For the Mom Who Is Tired of Hearing Herself Yell Episode 77

Have you ever heard yourself yelling at your kids and immediately wished you could take it back? You start out asking nicely. Then you repeat yourself. Then the frustration builds, your voice gets louder, and suddenly you're yelling again. And afterward comes the guilt. In this third episode of our motherhood series, we're talking about something many moms experience but don't always admit: the exhaustion, overstimulation, and emotional overload that can lead to yelling. Yelling isn't something we should ignore, but beating yourself up afterward doesn't help you change the pattern either. In this honest, compassionate conversation, Angie explores why yelling is often the final result of a much longer chain of stressors, how to recognize your warning signs, and why repairing the relationship after a difficult moment matters. Why yelling is often a symptom of emotional overload The difference between understanding your triggers and excusing your behavior How exhaustion, anxiety, stress, and unrealistic expectations affect patience Recognizing your body's warning signs before you lose your temper Simple ways to pause before reacting Why apologizing to your children doesn't weaken your authority How to let go of mom guilt without avoiding accountability Why connection and repair matter more than perfection One difficult moment does not define your motherhood. You can have boundaries without yelling. You can make mistakes and repair them. You can recognize patterns and learn healthier ways to respond. You don't have to be a perfect mom to be a loving, present, and intentional one. In the next episode of our motherhood series, we're talking about what happens when your child says, "I hate you," "I don't love you," or "I don't want you to be my mom." Because even when we understand that children say hurtful things when they're overwhelmed, those words can still hurt. If this episode resonated with you, share it with another mom who might need some encouragement today. Make Room for Abundance: The Life You're Inviting In- Episode 76

What if things go right? What if the life you've been dreaming about is still possible? What if your most beautiful, peaceful, abundant days are still ahead of you? In today's Sunday Faith episode of Life by Design, we're talking about the power of positivity, the energy we bring into the world, and how faith, gratitude, and intentional choices help us create room for abundance. I've always believed that the energy we put into the world matters. But abundance isn't just about money, success, or material possessions. It's about freedom, meaningful relationships, peace, purpose, and having the time to enjoy the life we're working so hard to build. I'm sharing what my own vision of abundance looks like, why I believe we're allowed to dream big, and how we can remain hopeful even after experiencing loss, disappointment, and difficult seasons. In this episode, we'll explore: Why positive thinking and positive expectations matter The difference between faith and simply wishing for good things What living abundantly really means Making room for blessings by releasing what no longer serves us Pursuing financial freedom without sacrificing peace Choosing gratitude while still dreaming of more Trusting God even when life doesn't unfold as planned Scriptures referenced: Proverbs 23:7 John 10:10 Philippians 4:6 2 Corinthians 10:5 Daniel 3:17–18 Galatians 6:9 A thought to carry with you this week: "I am making room for a beautiful, abundant life. I am grateful for what I have, hopeful about what's ahead, and willing to do my part to create the life I envision." You don't have to choose between success and peace. You can pursue both. And maybe the most important question isn't whether you're capable of creating a beautiful life. Maybe it's whether you're willing to believe that beautiful things are still possible for you. When You Can Feel Something Shifting, but You Can’t See It Yet Episode 75

Have you ever felt like something in your life was shifting—even though you couldn't explain what was changing? Nothing has happened yet. There isn't a clear answer, an obvious open door, or a detailed plan from God. You simply know that something feels different. In today's Sunday faith episode of Life by Design, Angie talks about what it means to trust God when you can't see the next chapter. On the eve of leaving for Germany and just days before turning 50, Angie reflects on what it feels like to stand between where you've been and wherever God may be leading you next. As she prepares to walk through places connected to her father's and grandparents' lives, she's reminded that the people who came before us also lived their stories without knowing how the next chapter would unfold. Through four powerful moments in Scripture, we look at how people in biblical times faced the same uncertainty we experience today. Abraham left home without knowing exactly where God was taking him. The Israelites stood at the Red Sea with an army behind them and no visible road ahead. Joseph endured betrayal, imprisonment, and years of uncertainty without knowing how God would eventually redeem his story. And after Jesus' crucifixion, His followers experienced the darkness of Saturday without knowing what Sunday morning would bring. We know how those stories end. They didn't. And that's an important reminder for us because we don't know how our stories end either. You haven't read next month yet. You haven't read next year. You haven't met everyone you're still going to meet. You don't know which doors will open, which prayers will be answered differently than you expected, or how God may use the things you've already survived. Maybe faith isn't having the entire map. Maybe faith is simply trusting God enough to take the next step. Hebrews 11:8 — Abraham obeyed God's call and went, even though he did not know where he was going. Exodus 14:13–14 — Israel stood before the Red Sea with no visible way forward and was reminded that the Lord would fight for them. Genesis 50:20 — Joseph looked back on what had been intended for evil and recognized God's ability to redeem it for good. John 20:1 — Mary arrived at the tomb while it was still dark, not yet understanding what God had already done. What is the next faithful step in front of me? You don't have to figure out your entire life today. You don't have to know how the story ends. You only have to be faithful with the page you're living right now. Because the God who was faithful on every page behind you is already present on every page ahead of you. Life by Design with Angela Weiss Faith. Healing. Growth. Becoming who God created you to be. You're Not A Bad Mom, You're Drowning - Episode 73

If you’ve ever sat in your car because you needed five more minutes before walking into the house, cried in the shower, felt like all you do is correct your kids, or wondered why you seem to be failing at motherhood, this episode is for you. In this episode of Life by Design, I’m talking about the side of motherhood we don’t see enough of—the exhaustion, guilt, overstimulation, financial stress, marriage stress, resentment, self-doubt, and those moments when you don’t want to die, you just want to disappear for a little while because you are so tired of being needed. We’re also talking about why social media can make motherhood feel lonelier than it already is, why loving your children deeply does not mean you have to love every moment of parenting, and why feeling overwhelmed is not the same thing as being a bad mom. This is the beginning of a deeper series I’ll be sharing over the next couple of months about real motherhood: yelling, guilt, shame, marriage, losing yourself, wanting a break, needing a village, and learning how to recognize when you are not failing—you are simply carrying too much. If you’re listening while driving to work, folding laundry, cleaning the kitchen, or sitting in the pickup line because that is the only time you have for yourself right now, you are exactly who I made this episode for. You are not alone. And you do not have to keep proving how strong you are by carrying everything by yourself. In this episode, we talk about: Why overwhelmed moms often mistake exhaustion for failureThe guilt that seems to come with every part of motherhoodWanting to “check out” versus wanting to dieCrying in the shower, driveway, or closet because you need somewhere to fall apartWhy social media highlights can distort how we see our own livesFeeling like you are failing your children, your husband, and yourselfWhy women need support from other women, especially moms farther down the roadWhy motherhood can be both the most rewarding and most painful role of your lifeThe importance of getting help before you completely break downPlease remember: This podcast is for education, encouragement, and general informational purposes only. It does not establish a provider-patient relationship and is not a substitute for individualized medical or mental health care. If you are having thoughts of suicide, self-harm, wishing you would not wake up, or feeling unable to keep yourself safe, call or text 988 in the United States or seek immediate emergency care. If this episode made you think of another mom, send it to her. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can say to another woman is simply: I see you. I thought of you. You are not alone. Follow Life by Design so you don’t miss the rest of this motherhood series.

Episode 70 — The Perimenopause Conversation, Part 3: Okay… What Can We Actually Do About It?

You know what perimenopause is. You know hormones can affect your mood, sleep, body, brain, and relationships. Now the big question: What can we actually do about it? In Part 3 of The Perimenopause Conversation, we’re talking about real treatment options and practical ways to feel better. In this episode: Hot flashes and night sweatsSleep problemsAnxiety, depression, and mood changesBrain fogHormone therapyNonhormonal medication optionsVaginal dryness, painful sex, and urinary symptomsWeight and body changesStrength training, nutrition, and alcoholSupplements and menopause marketingHow to prepare for your healthcare appointmentWhy treatment should be individualizedThe biggest takeaway? You do not get extra points for suffering. Perimenopause is common, but that doesn’t mean you have to quietly push through years of insomnia, anxiety, hot flashes, painful sex, or feeling like you’ve somehow become a stranger in your own body. There are options. And you don’t necessarily have to wait until your periods completely stop before talking with your provider about treatment. If you’ve been thinking, “I just don’t feel like myself anymore,” this episode is for you. Episode 67 — Part 1: Wait… Is This Perimenopause?Episode 69 — Part 2: When Hormones Affect Your Mental HealthEpisode 70 — Part 3: Okay… What Can We Actually Do About It? My upcoming book, Hot, Tired, and Slightly Unhinged, is taking this conversation even further. It’s a funny, honest, practical look at perimenopause and menopause—including hormones, mental health, sleep, brain fog, body changes, sex, relationships, and those moments when you walk into a room and have absolutely no clue why you’re there. More coming soon. Follow Life by Design so you don’t miss upcoming episodes. If this series helped you, share it with another woman who keeps saying: “I don’t know what is happening to me.” Sometimes good information makes the whole experience feel a little less confusing.
