Our Panama Roots: Three Sisters, One Heritage, a Lifetime of Memories

🇵🇦 ¡Que Viva Panamá! In this special episode of Glow Up in Grace, I'm joined by my sisters, Damalia and Jessica, as we celebrate our Panamanian and Caribbean heritage. We take a heartfelt journey back to our childhood in Colón, Panama, remembering our grandmother's home, family gatherings, childhood adventures, traditional foods, music, and the people who helped shape our lives. We also explore our Afro-Panamanian, Afro-Caribbean, and Afro-Latina identities and reflect on what it means to remain connected to our roots while building lives in the United States. Through laughter, cherished memories, and emotional reflections, we celebrate the generations who came before us and the traditions we hope to pass on to our children and grandchildren. I hope this conversation inspires you to reflect on your own family history, celebrate your heritage, and preserve the stories that connect generations. Thank you for listening. Faith, Friendship & Breast Cancer Survival | Dr. Letitia Armour's Story

Have you ever wondered what it takes to maintain a friendship for 35 years, or how you would respond if you received a life-changing cancer diagnosis? In this special Breast Cancer Awareness Month episode of Glow Up in Grace, I welcome my dear friend, Dr. Letitia Armour, for a heartfelt conversation about faith, friendship, and breast cancer survival. Letitia and I have been friends since 1991, when we met at Oral Roberts University. This episode feels more like two longtime girlfriends sitting on the sofa, sharing our hearts, our memories, and the lessons God has taught us through the years. Letitia shares her personal journey through breast cancer, including the loss of her mother, her own diagnosis in 1995, why she kept her illness private for a season, and how her faith helped sustain her through treatment. We also reflect on the importance of loyalty, forgiveness, grace, and showing up for one another during life's most difficult seasons. In This Episode: What 35 years of friendship has taught us about loyalty and trustLetitia's breast cancer diagnosis and journey through treatmentHow losing her mother and sister affected herWhy she chose to keep her diagnosis privateFinding courage through prayer and ScriptureSupporting friends through grief and difficult seasonsChoosing love over division and disagreementFinding gratitude, hope, and purpose after life's challengesOne of Letitia's most powerful reminders is: "Cancer is not a death sentence. It is a challenge." My prayer is that this conversation encourages you to cherish the people God has placed in your life, care for your health, and keep trusting Him through whatever season you are facing. Breast Cancer: Faith, Treatment & Survivorship | Jennifer’s Story

Have you ever wondered how you would respond if you heard the words, “You have breast cancer”? In this episode, I sit down with my friend Jennifer Haar to talk honestly about her breast cancer journey—from diagnosis and treatment to surgery, recovery, and survivorship. Jennifer shares the moments that tested her faith, the people who surrounded her with love and prayer, and the ways God met her throughout the journey. We talk about the importance of support, allowing others to walk alongside you, finding moments of joy in the middle of difficult circumstances, and continuing to live while facing uncertainty. Jennifer also shares some of the practical realities of breast cancer treatment and recovery, including her experience participating in a clinical trial involving a lymph-node bypass procedure. My prayer is that Jennifer's story encourages women facing breast cancer, strengthens those walking alongside someone they love, and reminds all of us that even in life's most difficult seasons, we do not have to walk alone. In This Episode: • Jennifer's breast cancer diagnosis and treatment journey • Faith in the midst of fear and uncertainty • The importance of family, friendship, and community • The Scripture postcards that encouraged Jennifer throughout treatment • Why isolation can make a difficult season even harder • Finding joy and continuing to live during treatment • Jennifer's experience with surgery, recovery, and survivorship • Her experience participating in a lymph-node bypass clinical trial • Encouragement for women facing breast cancer Medical Disclaimer This episode shares one breast cancer survivor's personal experience with diagnosis, treatment, surgery, recovery, and survivorship. It is provided for informational and encouragement purposes only and is not medical advice. Cancer screening and treatment decisions are individualized. Please consult your physician or healthcare team about screening, diagnosis, treatment, and any procedures or therapies discussed in this episode. God Loves You Even in Your Sin | Understanding Salvation and Grace (Romans 5:6-9)

Have you ever felt like you needed to clean yourself up before coming to God? Romans 5:6–9 reminds us that while we were still helpless—while we were still sinners—Christ died for us. In this 20th episode of Glow Up in Grace, I share what God impressed upon my heart as I sat with Romans 5:6–9 through the practice of Lectio Divina, which I learned about through a recent She Shall Be Called Woman Bible study. As I sat with this passage, several words and phrases seemed to jump from the page: helpless, appointed time, God proves His love, justified by His blood, and saved through Him. And one truth became especially clear to me: Grace before behavior. Christ before self-improvement. Salvation before transformation. In This Episode: • What it means to be helpless without Christ • Why we don't have to clean ourselves up before coming to God • The significance of Christ dying at the appointed time • How God proved His love for us while we were still sinners • Why the blood and the cross remain central to the Gospel • The difference between inspiration and the good news of salvation • Why those who know Jesus are called to share Him with others This month also marks one year since I launched Glow Up in Grace, and I can't think of a more fitting message for Episode 20 than returning to the heart of the Gospel: Jesus Christ. My prayer is that this episode reminds you how deeply God loves you, what Christ has already done for you, and encourages you to share that good news with someone else. Do You Know Who I Am? Knowing Jesus and Answering His Call

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself—not what other people say about Jesus—but who you say He is? In this episode, I walk through the story of Peter and what his journey teaches us about knowing Jesus for ourselves, hearing His voice, following Him even through our imperfections, and answering His call to share Him with others. Peter boldly declared that Jesus was the Christ, yet his journey also included misunderstanding, fear, denial, and failure. Still, Jesus knew Peter completely, restored him, and gave him an assignment. His story reminds us that genuine faith does not require a flawless life. In This Episode: • Why Jesus asked, “Who do you say that I am?” • What “Hear Him” means for us today • How to recognize God's voice among competing voices • What Peter's failures teach us about grace and restoration • Why genuine faith does not require perfection • How Jesus restored Peter and gave him an assignment • What the Great Commission looks like in everyday life • Simple ways we can share Jesus with others At the heart of this message are four simple reminders: Know Him. Hear Him. Follow Him. Share Him. My prayer is that this conversation encourages you to know Jesus for yourself, listen for His voice, follow Him faithfully, and answer His call in whatever way He has placed before you. God’s Faithfulness Through Every Season: Psalm 37, Part 2

Have you lived long enough to look back and see evidence of God’s faithfulness—even through grief, uncertainty, waiting, and change? In Part 2 of this teaching from Psalm 37, I reflect on David’s testimony: “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken…” I recorded this episode during one of the most tender seasons of my life. As I continue grieving my husband, rebuilding my life, raising our children, and taking one faithful step at a time, God is teaching me that difficult seasons do not erase His faithfulness. We may not understand God’s timing or know how everything will work out, but we can look back and remember the doors He opened, the prayers He answered, and the strength He gave us when we did not know how we would make it. In This Episode: • How your life experience becomes evidence of God’s faithfulness • Trusting God through grief, uncertainty, and unanswered questions • Why God’s Word must move from our minds into our hearts • What it means to wait faithfully without standing still • Why you cannot measure God’s faithfulness by someone else’s highlight reel • Choosing peace over comparison and the appearance of success • Remembering that your present uncertainty does not erase God’s past faithfulness • A heartfelt prayer for provision, healing, direction, families, and those who are still waiting If you cannot see what God is doing ahead of you, turn around for a moment and remember what He has already done behind you. I pray this episode reminds you that God has not forgotten you. He is still your strength, your help, and your refuge in times of trouble. I’d love to hear what God is teaching you. In this episode, I share what God has been teaching me through Psalm 37 during one of the most challenging seasons of my life. Over the past several months, I've been learning what it means to trust God's faithfulness through grief, rebuilding, and taking one faithful step at a time. My prayer is that this conversation encourages you wherever you are on your journey. In This Episode: • Why comparison steals our peace • How to trust God while you're still waiting • Resting while God is working • Why God's faithfulness never depends on the economy • Taking the next faithful step—even when you can't see the whole staircase • Finding hope and wisdom in Psalm 37 I pray this episode encourages your heart.
