Is It Time to Rebrand the Fraser Coast? Lifestyle, Jobs and Our Future

Send us Fan Mail 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟰𝟲? Are we selling the Fraser Coast as a place to retire, or a place to build a future? In this episode of the Fraser Coast Property Brief, Glen asks a deliberately controversial question: is it time to rebrand the Fraser Coast? For decades, Hervey Bay and the wider Fraser Coast have been promoted as an outstanding retirement and lifestyle destination. But as the region grows and its population ages, is there a bigger story we need to tell? What does a young nurse, tradie, teacher, engineer or family see when they look at the Fraser Coast? The region has an extraordinary lifestyle, from the climate and calm protected waters to K’gari, the coastline and outdoor living. Can we better connect that lifestyle with careers, housing, education, business, infrastructure, and opportunity? Glen explores whether the Fraser Coast needs to think beyond the traditional retirement story and start talking more about what people can build here. One idea put forward is “Australia’s Lifestyle Coast”, but this isn't about finding the perfect slogan. It's about asking what kind of region we want to create over the next 10, 20 or even 30 years. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟰𝟲? And what would need to change to make the Fraser Coast a place where younger people can build careers, raise families, start businesses and see a future for themselves? The conversation also looks at the broader regional picture,  including Hervey Bay, Maryborough, employment, manufacturing, health, education, housing, property development and regional growth, and how these pieces could form a stronger story for the Fraser Coast. This isn't about changing everything that makes the Fraser Coast special. It's about asking: • What must we protect? • What needs to change? • How do we attract and retain younger workers and families? • How do we create more housing and opportunity? • How do we make “lifestyle meets opportunity” something people can actually experience? 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. What should our region stand for in 2046?
