    Keep It Moving

This episode of Living in the Word, hosted by Pastor Anita Harrington, centers on the urgent divine mandate to "Keep It Moving." Drawing from the story of Lot’s escape from Sodom in Genesis 19, Pastor Anita explores the dangers of spiritual and emotional stagnation and the necessity of leaving behind the "mess" to embrace God’s "greater". Episode Summary Are you feeling stuck in a cycle of old habits, toxic relationships, or a stagnant spiritual environment? In this powerful message, Pastor Anita uses the biblical account of Lot and his family to illustrate how God often has to "smoke us out" of comfortable but destructive situations. Just as the angels had to forcefully take Lot’s hand to rescue him from impending judgment, God may use divine intervention to push us toward our next dimension of growth. Key Discussion Points The Danger of Looking Back: Using the example of Lot’s wife, who became a "monument" of salt, the episode warns that looking back at the past makes you unfit for the kingdom and keeps you stuck in a rut.Outgrowing Your Current Level: Pastor Anita shares a "grade school" analogy, explaining that just as a first-grade teacher cannot teach second-grade work, you may need to move to a new church or environment to receive the higher-level pouring required for your elevation.Identifying "Stuck" Situations: The message identifies various forms of stagnation, including bad company, addictions, and "distracting" relationships that are not ordained by God.Personal Testimony: Pastor Anita opens up about her own journey of keeping it moving—from her move from Atlanta to Virginia to her decision to leave a repetitive church environment and an abusive marriage that was hindering her ministry. The Promise of the New: Citing Isaiah 43:18-19, the episode emphasizes that God cannot do a "new thing" until you let go of the former things.Scripture References Genesis 19:15-17, 22: The angels' urgent command to Lot to "escape for your life".Luke 9:62: The warning against looking back once you have put your hand to the plow.Philippians 3:13: Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward.Job 17:9: The promise that the righteous keep moving forward and grow stronger.Church Location: Covenant Holiness Christian Center 700 South Sycamore Street, Suite 4 Petersburg, Virginia Support the Ministry: You can sow into the ministry via Cash App at $LivingInTheWord.

    We Need The Holy Spirit

In this episode of "Living in the Word," Pastor Anita Harrington emphasizes that believers cannot navigate their spiritual journey or spread the Gospel through human strength alone; instead, they "need the Holy Spirit" to operate in the supernatural. Drawing from Acts 1:8, the episode explores the concept of "dunamis" power, which provides the ability to overcome personal struggles and testify as a witness for Christ. Key Themes: The Power of the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit provides a supernatural power, often compared to the root word for "dynamite," which allows believers to overcome sins and obstacles that once held them. A Call to Witness: Being a witness is defined as testifying to what one has seen or heard. The sources outline four mission areas for this work: Jerusalem (immediate surroundings/family), Judea (border regions/cultures), Samaria (the culturally despised or outcasts), and the ends of the earth. Supernatural Boldness: God provides a spirit that is bold like a lion, enabling believers to stand for the truth without backing down. The Divine Helper: Based on John 14:26, the Holy Spirit acts as a helper who teaches all things and brings God's word back to the believer's remembrance. Spiritual Authority: Through the Holy Spirit, believers are given authority over the enemy, including the power to "trample on serpents and scorpions" and the promise that nothing shall hurt them. Requirement of Obedience: The sources stress that the Holy Spirit is given to those who obey God, noting that one cannot live "any kind of way" and expect to receive this power.
