Episode 36W.E.B. Du Bois: More Than a Soundbite | London with Jeffrey Wright & Zac Ntim (Part 1) Our THS: Our Truth. Our History. Our Story.Hosted by Rita Coburn Watch this episode:https://youtu.be/pimQpiUJ9Mc W.E.B. Du Bois was more than a soundbite. He was a scholar, activist, visionary, and one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century. But how much do we really know about the man behind the words we so often quote? In this episode, Rita Coburn takes us to London for the United Kingdom premiere of W.E.B. Du Bois: Rebel With a Cause, her feature documentary exploring the extraordinary life, work, and enduring legacy of W.E.B. Du Bois. Joining Rita for a special conversation are acclaimed actor Jeffrey Wright, whose voice brings Du Bois' writings to life in the film, and Deadline journalist Zac Ntim, who moderates the discussion. London holds a special place in Du Bois' history. In 1900, he attended the first Pan-African Conference, where he delivered his prophetic warning that the problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color line. More than 125 years later, his words continue to resonate. But Du Bois was far more than a collection of memorable quotations. His scholarship, activism, and lifelong commitment to justice helped shape the way we understand race, democracy, and the struggle for human rights. As the documentary reaches audiences across the Atlantic, Rita reflects on the journey of bringing Du Bois' story to the screen and the importance of understanding not only what he said, but what he did. This is more than a film premiere. It is an opportunity to revisit history, challenge what we think we know, and consider what Du Bois' life and work have to teach us today.
