Two God Ideas, One Calendar: When Everything You Love Needs You

What do you do when two things you care deeply about need you at the same time? This week, I’m sharing how producing HBCU Honors while building the Reinvention Code Index challenged me to get honest about my capacity, reconsider my deadlines, and give myself permission to adjust without abandoning the vision. We’re talking about honoring the season you’re in, communicating with the people who believe in you, and finding gratitude when you have more opportunities than time. I’m also introducing the Reinvention Code Index, an assessment I’m developing to help you explore how your identity, emotional weight, beliefs, and response to change may be affecting your next chapter. Sometimes the area that looks like the problem isn’t the one holding you back. If you’ve been feeling guilty about making something important wait, this conversation is for you. Interested in free beta access to the Reinvention Code Index? Join my mailing list at https://thereinventioncode.com. I’m inviting the first 25 people to help me test it. I'm Kind, But I'm Not the One! Grace, Grit & the Many Sides of Me

I'm kind, compassionate, and believe in extending grace. But don't mistake my kindness for weakness. My cousins nicknamed me "Duke" for a reason! 😂 In this episode of The Reinvention Code, I'm sharing a side of myself that most people don't see, including a business confrontation where, let's just say, when she went low, I went to hell! But this conversation is about more than standing your ground. I'm reflecting on how our childhood experiences shape the way we respond to conflict, why forgiveness doesn't automatically restore trust, and the difference between being kind and simply trying to keep everybody comfortable. We also explore the expectations placed on women in leadership, what faith teaches us about anger and discernment, and why personal growth shouldn't require us to become smaller versions of ourselves. This week's Reinvention Code: "Growth doesn't mean losing your fire. It means learning when to use it, what deserves it, and how to make sure it serves your purpose instead of your emotions." Have you ever had someone mistake your kindness for weakness? I'd love to hear your perspective. When Grief and Joy Share the Same Space: Finding Hope After Loss

Can you experience profound grief and genuine joy at the same time? And how do you keep moving forward when losing the people you love becomes an increasingly familiar part of life? This week, my family experienced two very different emotions within days of each other. We celebrated the birth of a beautiful baby girl, Kylie, and mourned the heartbreaking loss of my brother. I thought that after experiencing so much loss in my life, I might be better equipped to handle another goodbye. But grief reminded me that no matter how strong we become, losing someone we love never gets easy. In this deeply personal episode of The Reinvention Code, I'm reflecting on how we navigate grief without losing sight of the joy that's still available to us. We explore why grief doesn't necessarily get easier with age, how a new loss can reopen old wounds, why faith doesn't eliminate heartbreak, and what it really means to support someone who's grieving. I also share why I believe honoring the people we've lost doesn't require us to stop enjoying the life we still have. This Week's Reinvention Code: "Grief is a reflection of the love we've experienced. But joy is a reminder that we still have love to give and life to live." If you're navigating loss, supporting someone who's grieving, or learning to embrace happiness again, I hope this conversation offers comfort, perspective, and encouragement to keep living fully. Because we can honor the love we've lost while embracing the love that's still here.

    Stop Chasing Visibility. Build Value.

We live in a culture that rewards visibility, but being seen and being valuable are not the same thing. I’ll admit, lately I’ve looked at my own social media feeds and thought, “Good Lord, that’s a lot of me.” 😂 The irony is that I’ve never been someone who craves being the center of attention. I’m much more comfortable behind the scenes, connecting people, developing strategy, solving problems and making things happen. But I’ve also had to accept that leadership requires visibility, and sometimes purpose requires us to step out front even when we’d rather stay in the background. So how do you embrace visibility without allowing visibility to become the goal? In this episode of The Reinvention Code, I’m exploring the difference between visibility, value, credibility, influence and impact, and why I believe one of the most important questions a leader can ask is: What happens because I’m in the room? I also share five Reinvention Codes for building meaningful influence, including why we should turn access into opportunity for others, build credibility alongside our platforms and create something strong enough to eventually live beyond us. At this stage of my life, I’m thinking much more seriously about legacy. I don't simply want my great-grandchildren and their great-grandchildren to know what I accomplished. I want them to inherit evidence of what's possible and be inspired to build something even greater. Because leadership isn't about how many people saw you walk into the room. It's about what changed because you were there and what continues because you were here. In this episode: • Visibility vs. value • Credibility, influence and impact • Why your reputation should eventually walk into rooms before you do • Turning access into opportunity for others • Building something that doesn't require your presence to survive • The five Reinvention Codes for value and influence • A Value Audit to help you evaluate what you really bring to the table Before you go, ask yourself: If your title, followers and visibility disappeared tomorrow, what would still make you valuable? Follow The Reinvention Code and share this episode with someone who's ready to build something bigger than their visibility.

Don't Let the World Make You Hard: Kindness Without Losing Your Discernment

One man paid for my breakfast and left without asking for anything in return. Another Googled me and told me in our very first conversation that he expected me to take him out for a steak dinner because he knew I could afford it. Two men, two meals. One made me feel seen. The other made me feel sized up. In this episode of The Reinvention Code, I talk about the difference between kindness and entitlement, generosity and obligation, and how to keep your heart open without letting the world make you naïve, cynical or hard. In this episode: Why real kindness should not come with a secret invoiceHow to recognize when someone confuses your ability to help with an obligation to helpThe difference between kindness and people-pleasingHow to keep discernment from turning into permanent suspicionWhat Jesus modeled about compassion and intentional accessWhy simple kindness still matters in a world that moves too fast to notice peopleThis week's challenge: Do one intentional act of kindness for someone who cannot advance your career, increase your visibility or give you anything in return. Don't post it. Don't record it. Simply notice someone and respond. Build Something That Outlives You

Success proves what you can accomplish. Legacy creates possibilities for people you may never meet. I flew to London believing I had been invited to speak at a leadership conference. After standing on that stage twice, I went back to my hotel room and asked God one question: why did You put me in that room? What I heard changed how I think about my purpose, and about what I'm building that can live beyond me. In this episode of The Reinvention Code, I share four instructions I brought home from London, the story of a 72-year-old woman stepping into a brand-new vision, and the questions that help you name your gift and put it to work for someone else. In this episode: Why your purpose doesn't expire, and why your age is not evidence that it hasThe difference between success and legacyFour questions to help you identify your gift and the problem it can solveThe four instructions I heard: don't forget who you are, think bigger, take the leap that scares you, and don't let small distractions pull you away from your purposeWhy failure is information, and how it may be redirecting you toward something biggerHow to build something that continues to grow, serve, and create change long after you're gone.If something in this episode spoke to you, please like, comment, and share it with someone who is building something that matters.

Spiritual Warfare or Dysfunction? When Faith Requires Boundaries

Spiritual warfare is real, but spiritual language can also become a hiding place for dysfunction. In this episode of The Reinvention Code, Dorinda Walker explores the difference between supporting someone through a difficult season and enabling behavior that continues to harm you. She examines family dynamics, forgiveness without reconciliation, courageous conversations, personal accountability, and the ways Scripture can be used to liberate people or pressure them into silence. This episode asks the difficult questions: Are you under spiritual attack, or are you continuing to give dysfunction access to your life? Are you showing compassion, or abandoning yourself? And are you waiting for God to remove something He may be asking you to walk away from? Because prayer matters, but sometimes prayer must produce a decision. Protecting your peace may also be part of protecting your purpose.

Dating After Loss: Ready for Love, but Not Waiting for It

What does it mean to be ready for love without putting your life on hold waiting for it? After losing my husband in 2022, I eventually felt open to dating again. I tried the dating apps, connected with a few men, and never made it to an actual date. But the conversations taught me plenty about modern dating, emotional maturity, love-bombing, financial compatibility, intuition, and the importance of maintaining your standards. In this episode of The Reinvention Code, I explore: The difference between being alone, lonely, and isolated Dating after widowhood, divorce, or a long-term relationship Why loneliness can make attention feel like affectionHow social media creates access without genuine intimacy Why standards should protect what matters to you What financial stability means when dating later in life How to remain open to love without waiting for itYour life is not a waiting room for love. Your next chapter begins when you choose to live, not when someone chooses you. How would you finish this sentence? I stopped waiting for love when I started ____________.
