    Episode Three: Love, Care, and Share: Standing with Ukraine and Innovations in Distance Education from Ukraine to Canada and Beyond with Dr. Oleksandr “Sasha” Kondrashov, PhD, MSW, MEd, RSW

    Dr. Oleksandr (Sasha) Kondrashov is an Associate Professor of Social Work (tenured) at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC. Over more than two decades, he has taught over 7,000 students across five Canadian universities. He is the founder of DROKACADEMY (krasun.ca), a teaching and publishing platform built around inclusive, learner-centred social work education.   A Ukrainian-Canadian scholar originally from Lviv, Sasha immigrated to Canada in 2004 and completed his MSW and PhD at the University of Manitoba. His scholarship has produced widely used pedagogical frameworks, including the Social G*R*A*C*E*S* (expanded to 105 dimensions across Maslow's hierarchy), the Architecture of Care, the A+ Framework, and the Love·Care·Share ethical framework grounded in the Indigenous Seven Sacred Teachings.  He has co-organized weekly Stand with Ukraine gatherings near Kamloops City Hall every Saturday since February 24, 2022.

    In this episode, co-hosts Laura Krishnan-Mackie and Dr. Effrosyni Kokaliari speak with Dr. Itunu Ilesanmi, an assistant professor and expert in forced migration. They explore the lived experiences of refugees and internally displaced persons, the multifaceted traumas of conflict and disaster, systemic barriers to reintegration, and the need for culturally responsive, trauma-informed, person-centered services that support long-term healing and resilience. The conversation highlights the complexities of migration, and practical steps for improving social work responses.
