    Ep 12 Before You Knew

In this deeply personal episode of Sperm Sisters, we share the exact moment we discovered we weren't biologically related to our dads. The split-second before and how our entire identities changed after.  As three donor-conceived sisters born during the largely unregulated era of 1980s sperm donation, we revisit the conversations that changed our lives forever and the emotional aftermath of learning that our identities, family histories, and sense of self were not what we thought they were. Guided by Nat, this episode explores what it feels like to have the rug pulled out from under your feet, how people process life-altering news, and the complex reality of rebuilding your identity after donor conception discovery. If you've ever wanted to be a fly on the wall in a therapy session, then this episode is for you. Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussions of death, grief, family trauma, and loss of identity. If today isn't the day for that, may we gently redirect you to one of our sillier episodes (perhaps Viking Sperm?) and we'll see you next time. Support for Donor-Conceived People If you were conceived before 1991 in the UK, you may be entitled to two free counselling sessions through the Donor Conceived Register (DCR) service, with additional sessions available at a subsidised rate. You can register with the DCR without submitting DNA. Ep 11 Viking Sperm

How many children can one Viking sperm donor really create? The answer is probably more than you're comfortable with. In this episode of Sperm Sisters, Gemma takes us on the fictional journey of Danish sperm donor Sven Spermerson. Based on real-world sperm donation practices, fertility industry trends, and current research, we follow Sven's donations across borders to discover just how far one donor's DNA can travel - and just how many families can be created along the way. Along the route, we explore the realities of modern sperm donation, international fertility clinics, and the growing number of donor-conceived siblings connecting through DNA testing. Fair warning: there are wildly offensive Scandinavian accents throughout. We apologise to Denmark in advance. This episode covers: Donor conception and sperm donationInternational sperm banks and fertility clinicsDonor sibling networksDNA testing and biological connectionsFertility industry regulationsThe global impact of a single sperm donorFor those new here, Sperm Sisters follows the story of three donor-conceived sisters who found each other as adults. Through humour, honesty, research, and real-life experiences, we're exploring donor conception, identity, DNA discovery, and the fertility industry - one chaotic conversation at a time. 🎙️ Sperm Sisters Podcast – Viking Sperm 🎧 Listen now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts & all podcast platforms 📺 Watch on YouTube -------------------------------------- Get in touch and share your story with us, we're looking to interview people on upcoming episodes!  Email us at: spermsisterspod@gmail.com Follow us on insta: @spermsisterspodcast Subscribe on YouTube: @SpermSistersPodcast

    Ep 8 You've Got Male

👀 What happens when a sperm donor wants to make contact? In this episode of the Sperm Sisters Podcast, You’ve Got Male, we explore one of the rarest and most emotionally complicated sides of donor conception - a donor reaching out and wanting a connection. We talk about just how close we came to discovering real information about our own donor, and what it means when anonymity, identity, and biology suddenly collide. Along the way, Nat reads out real donor profiles as we attempt to pick our favourites, and we uncover the uncomfortable truth that many of the mistakes made during the “wild west” era of 1980s fertility treatment are still happening today. This episode covers: Donor conception and sperm donationAnonymous sperm donors and donor contactDNA discovery and biological identityFertility clinic mistakes and ethicsDonor profiles and choosing a sperm donorReal experiences from donor-conceived siblingsFunny, unsettling, emotional, and slightly chaotic - just how we like it. 🎙️ Sperm Sisters Podcast – You’ve Got Male 🎧 Listen now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts & all podcast platforms 📺 Watch on YouTube 👉 Follow and subscribe for more honest conversations about donor conception, DNA discovery, fertility treatment, and sibling stories. -------------------------------------- Get in touch and share your story with us, we're looking to interview people on upcoming episodes!  Email us at: spermsisterspod@gmail.com Follow us on insta: @spermsisterspodcast Subscribe on YouTube: @SpermSistersPodcast

    BONUS EPISODE: The Judge

😳 What happens when sperm donation stops being anonymous… and starts becoming an obsession? A judge. A birth certificate. A man claiming to have fathered hundreds of children. In this fictionalised bonus episode of the Sperm Sisters Podcast, we step inside the mind of the judge overseeing a disturbing and deeply modern court case: should a prolific sperm donor be legally recognised as a father? Inspired by a real news story that shocked the UK, The Judge explores the darker side of sperm donation, donor conception, and the growing ethical and legal questions surrounding mass donors, parental rights, fertility clinics, and DNA discovery. This episode examines: The legal reality of donor conceptionAnonymous sperm donation and parental rightsThe psychological impact of mass sperm donorsFertility industry ethics and regulationThe emotional consequences of biological identity and DNA connectionsPart psychological drama, part social commentary — this is one of our most unsettling episodes yet. 🎙️ Sperm Sisters Podcast – The Judge 🎧 Listen now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts & all podcast platforms 📺 Watch on YouTube 👉 Follow and subscribe for more real stories, donor conception conversations, and the truths people are only just starting to talk about. Ep 7 Red Flag Relatives

Red Flag Relatives |  The Risk of Accidental Incest  What if the person you’re dating… was actually related to you? In this episode, we dive into one of the most uncomfortable - and very real - conversations around donor conception: the risk of unknowingly forming relationships with biological siblings. We explore just how close donor-conceived people can come to crossing that line, and share a real-life story that brings the severity of this issue into sharp focus. Natasha is joined by her fiancé James ahead of their wedding for a very important conversation - using DNA testing to double check they’re not more connected than they thought. We also cover:  Donor conception and sibling discovery  The risks of accidental incest in donor-conceived communities  Why DNA testing matters before relationships get serious  Real experiences from donor-conceived siblings  A very chaotic game of “Date, DNA Test or Ditch”Recorded remotely this time (thanks to Helen having the lurgy), but the chaos is very much still intact. 🎙️ Sperm Sisters Podcast 🎧 Listen now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts & YouTube 👉 Follow and subscribe for real stories, honest conversations, and the realities of being donor conceived. 📲 Follow us on insta @spermsisterspodcast  -------------------------------------- Get in touch and share your story with us, we're looking to interview people on upcoming episodes!  Email us at: spermsisterspod@gmail.com Follow us on insta: @spermsisterspodcast Subscribe on YouTube: @SpermSistersPodcast
