This Seems Personal

Leigh Gall

This Seems Personal is not a perfectly packaged self-help space. It's me, Leigh Gall, telling the truth in real time and saying the things most of us are too scared to say out loud. I'm done hiding, done performing, done pretending any of us have it all together. This is for anyone who has ever worn a mask in their own life. The overthinkers. The achievers. The people pleasers. The ones who read every room, anticipate every need, and still feel disconnected from themselves even when everything looks fine on the outside. If you've ever wondered whether everyone else is faking it too, you're not alone, and you're in the right place. Here's what I keep coming back to. Your brain is a keep-you-alive machine running on outdated software. So we overthink. We over-function. We abandon ourselves without ever noticing, because by now it's as easy as breathing. We ran these survival responses so many times they stopped being reactions and became who we are. A skillset you never asked for but somehow mastered. And here's the part nobody tells you: it's also your superpower. So across these episodes I get into the real stuff. Self-abandonment, the nervous system, the inner critic, people-pleasing, overthinking, self-sabotage, and all the things we quietly do for everyone else without realizing it. I share the stories I used to hide. Nothing polished. Nothing perfect. Just the truth, the way I actually learned it. What you won't get here is "just go do it." I'm not interested in toxic positivity or faking it till you make it. I'm interested in what's actually getting in your way, and how to put that fire out instead of white-knuckling your way through it. I'm putting myself out here raw because someone has to go first. If you hear something and think, finally, someone is saying what I've been feeling, welcome. This is This Seems Personal. It always is.

"What Have You Done?" - My TEDx Behind the Scenes

Send us Fan Mail "What Have You Done?" My TEDx Behind the Scenes. | This Seems Personal Ep. 12 What really happens behind a TEDx talk? The fear, the dread, and the imposter syndrome I had literally just recorded an episode about. Plus the letdown after a big goal that nobody warns you about. This is the behind-the-scenes version, not the highlight reel. If you've ever worked toward something huge and then panicked at the finish line, or felt weirdly flat once it was over, this one's for you. 📌 WHAT WE COVER: Why this podcast drifted from what I meant it to be, and where Season 3 is headedThe "Leigh, what have you done?" panic that hit me as we pulled out of the drivewayThe last time I felt that: a bathroom stall at DFW before I moved to LondonCoaching myself through fear when this is literally what I coach people onA Chris Stapleton song, a Harry Styles song, and a flood of texts from people I barely knewThe speaker dinner where someone admitted they were scared, and why that helped so muchTwo people chatting in the audience during my talk (yes, really)The dip that comes after a big goalWhy courage comes before confidence🎙️ BOOK AT APPOINTMENT: https://app.paperbell.com/checkout/bookings/new?package_id=166888&tab=2026-09-30 💬 LET'S CONNECT:  Instagram: @theleighgall  TikTok: @thisseemspersonal  LinkedIn: @leighgall 🎤 WORK WITH ME: www.LeighGall.com 👉 Season 3 is coming. Why You Do Things You Hate - The Rules Nobody Questions

Send us Fan Mail Why You Do Things You Hate (The Rules Nobody Questions) — Ep. 5 There you are, standing in the card aisle, buying a card for someone you're not even that crazy about, who might not even read it — because you feel like you're supposed to. This episode is about all of it: the shoulds and the supposed-tos we do on autopilot, with a chest full of resentment, and never stop to question. I had AI hand me a list I hadn't read yet, and we go through it live — the matching towels nobody uses, the guest room nobody visits, the impossible beauty math (look effortless, but spend two hours), the pressure to snap back to your pre-baby body, "let's get together" that never gets scheduled, being the family's emotional manager. And the ones men get handed too: be the provider, be the rock, never let anyone see what it costs you. Underneath the fun, it's the same thread that runs through this whole show — these rules aren't yours. You absorbed them. And you have a choice. The real supposed-to is that we're not supposed to talk about any of it. So let's talk about it. 🗓️ FREE WORKSHOP — HAVE YOUR OWN BACK: August 20th, 11am Central.  LINK HERE: https://www.leighgall.com/event-details/have-your-own-back-2 💬 LET'S CONNECT: Website: leighgall.com Instagram: @theleighgall TikTok: @thisseemspersonal LinkedIn: @LeighGall  🎤 WORK WITH ME: I speak and coach on the inner critics, perfectionism, and survival patterns that masquerade as drive. If your team or audience is full of high performers quietly exhausting themselves to look okay, that is exactly what I talk about.
