Plane Talk Live

Stan Snyder

Plane Talk Live sponsored by Jets West, is an independent aviation business podcast exploring how aircraft are actually bought, sold, financed, and positioned in today’s market.  From piston singles to turboprops to light and mid-size jets, each episode breaks down real transaction case studies, market intelligence, valuation strategy, maintenance optics, and the structural differences between listing an aircraft — and successfully closing one.  Hosted in an analytical, third-party format, Plane Talk Live examines the systems, timing decisions, and execution frameworks that separate stalled listings from accelerated closings.  If you own an aircraft — or are considering entering or exiting the market — this is where strategy replaces speculation.  To see the services and inventory available today, please visit: goJetsWest.com

THOUGHTFUL GIVING; Giving Generously Is Good. Giving Wisely Is Better.

Send us Fan Mail    Every year, Americans generously open their hearts and wallets to support causes they believe in. From helping seriously ill children at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to supporting aviation ministries that deliver medicine, food, humanitarian aid, and hope to some of the world's most isolated communities, charitable giving has the power to transform lives. But here's a question worth asking: How much of your donation actually reaches the people you're trying to help? Not all charities operate alike. Some demonstrate extraordinary stewardship and measurable results. Others raise important questions about fundraising expenses, administrative overhead, transparency, and accountability. In this thought-provoking episode of PlaneTalk Live, we explore the importance of giving with both your heart and your head. We'll discuss how to evaluate charitable organizations, examine financial transparency, recognize potential warning signs, and find independent resources that help donors make informed decisions. We'll also shine a light on the remarkable role aviation can play in humanitarian outreach, where an aircraft can become a lifeline to communities otherwise beyond reach. The message isn't to give less. It's to make every dollar count more. Before you write your next charitable check, listen to this episode. You may never look at charitable giving quite the same way again. PlaneTalk Live | Conversations That Inform, Inspire & Make a Difference. THE FLIGHT SCHOOL CLOSED. THE LOAN DIDN’T.

Send us Fan Mail     For aspiring professional pilots and their parents, the dream can require an enormous financial commitment—sometimes approaching $100,000 for a professional flight-training program. But what happens when that money is paid upfront and the school closes before the promised training is completed? The airplanes stop flying. The instruction stops. The school may be gone. But the loan isn't. In this important edition of Plane Talk Live, Jason Zilberbrand of VREF discusses a flight-training failure that left students and their families facing substantial financial losses and debt, followed by criminal charges arising from the situation. The individual story is disturbing. The larger lesson may be even more important. Students and parents considering professional flight training need to understand not only the cost of a program, but where their money goes, how prepaid tuition is protected, what happens if training isn't delivered, and what financial exposure remains if the school fails. Why prepay nearly $100,000 if there are safer ways to structure the training? What questions should parents ask before signing? What protections should students look for? And what warning signs deserve closer examination before the money changes hands? This isn't an argument against professional flight training. Thousands of aspiring pilots need quality schools and financing to pursue their careers. It's an argument for understanding the financial risk before committing a life-changing amount of money. Jason brings decades of aviation experience to a conversation every aspiring professional pilot—and every parent helping fund that dream—should hear. ARE LEGACY CITATION PRICES ABOUT TO PLUMMET?

Send us Fan Mail      A major change in the single-pilot landscape could create something we haven't seen in years: A genuine buyer's market for certain legacy Citation jets. For an owner who purchased a Citation specifically because it could be operated single-pilot, adding a required second crewmember changes the economics dramatically. And when operating economics change, aircraft values can change with them. Some owners may decide it's time to sell. More airplanes could come to market. Days-on-market could increase. And motivated sellers may become considerably more flexible on price. That's where this gets interesting for buyers. A Citation that suddenly makes less sense for one owner may make a lot of sense for another buyer who already plans to operate with two pilots. The airplane hasn't suddenly lost its speed, range, cabin or capability. The economics changed. And market disruptions like this can create opportunities for buyers who understand what they're looking at. On this edition of Plane Talk Live, we look beyond the FAA story and ask the question aircraft buyers really want answered: Could some legacy Citations be headed for bargain territory? 🎙️ Listen to Plane Talk Live: JetsWest.com/Live #PlaneTalkLive #Citation #CessnaCitation #BusinessAviation #PrivateJets #AircraftForSale #AircraftAcquisition #Aviation #JetsWest We invite aviation professionals with knowledge to share, to be a guest on our program. Lycoming: The Indestructible Heart of American Aviation

Send us Fan Mail     This text explores the history and endurance of Lycoming, a manufacturer whose mid-century engine designs remain the primary power source for American general aviation. Despite technological leaps in other industries,        The company’s air-cooled, horizontally opposed piston engines have persisted due to a complex web of FAA regulations, high certification costs, and legal liability issues. The narrative traces Lycoming’s evolution from an automotive engine builder to a dominant aviation force, highlighting the mechanical simplicity and modularity that created a vast, loyal infrastructure of pilots and mechanics.     While these engines are criticized for their reliance on leaded fuel and outdated technology, they are celebrated for their reliability and ease of maintenance. Ultimately, the source portrays the Lycoming engine as a mechanical time capsule that survives because it is too deeply embedded in the regulatory and cultural fabric of flight to be replaced. Underneath the modern carbon-fiber frames of today's light aircraft, these 1950s-era "antiques" represent a unique American legacy of industrial preservation.  We invite aviation professionals with knowledge to share, to be a guest on our program.
