    Ken Reaves: The Original Atlanta Falcons, NFL Pioneer & The Man Behind the Helmet | Healthcare Henry S2 EP. 17

    Before the Atlanta Falcons became the franchise we know today, players like Ken Reaves helped build the foundation. Drafted by the Falcons in 1966, Ken Reaves spent 12 seasons in the NFL and built his reputation as a physical, aggressive defensive back. In this conversation, Ken takes us back to the early days of the Falcons, playing cornerback in the 1960s, facing some of the league’s toughest receivers, and what it meant to be a Black player entering professional football during that era. He also shares the mindset that kept him going: “I was serious about that game. That's how I managed to get 12 years out of it.” From studying receivers and understanding their “heart” to teaching the next generation about fundamentals, aggression, and preparation, Ken gives us a firsthand look at a very different era of football. This is more than a football story. It's a conversation about competition, family, discipline, perseverance, and the mentality it took to make it in the NFL.
