Productive Without Burning Out | Focus, Rest & Making Room for Yourself

What if the answer to getting more done isn’t squeezing more into your day—but learning how to use your energy differently? In this episode of Triage for the Soul, we’re talking about the complicated relationship between productivity and burnout. I’m someone who gets told I must have a 36-hour day because of how much I manage—but the part people don’t always see is how easy it is to become overextended, overcommitted, and exhausted while still appearing incredibly productive. We’ll explore the Pomodoro Method, using focused 25-minute work intervals and intentional breaks, but we’ll also talk about what rest looks like in real life—when you’re working, caring for others, seeing patients, raising children, or simply don’t have 25 minutes to spare. Sometimes your reset might be five minutes. Sometimes it might be 90 seconds staring out a window and doing absolutely nothing. We’ll also unpack rejection therapy, becoming more comfortable hearing “no,” creating space for things you genuinely enjoy, and recognizing that being capable of carrying more doesn’t mean you should. Because productivity shouldn’t be measured by how exhausted you can become while still getting everything done. Maybe you don’t need a 36-hour day. Maybe you need permission to protect some of the 24 hours you already have. 🎧 Save this episode for the next time your to-do list feels endless, share it with another chronic overachiever, and follow Triage for the Soul for more conversations about burnout, balance, boundaries, resilience, and making room for yourself.
