The Slow Work of Becoming Like Jesus | Phil Brookman

What does it really mean to follow Jesus? And what's the difference between trying to earn salvation and putting in the effort to become more like Him? In this episode of the Winterfest Podcast, David Skidmore and Drew Chancey sit down with longtime Winterfest speaker Phil Brookman to talk about spiritual formation, the power of consistency, and why following Jesus requires more than simply believing the right things. Together, they explore the difference between salvation and formation, the importance of spiritual disciplines, and how ordinary practices like prayer, Scripture, fasting, and Sabbath can shape us over a lifetime. In a culture obsessed with instant results and the next new thing, what if becoming more like Jesus is less about dramatic moments and more about the small, faithful decisions we make every day? Join us for a conversation about grace, effort, discipleship, and the lifelong journey of becoming more like Christ. #WinterfestPodcast #Discipleship #SpiritualFormation #FollowingJesus The Winterfest Podcast exists to help you live the greater things Jesus promised.

A Steadfast Heart: A Look Into Psalm 112

What does it look like to remain steady when life feels anything but? In this episode, David and Drew explore Psalm 112 and the picture it gives us of a person whose heart is steadfast, established, and unafraid of bad news. From anxiety and uncertainty to the constant noise of headlines, social media, and a rapidly changing world, they talk about what it means to build a life that isn't easily shaken. Along the way, they turn to Psalm 1 and Proverbs to talk about becoming deeply rooted in the Word of God, pursuing wisdom, and allowing the Lord to establish our hearts and our steps. A steadfast life isn't one without storms—it's a life rooted deeply enough to remain standing when the storms come. Plus, David and Drew settle the truly important question: which fast-food restaurant survives when only one can remain? 40 Years Later with Dudley Chancey

Forty years ago, Winterfest began as an idea. In this episode, we sit down with Dudley Chancey, one of the co-founders of Winterfest, to look back at where it all started, how it has changed over four decades, and some of the people and moments that shaped it along the way. We also look back at this past year of Winterfest and the theme “Greater,” reflecting on John 14 and what Jesus meant when he told his disciples that those who believe in him would do “greater works.” From the earliest days of Winterfest to where it is today, this conversation is about remembering what God has done, reflecting on what we’ve learned, and looking toward what comes next.
