Small Town Shit

This is Small Town Shit where “I’ll be there in five” means twenty, errands take an hour minimum, and privacy is… more of a concept than a reality. We’re not a gossip podcast but if you hear something that hits a little too close to home, that’s not our problem. Hosted by Jessie and Mel, we’re breaking down the everyday chaos of small town life, the unwritten rules, the familiar faces, and the places that somehow turn into a full social event every time. If you’ve ever said you were just running in “real quick” and got stuck talking for 45 minutes… Yeah. You belong here.

    Unsupervised & Unhinged

Jessie left Mel unsupervised with a microphone this week… and honestly, that might have been a mistake. 😂 With schedules getting crazy, Mel decided to take one for the team and tackle her very first solo episode of Small Town Shit. No co-host, no supervision, and absolutely no one to tell her when she's saying too much. This week, we're diving into a small-town scandal involving 20 years of allegedly homemade potato salad that actually came straight from Walmart. Is Brenda a culinary criminal or an absolute genius? Then Mel shares some unpopular small-town opinions, including why running into someone from high school at Walmart does NOT require a 20-year life update, why vague Facebook posts should be illegal, and why women in small towns are basically unpaid FBI agents. Because if you post "on to the next chapter" with no explanation, just know we're already investigating whether you got divorced. 🔎😂 It's a shorter episode, a little chaotic, and completely unsupervised. But hey, at least we showed up! In this episode: The great Walmart potato salad scandal of 2026Why Mel refuses to pretend she's a homemade potluck queenUnpopular opinions about small-town Walmart encountersVague Facebook posts and the investigations they inspireWhy small-town women could solve crimes faster than the FBIWhat happens when Jessie isn't around to keep Mel in checkNow we need YOUR opinion: Is Brenda a genius or a fraud? And are you the friend who investigates everyone's business, or the one who couldn't care less? Tell us in the comments! Have some small-town shit of your own? Send us your stories! We might just share them on an upcoming episode.  https://forms.gle/pqqFpP4CV4C1koTp7      🎧 Listen to Small Town Shit wherever you get your podcasts, and follow along on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube for more chaos.

She Got Her C**k Back… But Lost Her Husband

This week on Small Town Shit, Mel and Jessie are tackling the real issues in life… like why someone would put their dirty shoes on a STARBUCKS TABLE. 🤢 What starts as a conversation about questionable public behavior quickly spirals into overpriced shoes, growing ears, color analysis, toxic cleaning products, and whether we're all just slowly poisoning ourselves anyway.  But the REAL small-town shit starts when a listener story takes an absolutely unhinged turn. A woman posts on Facebook about her stolen four-foot metal rooster, only to discover that her husband took it to his MISTRESS'S HOUSE. And somehow, the rooster ends up being the least shocking part of the story. 🐓💀 We're also getting into creepy small-town thefts, a wild Oklahoma documentary, and the time Jessie nearly shot a family friend because he thought pretending to break into her house would be a hilarious prank. Spoiler alert: IT WAS NOT. From dirty sandals to stolen cocks and terrible decisions, this episode is proof that you truly cannot make this shit up.  Listen to the full episode of Small Town Shit wherever you get your podcasts, and catch us on YouTube for all the facial expressions you don't want to miss! 💌 Got some small-town shit of your own? Cracking, Coffins & Grandpa’s Girlfriend

We’re BACK baby, and apparently two weeks off means we have a LOT of shit to discuss. 😂 This week, Mel and Jessie are catching up on everything from homecoming, wrestling, dementia, haunted houses, cemetery driving lessons, and why we’re perfectly willing to talk to a ghost… but absolutely do NOT want a teenager with a chainsaw chasing us through the woods. Then things take a turn when Mel shares the story of a man who was so convinced a woman was destined to be his bride that her DEATH did not stop him. 😳 Yes, there’s a grave involved. Yes, it gets worse. We also have a listener story that might be the most small-town shit imaginable: Grandma’s funeral, a mysterious woman sobbing at the casket, a decades-long affair everyone apparently knew about, and the revelation that Grandma knowingly went through her husband’s mistress’s checkout line at the grocery store EVERY. SINGLE. FRIDAY. Honestly? An icon. Somewhere along the way we get into karma, whether people eventually get what’s coming to them, surviving a new gym when you hate new things, and the very important realization that teenagers apparently did NOT invent the word “cracking.” Which leads us to a high school auditorium, Saran Wrap, and a pregnancy. We wish we were kidding. Listen to the full episode of Small Town Shit wherever you get your podcasts and remember: be careful cracking out there. Have a small town story for us? Flag on the Freaking Play 🚩

This week on Small Town Shit, Mel hands the mics over to the teenagers and immediately regrets giving them a platform. 😂 Corban and Kenley join the podcast to give us an unfiltered look inside high school life: the absolutely unnecessary amount of PDA happening before 8 AM, the difference between junior high and high school, ridiculous school rumors, questionable dress-up days, sports stories, and the kind of classroom chaos that somehow ends with a potato-sized hole in the ceiling. Then things take a turn when Mel makes the mistake of asking what parents do that annoy teenagers. Apparently, parents ask too many questions, remind them to clean their rooms too many times, talk to people for too long, expect them to remember their own belongings, don't buy them enough food or clothes... and have the AUDACITY to check their grades. 😂 What begins as a conversation about teenage life quickly turns into Corban and Kenley presenting their case against mothers everywhere while repeatedly calling FLAG ON THE FREAKING PLAY for some truly impressive exaggerations. Also discussed: why moms should stop talking during sporting events, the proper teenager-to-parent spending budget, why crockpots ruin lives, whether teenagers actually need their parents for anything besides food, transportation and finances, and the very specific rules parents should apparently follow when communicating with their children. If you've ever raised a teenager, been a teenager, or wondered what teenagers are actually thinking when you tell them to clean their room... this episode is for you. Listen now to Small Town Shit and somebody please check on Mel after this one.https://forms.gle/pqqFpP4CV4C1koTp7     See y'all next week! 💩

    The Community Goat Custody Battle

Corban is back behind the mic and thankfully, he promises this isn’t another entire episode dedicated to roasting Mel. (Although he still manages to sneak a few in.) This week, we have a listener submission involving possibly the most small-town dispute imaginable: a neighborhood-wide custody battle over a goat named Kevin. Kevin showed up out of nowhere, claimed several houses as his own, developed an animal-cracker hookup, acquired multiple collars, destroyed $74 worth of petunias, and somehow ended up at the center of a neighborhood Facebook poll to determine his rightful owner. The options? Tammy. Gary. The neighborhood. Or God. Naturally, God is winning. Mel and Corban weigh in on who deserves custody before sharing their OWN experience with a neighborhood goat, which includes Mel being chased home on a run by a tiny horned animal that eventually WALKED INTO THEIR LIVING ROOM. From there, things go exactly where you'd expect a conversation between a mom and her teenage son to go: nowhere remotely on topic. They cover Corban's ancient donkey Burrito, why Oklahoma feels like the surface of the sun, where they should move, wrestling season, what Mel is supposed to do with herself when Corban goes to college, Mahjong clubs, pickleball, investing early in the next middle-aged-white-lady sport, giant pickle squishies, and why parents probably need to stay out of high school Barstool drama. Basically, it's 20 minutes of small-town chaos with Corban trying desperately to keep Mel on schedule. Listen now, and then tell us: Who gets custody of Kevin the community goat?!  Submit your stories here ↓https://forms.gle/pqqFpP4CV4C1koTp7     See y'all next week! 💩

    Free, But Not for Resale

This week on Small Town Shit, Mel and Jessie are tired, hormonal, and somehow still have plenty to say. 😂 Mel hits 90 days without alcohol and realizes there is one thing she has never regretted: NOT having the drink. The ladies also discuss running significantly faster when you're mentally starring in your own trap music video, spotting an influencer in the wild, why being an influencer sounds exhausting, and whether Mel could mentally survive having her jaw wired shut. Then it's time for this week's listener-submitted Small Town Shit and this one is PETTY. A woman puts a dresser on the curb for free. Someone picks it up, paints it, adds new knobs and sells it for $150. Seems reasonable, right? NOT ACCORDING TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER. What follows is an 80-comment Facebook war, family members being dragged into the argument, an admin establishing official "curbside property law," and our personal favorite, a new piece of furniture appearing on the curb with a sign that says: "FREE BUT NOT FOR RESALE." We need you to weigh in: once you put something on the curb for free, do you have ANY say in what happens to it afterward?! Plus, Charlie may or may not be seeing ghosts, a golden retriever adds evidence to the haunting, we revisit cow slobber and learn about "shit on a shingle," and we are already bracing herself for the small-town chaos that comes with wrestling season.  Listen now and send us YOUR Small Town Shit; petty neighbors, Facebook group drama, family feuds, town scandals, or anything that makes you say, "This could literally only happen here." ↓ https://forms.gle/pqqFpP4CV4C1koTp7     See y'all next week! 💩

Potato Salad, Cow Slobber & Horse Divorce

This week, we’re back on our usual b******t, starting with back-to-school chaos and somehow ending up discussing cow slobber between your toes. Honestly, we couldn’t tell you how we got here either. We’re talking about everything from back-to-school shopping and why owning an umbrella means you clearly have your shit together, to job hopping, college degrees, church potlucks, and a 12-YEAR feud over potato salad. Plus, Mel learns what “cow slobber” is, we reminisce about the day “hors d'oeuvres” became “horse divorce,” debate whether people in New York even have potlucks, and discover just how many things we grew up saying that apparently make absolutely no sense to the rest of the world. Also on the agenda: deviled eggs, redneck piping, hot banana pudding, OnlyFans, Tennessee sayings, Dollywood, four-way-stop rage, and a potential new fundraising strategy that absolutely nobody asked for. Basically, we’re doing great mentally. Grab your cold potato salad, leave your cow slobber at home, and come hang out with us. And PLEASE send us your small-town stories — especially your craziest church potluck drama, family recipes, weird sayings, and hometown feuds. We need to know if anyone can beat twelve years of silence over a bowl of potato salad. 👇🏼https://forms.gle/pqqFpP4CV4C1koTp7    Follow Small Town Shit and send us your stories for a chance to hear yours on a future episode! → www.instagram.com/smalltownshitpod
