How hockey saved Soviet Jews

In 1976, Philadelphia Flyers owner Ed Snider turned a showdown with the Soviet team into an opportunity to shine a spotlight on Jews trapped behind the Iron Curtain. Freedom on Two Wheels

What do motorcycles, Jewish community, and the fight against hate have in common? On this weekend’s edition of Ark News Weekend Edition, we meet the Jewish motorcyclists turning a shared love of the open road into something much bigger. For one Holocaust survivor, riding is the ultimate expression of freedom—and a way to carry his mother’s memory with him wherever he goes. The Jewish Motorcyclists Alliance encompasses 36 clubs across the diaspora. At its annual Ride to Remember in Cleveland this summer, 200 riders raised more than a quarter of a million for the Tribe of Nova Foundation, supporting survivors of October 7th and their families. Now, many are looking forward to another ride for Israel’s 80th birthday in 2028. pro-israel or not?

Good format. But what good is it being "pro-Israel" when your "source" is the "Palestinian affairs" reporter from the lefty ToI? I tune into JNS on the exact same story on "settlers" and they say the Muslim Arabs (so-called Palestinians) are actually free to go! They just can't keep squatting & expanding.. who are the REAL "settlers" anyway? are there 2 sides to this? Are we talking Area C here? Why is that never mentioned? I guess the "Palestinians" have all these human rights when they wander & set up shop in Area C, but let a Jew mistakenly go into A or B and they'll be lucky to come back alive. Ever report on this double standard Dan? And why do you call it the "west bank" anyway? Do you REALLY want to be a pro-Israel source, or do you want to be just one more lefty msm outlet, rubbing shoulders w all the other smarmy media elites?

This 10 minute news rundown is perfect. Helpful, objective, and helps me be a more-informed consumer of other news about the Middle East. As an American there have been periods where I wasn’t paying attention to ME news (it’s depressing, let’s face it) but there isn’t really a substitute for being a long-time student on a certain topic. It’s always better to follow the news as it happens than go back and cram/review later, and this podcast helps me do that.
