai had no idea that his forgotten faithfulness was about to be remembered. Haman had no idea that the night was quietly rearranging his future. But God did. This devotional is a reminder to pay attention to the ordinary moments of your own life. The inconvenience you resent today may be positioning you for something you cannot yet see. The delay may not be meaningless. The unexpected turn may not be random. God does not need the spectacular to change your story. Primary Scripture: Esther 6:1 Key themes: God’s providence, Esther Bible study, God working behind the scenes, divine timing, trusting God, Christian encouragement, faith in uncertainty, God’s sovereignty, purpose, spiritual growth Digging Another Well is a Christian devotional podcast offering Bible study, biblical encouragement, and practical teaching to help believers grow in their walk with Jesus Christ through Scripture. Haman - The Danger of Unchecked Pride

Haman — The Danger of Unchecked Pride Haman had wealth, status, influence, and the favor of the king. Yet none of it was enough because one man refused to bow. In Esther 5, Haman reveals one of the great dangers of unchecked pride: it is never satisfied. Pride can take everything God has allowed us to accomplish and make it feel worthless because of the one thing—or person—we cannot control. In today’s devotional, we look at how pride disguises itself as confidence and success until it begins shaping our decisions, relationships, and ultimately our destruction. Haman built a gallows for Mordecai, never realizing that his own pride was building the instrument of his downfall. Where might pride be operating unnoticed in your life? Mordecai - The Man Who Would Not Bow

Mordecai: The Man Who Would Not Bow Series: Esther: The Unseen Hand of God Episode Summary Every believer eventually faces a moment when conviction becomes costly. Most people imagine faithfulness as standing firm when the choice is obvious. But the hardest moments usually come when compromise seems small, harmless, or even wise. Mordecai found himself in exactly that moment. Everyone else bowed. The law required it. The culture expected it. Yet Scripture simply says, “Mordecai bowed not.” In this episode, we examine what it means to hold your convictions when everyone around you has surrendered theirs, and why faithfulness under pressure is never wasted. Scripture Esther 3:2 “And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman… But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.” In This Episode Why compromise is rarely as small as it first appears. What Mordecai teaches us about conviction under pressure. Why standing alone is often part of faithful obedience. The long-term cost of small compromises.Trusting God when faithfulness is unpopular. Reflection Where are you being pressured to bow today? Faithfulness is not measured by how many people agree with you, but by whether you remain obedient to God when everyone else chooses another path.
