    Ep. 35 - Trump's $5000 Stimulus check | Everyone Knows

President Trump says every adult citizen gets five thousand dollars if Republicans win the House and the Senate in November. For a married couple, that is ten thousand dollars. Here’s what actually stands behind the promise. Trump’s $5,000 Check: Who Gets It, Who Pays for It and What Happened Last Time | Everyone Knows Ep. 35 Everyone Knows | Episode 35 | Starborne Studios This week President Trump went on camera and promised five thousand dollars to every adult citizen in America, calling it a dividend paid for by tariffs. It is at least the fourth time he has made the promise since September, and it is tied to one condition: Republicans keeping both the House and the Senate. Brian lays out who would get the check, how it would get through Congress, where more than a trillion dollars would come from, and what happened the last time Washington mailed money to almost every adult in the country. Three parts. All of them matter. FIRST, the promise. What the President said, how the pledge moved from every citizen to adults only and why Vice President Vance calls it a dividend for workers. Brian walks through what has to happen in Congress for a check to go out, including the budget reconciliation route that needs only fifty one Senate votes. He also separates the five thousand dollar promise from the two payments actually going out this month: ninety dollars for some Medicare enrollees and a five hundred dollar refund for nearly one million Obamacare customers. SECOND, the money. One round of checks costs about one point two trillion dollars. Tariffs brought in about one hundred and ninety five billion dollars last year. In February the Supreme Court struck down the emergency tariffs that made up about half of that money, refunds started going out, and in June net tariff revenue went negative for the first time in American history. Brian covers the deficit estimates, the case supporters make for the plan, and the only realistic ways left to pay for it. THIRD, the last time. The COVID checks of twenty twenty, the American Rescue Plan of twenty twenty one, the fourteen hundred dollar checks, and the union pension bailout buried inside that bill. Then inflation hit nine point one percent, mortgage rates more than doubled, and prices rose about twenty percent in four years. Brian goes through what economists at the San Francisco Federal Reserve found about how much of that came from the spending, the two thousand dollar dividend promised last fall, and where he lands on the five thousand dollar check. Ep. 34 -2026 Midterms Elections: The Senate Races That Decide Everything | Everyone Knows

The Democrat running for Senate in Texas has raised more than seventy million dollars. About half of his early money came from outside Texas. Here's who is really paying for the 2026 midterms. 2026 Midterms: The Senate Races, the Stock Ban and the Democrats' Plan | Everyone Knows Ep. 34 Everyone Knows | Episode 34 | Starborne Studios Election Day is November third, and early voting has already started in some states. Republicans hold the Senate fifty-three to forty-seven and the House two hundred twenty to two hundred thirteen. A handful of races decide who runs both. Brian lays out who is running, who is paying for it, and what the Democrats say they will do if they win. Three parts. All of them matter. FIRST, the Senate. In Texas, Ken Paxton, impeached by the Texas House and acquitted on every charge, faces James Talarico, who raised twenty seven million dollars in one quarter and thirty million in the next, much of it from California and New York, plus a Hollywood fundraiser in Los Angeles. In Maine, Democrats replaced their first nominee in July, and Susan Collins goes for a sixth term. In North Carolina, Roy Cooper answers for the thirty-five hundred inmates his administration let out early. Then Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, Alaska and Iowa. SECOND, the House. Senate Democrats blocked a stock trading ban that passed the House two hundred thirty-two to one hundred ninety-eight and that eight in ten Americans want, along with photo ID to vote. Then the map war that Texas started and California answered. Then the Social Security line every Democrat is running, checked against what the bill actually did, and the real reason Obamacare premiums jumped: Democrats wrote the end date into their own law. THIRD, the Democrats' plan. Lower costs with no numbers, from Chuck Schumer on down. Investigations of the President's family with names already attached and letters already going out. Ending the filibuster, two new states, four new senators and a thirteen seat Supreme Court. Then the record from the last time they had full control: Build Back Better, the American Rescue Plan, nine-point one percent inflation and "that didn't stop me." Plus the jobs, crime and border numbers Republicans are running on. A straight read on what is happening and what it means for regular people. No theatrics, no party line, no soft edges. Ep. 33 - Cuba in the Dark: The US Military Buildup, the Blackouts, and How It Ends | Everyone Knows

On March 16, every light in Cuba went out at once. Eleven million people sat in the dark for more than a day, ninety miles from Florida, while an American aircraft carrier moved into the Caribbean. Cuba in the Dark: The US Military Buildup, the Blackouts, and How It Ends | Everyone Knows Ep. 33 Everyone Knows | Episode 33 | Starborne Studios A carrier strike group in the Caribbean. A federal murder indictment against Raul Castro. An Army Reserve message asking what units could be ready in ninety to one hundred and twenty days. Havana living on fifteen hours of blackout a day, with no fuel left to run the water pumps. Brian Bullock goes through what the United States has actually put in the water, how an island this close to home ran completely out of oil, and where all of it is heading. Three parts. All of them matter. FIRST, the buildup. The Nimitz strike group entered the Caribbean on May 20, the same day the Justice Department charged Raul Castro over the 1996 shootdown of two Brothers to the Rescue planes that killed four men. Nine days later the commander of Southern Command sat down with Cuban generals at the fence line at Guantanamo Bay. Then came the Army Reserve message this week. Brian takes each piece for what it is and what it is not, including the drone story that got a lot of play and the one thing Havana has conspicuously not done. He also sets the warships beside the other track running at the same time, the Secretary of State saying on the record that Washington is open to talking. SECOND, how the island ran dry. The Soviet Union propped Cuba up for thirty years, and when it collapsed Cubans lived through the Special Period, oxen back in the fields and people leaving on anything that floated. Venezuela replaced Moscow with up to a hundred thousand barrels of oil a day, until this January, when the oil stopped. Brian walks through what happened to the grid after that, what no power means inside a house, the law passed after the 1996 shootdown that took the embargo out of any president's hands, and why the country that ran on sugar now imports it. THIRD, what happens next. There are only a handful of ways this ends, and Brian lays every one of them out plainly, including the one almost nobody mentions, which is written into American law and quietly rules out the deal most people assume is possible. The deciding piece is not in Havana's speeches or Washington's warnings. It is sitting inside the Cuban military itself. Everyone Knows is one man reading the story straight. Who benefits, who gets hurt, why now, and what happens next. No panel, no talking points, no hedging. If you're tired of the spin, you're in the right place. Ep. 32 -White House Press Ban: CNN, Politico, MS NOW and Trump TV | Everyone Knows

Three newsrooms lost a desk. The networks called it the end of a free press. Here's what actually happened.White House Press Ban: CNN, Politico, MS NOW and Trump TV | Everyone Knows Ep. 32Everyone Knows | Episode 32 | Starborne StudiosOn Saturday, September nineteenth, reporters from CNN, MS NOW and Politico showed up at the White House gate and had their press badges taken. Two days later, ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox refused to cover the president in solidarity, the three outlets sued, and the White House switched on its own around the clock stream, Trump TV. Brian lays out what the ban is, what it is not, and the record the networks would rather you forgot.Three parts. All of them matter.FIRST, what really happened. Only three outlets lost their passes, and every one of them can still report whatever it wants. Brian walks through Trump's reasons, Vance's "it's not a ban," and the day the networks went dark and left Americans unable to hear the president at his own ribbon cutting. Then the lawsuit, the Trump-appointed judge who handled the Jim Acosta fight in 2018, Wednesday's hearing, and the appeals court ruling in the AP's Gulf of America case that already sided with the White House on who gets into the Oval Office and onto Air Force One.SECOND, Trump TV and the record behind the complaint. Presidents have gone around the press since Roosevelt's fireside chats, and Trump TV is one more choice for viewers, not a replacement. Then the numbers: Vance says ninety two percent of these outlets' coverage is negative, and a Harvard study put CNN and NBC at ninety three. Then the receipts. ABC paid fifteen million dollars over George Stephanopoulos. CBS paid sixteen million over the Kamala Harris interview. The BBC admitted splicing Trump's January sixth speech and now faces a ten billion dollar lawsuit. CNN retracted, corrected and settled more than once, MSNBC retracted a story on the air, and Politico ran the Hunter Biden laptop disinformation headline.THIRD, a free press versus a free desk. What the First Amendment actually says, where the briefing room came from, and why the Pentagon walkout proved reporting goes on without a badge. The outlets' strongest legal argument, answered plainly. What the Obama White House did to Fox and to AP reporters' phone records, and why that was a real threat and this is not. Trust in the media at a record low. Then a straight answer for everyone crying crackdown.A straight read on what is happening and what it means for regular people. No theatrics, no party line, no soft edges. Ep. 31 - Diesel Hits $6 a Gallon: Why Fuel Prices Exploded and Who Controls the World's Oil Routes | Everyone Knows

Six dollars a gallon. First time in American history. And the reason is not the one you were told. Diesel Hits $6 a Gallon and the Two Straits That Control the World's Oil | Everyone Knows Ep. 31 Everyone Knows | Episode 31 | Starborne Studios On Friday, September eleventh, AAA reported the national average for diesel had passed six dollars for the first time ever. Six dollars and six cents. Third record in a week. A year ago, it was three seventy. Half a world away, an Iranian-backed militia took an island in one of the two narrow gaps that carry a large share of the planet's oil, and the other gap has been near a standstill since February. Brian connects the water to the pump, then goes where most coverage will not. Three parts. All of them matter. FIRST, the two straits and who holds them now. The Houthis took the port of Mocha, then crossed by boat and took Perim, the island that splits the Bab el-Mandeb into two shipping lanes. Eighteen miles wide at the narrowest point, and twelve percent of global trade moves through. The Yemeni battalions there stood at twenty percent of their paper strength. The rest were names on a roster drawing a salary. American-built armored trucks were left parked where they sat, and the Houthis are driving them through town on camera now. At the other end, Hormuz has been nearly shut since the war with Iran began, and the Saudi pipeline built to bypass it was hit Friday by drones out of Iraq. That pipeline was the workaround for the first strait, and the second is the exit it feeds. Brian walks through who armed this, who benefits, and why one Chinese tanker sailed the blockade untouched. SECOND, what happened at your pump and why diesel got hit harder than gasoline. California came in at seven ninety-eight. Oklahoma at five sixty. That spread is not the war, it is state policy, and Brian explains which is which. Then the part most coverage skips. Crude is not the reason diesel is where it is. The refineries are. Five million barrels a day of refining capacity is offline worldwide, and more oil out of the ground does not make cheaper fuel when the bottleneck is the machinery that turns it into diesel. Diesel is what the country runs on, and when it goes up it rides along on every item in every store, because it got there on a truck. And it lands in the middle of harvest. THIRD, the part nobody wants to put a number on. There is a cost to keeping those waterways open that never shows up at the pump, and it is running out faster than we can replace it. Brian puts the arithmetic on the table. Stay to the end. A straight read on what is happening and what it means for regular people. No theatrics, no party line, no soft edges. Ep. 30 - Lindsay Clancy And What A Mistrial Means | Everyone Knows

Two million Americans went to Google on Friday and typed the same four words. What does a mistrial mean. The Lindsay Clancy Mistrial, and What a Hung Jury Actually Means | Everyone Knows Ep. 30 Everyone Knows | Episode 30 | Starborne Studios A six week murder trial in Massachusetts ended without a verdict, and most of the country did not understand what it had just watched. Not because people are stupid. Because almost nobody is ever taught how this part works, and the coverage moved on before it explained anything. Brian Bullock walks it through from the beginning, in plain English, with no legal degree required and no spin on either side of it. Three parts. All of them matter. FIRST, what actually happened in that house in Duxbury, and what the jury was really being asked. Here is the part most people never understood: her own attorney never argued she did not do it. Not once. He stood up and told the jury flat out that Lindsay Clancy killed those three children. There was no whodunit, no alternate suspect, no fight over forensics. The entire trial turned on a completely different question, one American courts have treated as separate for a very long time, and if you did not know that going in, the ending would not make any sense to you. SECOND, what a mistrial is and what happens next. Twelve to zero or nothing, on every count, on its own. Why the judge has to declare one when a jury deadlocks, why double jeopardy does not stop the state from trying again, and what manifest necessity means. There are three doors open right now and only three. Brian lays out all of them, including what the District Attorney said outside the courthouse, what the defense attorney answered in three words when he was asked about a second trial, and the one unusual request he would make if it happens. Massachusetts has two recent cases that ran this exact road and ended in opposite places, and both are worth knowing before anybody starts predicting. THIRD, the question underneath all of it. Twelve reasonable adults sat through the same six weeks and heard the same eighty witnesses. Seven days of deliberation and they could not land in the same place on a single count. Brian gets into why, and it is not because any of them were foolish or not paying attention. It is the part of this story that should stay with you long after the verdict question is settled. Ep. 29 - What the $40 Trillion National Debt Actually Costs You | Everyone Knows

On August 18 the national debt of the United States passed $40 trillion. It took two hundred years to borrow the first one. The last one took five months. America Owes $40 Trillion | Everyone Knows Ep. 29 Everyone Knows | Episode 29 | Starborne Studios The Treasury publishes what this government owes every business day, and on August 18 it came in at forty trillion dollars and change. Fox Business ran it. So did NPR and the AP. Left, right and center, same figure, because it is not a projection. It is a bank balance. Nobody disputes the number. Every fight you hear about it is over whose fault it is. Brian Bullock skips that fight and goes after the part nobody explains. Three parts. All of them matter. FIRST, who we actually owe this money to. Most people picture China holding the paper. Wrong. The largest share sits with American pension funds, insurance companies, banks, and retirees holding Treasury bonds. Back in March the debt held by the public passed the size of the whole American economy, which has not happened since 1946, when we were paying off the Second World War. This time we did it in peacetime. Washington takes in about five trillion a year and spends about seven. It borrows about six billion dollars a day, and over half of that is interest on debt we already have. Foreign aid, the thing everybody names first when asked what to cut, is under one percent. SECOND, what the interest is doing to you. Net interest now runs about a trillion dollars a year, more than this country spends on its entire national defense. Every ship, every plane, every base, every paycheck, and the finance charge is bigger. Every other dollar in that budget buys something. Interest buys nothing. It is up more than a hundred and fifty percent since 2019, and it reaches your kitchen table, because when Washington borrows two trillion a year it stands in the same line you do for a mortgage. Then there is the receipt. All three credit rating agencies have marked this country down, including one that held us at the top since 1917. All three gave the same reason, and it was not a war or a recession. THIRD, the part that should make you angry. Everybody says nobody has ever tried to fix this. Not true. They have tried, over and over, across forty years, and there is a pattern in how each one died. There is also one stretch in living memory when this country balanced its books four years running, and the reason it worked is not what either party tells you. Brian lays out what got broken, who benefits from keeping it that way, and the two questions to put to any politician who claims to be serious about the debt. Both parties built this. Neither one will own it. If you're tired of the spin, you're in the right place. Ep. 28 - Who's Spending $517 Million on Congress This Year | Everyone Knows

$517 million into House and Senate races, and the biggest spenders are not oil or pharma. Three of the top four did not exist twenty years ago. Who Bought Congress and the Law They're Buying | Everyone Knows Ep. 28 Everyone Knows | Episode 28 | Starborne Studios The old record was $461 million, and that covered an entire presidential year. We are at $517 million with two months to go. At least $294 million came from four sectors, and one built a scorecard ranking your congressman on how well he lines up with their agenda. Brian Bullock pulls the filings apart, follows the money into the primaries where it decides things, and lays out the rule it is all being spent to buy. Three parts. All of them matter. FIRST, the money and the scorecard. Crypto, artificial intelligence, big tech and online sports betting are now the four biggest corporate political spenders in the country. Brian walks the playbook crypto wrote in 2024, when Fairshake took out an eighteen year Senate Banking chairman in Ohio and funded two Democrats elsewhere the same cycle. Party was never the point. AI copied it. Leading the Future raised roughly $140 million, most of it from a handful of men. A second group announced it will spend over $100 million and built a congressional scorecard, funded by the industry doing the scoring. Then the detail that sticks. Those ads never mention artificial intelligence. Reporters checked hundreds. SECOND, preemption, and what one word erases. Washington passes a national rule and every state law on the subject stops working. Last year a ten year freeze on state AI laws passed the House, tied to $42 billion in rural broadband money as leverage. Then at 4:30 in the morning on July 1st, the Senate voted 99 to 1 to strip it out. They cannot get ninety nine votes to name a post office. Brian gets into who killed it, why a Tennessee senator walked away from a compromise she had negotiated, and how seventeen Republican governors, forty state attorneys general and the Heritage Foundation ended up on the same side. Five months later it came back as an executive order. THIRD, the fight nobody is covering, and it is not the one you have been told about. This is not progressives yelling about billionaires. It starts in a high school gym in a town of fourteen thousand, residents at a microphone asking their city council questions it could not answer. The names on this side are ones you would not expect, taking real incoming from their own party. Brian names every one, and ends with the question to put to your congressman that he cannot dodge.
