Jesus Is Our Rescuer

Friday, June 5, 2026 Key Scripture (CSB)“Romans 7:24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Romans 7:25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” Christianity does not begin with self-confidence. It begins with honesty. Before we can appreciate grace, we must recognize our need for rescue. We are not saved by trying harder, believing in ourselves, or cleaning ourselves up enough for God. We are drowning sinners who need a Savior. Jesus is not merely a life coach shouting advice from the shore. He enters the water to rescue us. When someone is drowning, frantic effort cannot save them. They need help from outside themselves. In the same way, salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. Through faith in Him, we receive forgiveness, a new heart, and the promise of a future without sin or suffering. One day the spiritual battle will finally end. Jesus has already won the victory. Until then, we keep repenting, trusting, and clinging to Christ. Application QuestionHave you truly surrendered your life to Jesus, or are you still trying to save yourself? Stop Treating the Bible Like Emergency Medicine Thursday, June 4, 2026 Feed Your Soul With God’s Word Key Scripture (CSB)“Psalm 1:2 Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.” Many Christians treat the Bible like medicine. They only open it when life falls apart. But Scripture is not just emergency medicine. It is daily food. You do not eat only when you are dying. You eat every day because food sustains your life. In the same way, God’s Word nourishes your soul and strengthens you for the spiritual battle. The more you feed on Scripture, the more your appetite for God grows. As you meditate on His Word, your delight in Him deepens. The Bible is also our sword in battle. A sword is useless if you never train with it, carry it, or learn how to use it. If we neglect God’s Word, we will not be prepared when temptation comes. Scripture not only teaches us how to live; it also points us to Jesus from beginning to end. Motivation Alone Will Never Change You Wednesday, June 3, 2026 You Can’t Win This Battle Alone Key Scripture (CSB)“Romans 7:18 For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it.” The world says, Believe in yourself. Scripture says apart from Christ you can do nothing. We may know what is right, but knowledge alone does not give us the power to obey. A dead phone may have amazing features, but without power it cannot function as designed. In the same way, we were never meant to live the Christian life in our own strength. The problem is not merely lack of information. The problem is lack of spiritual power. That is why we need Jesus to save us and the Holy Spirit to empower us. We need regeneration, not just motivation. We need new hearts, not better pep talks. Galatians describes this as a war between the flesh and the Spirit. Every believer experiences this conflict. The presence of the battle does not mean you are abandoned by God. It means the Spirit is working within you. Victory comes not through self-reliance but through dependence on Christ. The Sin Beneath the Surface Is Bigger Than You Think Tuesday, June 2, 2026 The Hidden Roots of Sin Key Scripture (CSB)“Romans 7:15 For I do not understand what I am doing, because I do not practice what I want to do, but I do what I hate.” Sometimes we surprise ourselves with our own sin. We say things we regret. We explode in anger. We give in to temptation. Then afterward we wonder, Why did I do that? Sin is often deeper than the behavior we can see. Anger may be rooted in pride. Anxiety may come from unbelief. Addiction may grow from hurt, fear, or a desire to escape. Like an iceberg, most of the problem is beneath the surface. Like unhealthy roots produce unhealthy fruit, sinful roots produce sinful actions. Cutting off behavior without addressing the heart only leads to the same sin growing back again. God does not just want behavior modification. He wants heart transformation. Part of spiritual growth is learning to examine your heart through God’s Word, prayer, and honest community with other believers. Don’t Ignore the Battle Inside You Monday, June 1, 2026 The War Within “Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold as a slave under sin.” The law of God is good because it reveals what is broken in us. Like an X-ray reveals broken bones, God’s Word reveals the condition of our hearts. The problem is not the law. The problem is our flesh. Many people want spirituality without surrender. They want inspiration without obedience. But true spirituality is not avoiding God’s commands. The law is spiritual because it comes from God. The battle is that even after coming to Christ, we still feel the pull of sin. We are bent toward selfishness, pride, lust, anger, fear, and unbelief. The Christian life is not pretending the battle is gone. It is fighting the battle with Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Scripture, and the church beside us. No matter how bent out of shape you get, you can always return to Jesus. There is forgiveness at the cross and strength for the next step of obedience. Stay Close to the Light

Stay Close to the Light Key Scripture (CSB)“So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.” — Romans 7:12 (CSB) The law of God is good because it leads us to Jesus. Every time Scripture exposes sin, it is also inviting us toward grace, forgiveness, and transformation. God does not reveal our brokenness to shame us. He reveals it so He can heal us. Many people avoid the light because they fear what they will see. But refusing to confront sin never brings peace. The only path to freedom is honesty before God. So stay close to the Word of God. Stay close to the people of God. Stay close to Jesus. The gospel reminds us daily that we are dead to our old self, dead to legalism, and alive in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Because of Jesus, we are loved, forgiven, and made new. Application QuestionWhat practical step can you take today to spend more time in the light of God’s Word? Sin Is Deceptive

Sin Is Deceptive Key Scripture (CSB)“For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me.” — Romans 7:11 (CSB) Sin rarely appears dangerous at first. It disguises itself. Materialism can look like blessing. Pride can look like conviction. Entertainment addiction can look like rest. Bitterness can look like justice. That’s why Scripture warns us that the heart is deceitful. Feelings alone are not a trustworthy guide for life. Without God’s Word setting boundaries, we can slowly drift into deception without even realizing it. This is why we need daily encouragement from other believers. Isolation makes us vulnerable. Sin grows best in secrecy and darkness. The world says, “Follow your heart.” God says your heart needs transformation. Only Jesus can give us new desires and renew our minds through His Word.
