From The Sidelines To The Seats | Episode 23

The New Orleans Saints opened the season with a wild 31-30 overtime loss to the Detroit Lions, but there was plenty to take away from the comeback. After falling behind 21-0 in the first half, the Saints made adjustments and battled their way back into the game. Tyler Shough finished 35-for-56 for 410 yards and three touchdowns, becoming just the third Saints quarterback to throw for 400 yards in a game, joining Drew Brees and Aaron Brooks. Chris Olave had 10 catches for 182 yards and came up with several clutch receptions, while Devaughn Vele added seven catches for 69 yards and a touchdown. Kendre Miller found the end zone, Juwan Johnson made some big plays, and Bryce Lance worked his way into the offense. We also talks about the Saints' early struggles, the impact of the starters not playing in the preseason, the adjustments made at halftime and how the game seemed to slow down for Shough as the second half went on. The Saints fought their way into overtime, but after Detroit put together a long drive, New Orleans had one final chance. Kellen Moore decided to go for two and the win rather than settle for another possession. The attempt fell short, but the decision showed confidence in a team that had just rallied from a three-touchdown deficit on the road. It wasn't the result the Saints wanted, but after the way the game started, there may be plenty to build on heading into the rest of the season. From the Sidelines to the Seats. Two perspectives. One conversation.
