Nazneen Akhtar Rahim is a British American actor. Originally from London, Nazneen studied Law at the University of Westminster, graduating with honors, following which she practiced human rights law.     Founder of Broken Bicycle Films Sam Quinn

    Sam Quinn is an award-winning actor, filmmaker, casting director, and acting coach from Taos, New Mexico. Raised by visual artists, he developed a love for storytelling at an early age. After studying musical theatre at the Northeast School of the Arts in San Antonio, Texas, Sam earned a BFA in Acting with a minor in Contemporary Music from the Santa Fe University of Art and Design. Sam began his career in Chicago's vibrant theater community, performing in numerous stage productions while writing and producing two original rock musicals. He later transitioned to film and television, appearing in projects including American Primeval, Better Call Saul, Jane Got a Gun, Only the Brave, Eddington, Independence Day: Resurgence, and Pluribus, among many others. As the founder of Broken Bicycle Films, Sam has written, directed, and produced award-winning short films, a television pilot, music videos, and commercial content. His work has been recognized at film festivals for its blend of humor, heart, and authentic storytelling. In addition to acting and filmmaking, Sam teaches and coaches actors while working as a casting director for non-union commercial campaigns throughout New Mexico, helping connect local talent with opportunities in the state's thriving film industry. Whether directing, acting, teaching, or casting, Sam is passionate about creating stories that celebrate humor, vulnerability, and the beautifully imperfect nature of being human.

    Santa Fe International Film Festival Artistic Director and Founding Member Jacques Paisner

    In this episode, guest host Genevieve Trainor speaks with Santa Fe International Film Festival Artistic Director and Founding Member Jacques Paisner about the festival and his thoughts for independent filmmakers on getting your work seen.   The 18th annual Santa Fe International Film Festival runs October 14–19, 2026. Founded in 2009, the festival is now an Academy Award-qualifying festival for narrative, documentary and animated short films. The full 2026 schedule will be released in September.   Jacques is the former director of programming at the Jean Cocteau Cinema and has served on the Mayor’s Santa Fe Film Commission. He now serves on the advisory board for the California American Indian Film Festival and is executive producer on the upcoming film HEATWAVES. He’s also president of the Santa Fe Film Institute, which supports independent filmmaking and New Mexico filmmakers through grants, fiscal sponsorship, mentorship and other year-round programs.   To learn more and find festival and pass information, visit santafe.film.

    Mindfield Film Festival 2026

    The 9th Annual Mindfield Film Festival – Albuquerque returns August 27–30, 2026, celebrating independent filmmakers from New Mexico and around the world. The four-day festival will feature an exciting lineup of feature films, short films, music videos, filmmaker networking opportunities, special events, and an awards ceremony. Mindfield is dedicated to giving emerging and established filmmakers a welcoming, professionally curated platform to showcase their work, connect with audiences, and build meaningful relationships within the film community. Aaron Alexander is a filmmaker, producer, director, and the Executive Director of the Mindfield Film Festival – Albuquerque. As the founder of Silence Fiction Films, he develops character-driven projects while working to strengthen New Mexico’s independent film community. Through Mindfield, Aaron creates opportunities for filmmakers to showcase their work, build meaningful industry connections, and gain recognition in a welcoming, professionally curated environment. His background in film production, music, technology, and event leadership gives him a distinctive blend of creative vision and practical experience. Abby Max is a model, actress, producer, creative leader, and the Director of Operations for the Mindfield Film Festival – Albuquerque. Through Mindfield, she helps oversee the festival’s departments while contributing to the creative vision, presentation, and overall experience that continues to elevate the festival each year. Abby is also deeply committed to the Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico, where she serves as a board member and helps support programs that encourage creativity, confidence, and hope for children and families facing childhood cancer. As a producer with Silence Fiction Films, co-host of New Mexico Rising, board member for Guerilla Photo Group, and talent represented by DMe Talent Agency, Abby brings a unique blend of organization, style, compassion, and creative instinct to every project she is part of.Gene Hunt is an actor and filmmaker known for Sara's Audition and Rivals.  Stephen Burhoe is an actor and acting coach, known for Obliterated, Better Call Saul and Messiah. He has made films including Heaven on Earth?, Gameboy and Besties.

    Ashleigh Crystal Hairston

    Named a “2024 Rising Star of Animation” by Animation Magazine, Ashleigh Crystal Hairston is a multi-hyphenate in the truest sense of the word. She is the lead voice actress on Nickelodeon’s The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, a series she also helped co-create. As a writer, story editor, and co-EP on the show, Ashleigh has helped shape its voice since its inception. She ran the writers room alongside Lindsay Katai, crafting the arc of the series and developing entirely new characters and relationships. She even served as lead writer on three episodes!  Ashleigh is so proud to be introducing a new generation to Cosmo and Wanda, and to be lending her voice to the show’s new protagonist Hazel Wells. Of course, this latest achievement simply builds upon her previous work as Head Writer on Jessica’s Big Little World, a spin-off of the Emmy-nominated Craig of the Creek, where Ashleigh similarly served as staff writer and voice of the wild-eyed scientist Wren! Ashleigh is also the voice of the iconic Babs Bunny in the Warner Bros. revival Tiny Toons Looniversity, streaming now on Max.As one of the industry’s fastest rising Black women, Ashleigh is committed to uplifting others around her. She looks forward to ushering in an entire generation of Black voices in animation and beyond! She has previously been featured in Forbes as well as NPR’s ‘All Things Considered.’

    Michael Vincent Berry

    Michael Vincent Berry is a native Houstonian LGBTQIA+ actor best known for his work in Law and Order SVU, Better Call Saul, The Cleaning Lady, Outer Range, THEM and WACO: The Aftermath. In addition to a storied career in the Theatre as an actor, Michael spent 20 years in public education as the Artistic Director and Chair of the School of Theatre at Oakland School for the Arts and The Performing Arts School - Lawrence. Among Michael’s most notable formerstudents are Zendaya, Bo Burnham, Tati Gabrielle, and Kehlani. Michael was inducted into his alma mater’s Hall of Fame in 2017 as well as earning a special Tony Award nomination for his work in Theatre Education that same year. His upcoming film “ED” marks Michael’s inaugural screenplay, a short film about how men quietly disappear from their own lives. It marks five years’ worth of work on a deeply personal, emotional journey about fatherhood, masculinity, and the decisions we make when life turns out other than how we imagined it or when we fall short of society’s expectations. Michael will be playing the title role: “ED” in addition to his roles of writer and producer. “ED” begins principal photography in late August in Moriarty, NM with a very rich and diverse cast and crew that represents the LGBTQIA+ community. Upon completion, “ED” will screen at major film festivals across the world, including highly visible LGBTQIA+ festivals as well as Academy Award (Oscar) qualifying festivals.     Lissette Nichols

    Lissette Nichols is half Dominican, half Panamanian, 1st generation American Actress. She is the owner and proud coach of NM Actor's Film Studio for the youth in the NM market. She graduated from New Mexico State University with a Theatre Arts Degree with an Acting emphasis for Stage acting. From there, she went on to receive her second degree in Elementary Education while she continued to inspire children to bring out their special gifts in performing arts. For years, while growing her family, she wrote, produced, directed, and choreographed children's Christmas musicals. She built an amazing production team using volunteers, had the privilege to work hand in hand with 80+ kids, and directed more than 500+ children during the holiday seasons.     Carol Skipwith

    Carol Skipwith joined the film community of New Mexico in 2012. Her first introduction was portraying a background actor on Better Call Saul. Her reaction “I was hooked.” She began sharing her talents for photography by shooting pictures at networking events. Word got around about her remarkable eye and her journey providing headshots for actors throughout Albuquerque began and has grown to thousands in her portfolio. According to Skipwith, “Not only did the film industry give me a new direction I never dreamed of, but it would also bless me with so many people who accepted me as family. ”She eventually received her eligibility for Screen Actors Guild, but her expertise and true passion is behind the camera and not in front of it.
