008 - The Wilderness of Repentance and the Life of the Spirit

Repentance is essential—but it was never meant to become the entire Christian life.In this episode of Between Sundays: The Podcast, Neil Broere teaches from Matthew 3:1–17 and explores the difference between the wilderness of repentance and the life of the Spirit. Many believers have genuinely turned to Jesus, but remain stuck in cycles of guilt, introspection, confession, and self-correction. They have reached the trailhead of faith, but have never stepped fully into the journey of life in Christ. In this episode, you’ll discover:-Why repentance is more than changing your behavior-The danger of building your relationship with God around your mistakes-Why repentance can bring you to the starting line but cannot transform you-The difference between being sin-conscious and God-conscious-How the Holy Spirit leads us beyond forgiveness into freedom-What it means to walk with God instead of continually trying to get back to HimThe invitation of the gospel is not simply to leave your old life behind. It is to follow Jesus, receive His Spirit, and step into the life that has been made possible through union with Him.Repentance turns you, but only the Spirit transforms you.------Want more content like this? 007 - Righteous, Holy, & Whole

What if the way you see yourself is contradicting what Jesus says about you? In this episode of Between Sundays, Neil confronts the spirit of religion and the lie that the finished work of Christ was not enough to make us righteous and holy. Through mulitple passages of Scripture, we unpack what it means for believers to be made righteous, holy, and whole in Christ. This conversation challenges old covenant thinking, exposes the limits of self-effort, and invites you to hear God’s declaration over your life: in Christ, you are not unclean, barely tolerated, or spiritually second-class. You are the righteousness of God, the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, and a new creation. Wholeness does not begin when you finally get yourself together. It begins when you hear the name God calls you. ------- Want more content like this? 005 - Walk Worthy

In Ephesians 4, Paul calls the church to “walk worthy” of the calling we have received. But before he ever tells us how to walk, he spends three chapters showing us what God has already done. That order is important. The gospel is not, “Walk worthy so God will bless you.” The gospel is, “Because God has already blessed you with every spiritual blessing in Christ…therefore, walk worthy.” In this episode, Neil walks through Paul’s language in Ephesians 4 and shows how our lives are meant to carry the weight of the grace we’ve been given. The sacrifice of Jesus is not something we admire from a distance. It is something we respond to with our whole lives. And thankfully, God has not left us to walk worthy in our own strength. He has given us the Holy Spirit, gifted leaders, and the Body of Christ to form us, equip us, and mature us until the invisible Christ becomes visible through His people again. Refuse the lie of independence, walk worthy together, and show the world what God is like. ----Want more content like this?
