    The Fort Hood Shooter, a Firing Squad, and What Scripture Says

    The Pentagon has scheduled a firing squad execution for December 3rd — and there’s talk of live streaming it. The guys dig into the case of Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting that killed 13 soldiers, and wrestle with the question underneath it all: what does God actually say about capital punishment, and does putting it on a screen serve justice or just feed a circus? Joining them is Sean O’Connor, filmmaker and media production professor at Cedarville University, who’s writing a screenplay about Christian radio and spent the week at the Dove Awards in Nashville. He pulls back the curtain on what those glamorous award shows really look like from the cheap seats.     Madness is everywhere, and this week the guys chase it down three different ways. It starts small. A guy pulls out his phone to film a traffic jam he isn't even stuck in, and complains about something that never touched him. That's the world we live in. Philippians 4:8 says think on what's true, noble, and lovely, but gratitude doesn't come naturally, and negativity sells papers. Then it gets closer to home. New Gallup research says 61% of teachers believe students spend too much time on screens. The guys dig into why video games beat out books, youth group, and playing outside every single time, why the decision-making part of a kid's brain is now maturing later than it used to, and why checking your own TikTok tells you nothing about what your child is being shown.     The whole country stopped for a celebrity last week. Profile pictures changed. Networks went wall to wall.
