In this episode of The Mark Manderson Show, Erryk opens up about the moment everything finally changed. He talks with Mark about surrender, the 12 steps, forgiveness, faith, honesty, exposing the secrets that kept him trapped, and why simply attending meetings wasn't enough for him to truly recover. Fighting Two Battles | Jay

Jay spent six years in the Navy and completed multiple tours, but the hardest battle of his life began when everything started falling apart. After legal trouble, being discharged from the military, heavy drinking, and an arrest, Jay was forced to confront the anger, sleeplessness, and emotions he had spent years trying to suppress. Instead of expecting his life to change overnight, he made a decision: give himself one year. In this episode of The Mark Manderson Show, Jay opens up about getting sober, learning to trust people again, facing the damage his addiction caused, rebuilding his relationship with his daughter and family, and discovering that vulnerability was necessary if he actually wanted to heal. He also shares the unique challenge veterans can face in recovery — dealing with experiences from military service while simultaneously trying to get sober and stay sober. Now more than a year into his journey, Jay is giving back and helping other veterans find the support and guidance he wishes he had when he started. Everyone's Recovering From Something | Gregg Champion

Gregg Champion has spent more than 30 years in recovery helping other people rebuild their lives. But when the Pacific Palisades fires destroyed his home and the recovery program he had spent years building, Gregg suddenly had to apply those same principles to his own life all over again. In this episode of The Mark Manderson Show, Gregg opens up about evacuating his clients as the fire spread, watching his business burn, learning that his family home was gone, and helping his three daughters navigate the trauma of losing the life they knew. Rather than allowing the families around him to scatter, Gregg leaned on one of the most important lessons recovery had taught him: no one recovers alone. He helped keep families and children from their Palisades community together, creating connection and stability in the aftermath. Months later, the same daughter who had cried for hours after losing their home told him it had been "the best summer ever." Gregg also takes Mark back through his own recovery story — losing his father at four years old, childhood trauma, anger, addiction, multiple arrests, drug dealing, and the moment in a jail cell when he heard a voice tell him there was a better way. That chain of events ultimately led him into his first recovery meeting and more than three decades of sobriety. But Gregg makes an important distinction: not drinking isn't the same thing as recovery. After years of sobriety, he realized he was still searching for the same escapes through anger, gambling, food, relationships, and other behaviors. For Gregg, real recovery became a lifelong process of adding new tools, working on the underlying issues, growing emotionally, and becoming more useful to the people around him. This conversation is about addiction, faith, trauma, fatherhood, community, emotional sobriety, starting over — and the idea that everyone is recovering from something.  Mark Manderson is a TEDx speaker, author of The Recovery Way, and a nationally recognized mental health and addiction expert with more than 20 years of experience helping people rebuild their lives. He Had No Image of Tomorrow… Then Everything Changed | Hamish Patterson

Hamish Patterson joins The Mark Manderson Show for a wild and deeply honest conversation about addiction, surfing, skateboarding, rebellion, faith, sobriety, and what happens when a life built around chaos finally stops working. Growing up in the California surf and skate scene, Hamish spent years searching for meaning while moving through counterculture, activism, drugs, alcohol, creativity, and an increasingly unstable lifestyle. What began as surfing, skating, partying, and chasing freedom eventually became something much darker. By the end, Hamish describes himself as being "at war with the world." Then one night outside a liquor store, while looking into the eyes of a sober stranger, he says he saw what felt like his only chance out. For the first time, he realized he could not keep living the same way. Hamish opens up about the messy reality of early sobriety, the moment alcohol and drugs finally stopped working for him, and how recovery eventually became less about simply not drinking and more about faith, integrity, service, and becoming useful to other people. This episode is about rock bottom, recovery, spiritual growth, identity, and learning that sometimes the way out begins with finally admitting you need help. Mark Manderson is a TEDx speaker, author of The Recovery Way, and a nationally recognized mental health and addiction expert with more than 20 years of experience helping people rebuild their lives. He Made Millions… Then Lost Himself Completely | Mike Radoor

Mike Radoor joins The Mark Manderson Show for a raw conversation about success, self-sabotage, identity, fatherhood, and what it really takes to change. After building multiple companies, reaching a massive business valuation, and achieving the kind of lifestyle many people chase, Mike found himself completely empty. He opens up about spending years chasing external validation through money, cars, private jets, drugs, alcohol, women, and status — only to realize none of it healed what was broken inside. In this episode, Mike shares the moment everything changed: broke, separated, a new father, and forced to look himself in the mirror after seeing a photo of his newborn daughter. That moment led him into solitude, self-discipline, spiritual work, and the daily practice of becoming a different man. Mark and Mike dive into the truth about self-sabotage, why success does not fix self-worth, how men avoid pain through achievement and pleasure, and why real change requires more than motivation. This conversation is about facing the version of yourself you no longer want to be — and doing the work to become someone new.  Mark Manderson is a TEDx speaker, author of The Recovery Way, and a nationally recognized mental health and addiction expert with more than 20 years of experience helping people rebuild their lives. The Perfect Life Was A Facade | Nicole

Nicole joins The Mark Manderson Show for a raw and honest conversation about the hidden pain behind a life that looked perfect from the outside. As a military child, military wife, stay-at-home mom, and mother of two, Nicole built the life she always thought she wanted — the house, the family, the pool, the golf cart, and the picture-perfect routine. But behind closed doors, she began losing herself in the pressure to keep everything together, stay grateful, and maintain the image that everything was fine. In this episode, Nicole opens up about loneliness, marriage struggles, mom guilt, alcohol dependency, and the moment drinking stopped feeling like a choice. What started as "classy" wine nights, brunches, and mommy time slowly became something darker — until she realized the bottle was no longer on her time. It owned her. Nicole also shares the painful decision to leave home and get help, the guilt of being away from her children, and the work of becoming a healthier version of herself instead of rushing back just to check a box. This is a powerful episode about addiction, motherhood, identity, healing, and what happens when the perfect life no longer feels survivable. After the Mission | Nick Gilewitch

Army veteran Nick Gilwich joins The Mark Manderson Show for a powerful conversation about military transition, fatherhood, leadership, mental health, success, and learning how to rebuild purpose after service. After eight years in the Army and two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Nick transitioned into the financial industry, where he now works with veterans, service members, and families. But leaving the military meant leaving behind more than a job — it meant losing the structure, mission, camaraderie, and built-in team that had shaped his life for years. In this episode, Nick opens up about the emotional weight many veterans carry after service, the difficulty of adjusting to civilian life, and how compartmentalizing pain can eventually catch up. He shares how depression, pressure, business stress, perfectionism, and the need to provide for his family pushed him to finally seek help and start doing deeper inner work. Nick and Mark also talk about success feeling empty, the trap of chasing achievement, learning to prioritize family, healing the inner critic, therapy, men's work, leadership, and why helping others reach their potential became more fulfilling than chasing his own accolades. This conversation is for veterans, fathers, entrepreneurs, leaders, and anyone who has ever looked successful on the outside while quietly struggling on the inside.
