  1. Episode 4

Trainees on Social Media (Scrubs Reboot S1E4)

What happens when a medical resident has 550,000 followers? In this episode of The Scrubs Life Podcast — a companion podcast to the medical show Scrubs and its recent Hulu reboot — host Dr. Maheetha Bharadwaj sits down with two doctors on opposite sides of the social-media-in-medicine conversation. This week's guests: Dr. Preston Roche (@PressRowOnline) is a psychiatry resident at UT Health San Antonio, an active-duty Air Force officer, and one of the largest medical creators on social media with over half a million followers. He shares medicine through humor, satire, and storytelling — making medical training relatable to a generation that learns through their phones. Dr. Susan MacDonald, MD is an Associate Professor of Urology and Program Director at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. As someone responsible for evaluating and shaping the next generation of urologists, she brings the program director's perspective to a topic many in academic medicine still aren't sure how to approach. Together with Maheetha, they tackle the questions every modern trainee is asking: What can residents actually post online? Where's the line between professionalism and personality? How does rating culture in medicine — from program evaluations to public review sites — shape how doctors behave both in the hospital and online? And in a world where patients Google their doctors before they meet them, what role should social media play in the future of medical education and trust? 🎧 LISTEN ON ALL PLATFORMS Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Amazon Music, and wherever you stream. 📺 WATCH THE SCRUBS REBOOT Streaming now on Hulu. 📱 FOLLOW US Instagram & TikTok: @thescrubslifepodcast Audio/Video Production by Paul Bogosian

  2. Episode 5

Dating in Medicine & Transplant (Scrubs Reboot S1E5)

Can you really find love working 80-hour weeks? This week on The Scrubs Life Podcast, Dr. Maheetha Bharadwaj sits down with two women in surgery to react to the Scrubs reboot's take on dating in medicine — hospital romances, power dynamics, dating apps, and the relationships they'd strictly avoid — before shifting gears to one of the heaviest topics in the show so far: a patient facing a liver transplant decision, and what it really takes to guide someone through "best case, worst case" conversations, informed consent, and choices that are ultimately theirs to make. Dr. Kimberly Brooke Golish is a general surgery resident at Northwestern and future trauma and acute care surgery fellow at Penn. Inside the hospital, she's passionate about medical education, changing surgical culture, and mentorship; outside of it she's a yoga instructor, hiker, runner, and traveler. Follow her take on navigating the surgical space as a woman at @LiveLaughExLap. Dr. Mohini Dasari is a general surgeon in Washington who completed part of an abdominal transplantation fellowship and has written openly about surgical training and culture on Doximity, KevinMD, and The Seattle Times. Her debut novel, Shayla's Dance, was published in January 2026. If you liked what you heard, subscribe on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Amazon Music, or wherever you stream your podcasts. 3. Episode 6

Vulnerability & Making Mistakes in Medicine (Scrubs Reboot S1E6 + S1E8)

Every doctor remembers their first real mistake. This week on The Scrubs Life Podcast, Dr. Maheetha Bharadwaj is joined by a psychiatrist and a nephrologist for a combo episode reacting to scenes from two episodes of the Scrubs reboot — episodes six and eight — that tackle vulnerability and making mistakes in medicine. They get honest about the errors that stay with you, what actually happens after a mistake in the hospital, the hidden curriculum that teaches trainees to hide their struggles, and what it takes to build a culture where doctors can be human. Dr. Claire Oduwo is a part-time psychiatrist in Seattle. The rest of her time is spent as a content creator, traveling, teaching at a Pilates studio, and being cat mom to Mango. Dr. Justin Bullock is an assistant professor in nephrology at the University of Washington School of Medicine and a passionate medical educator, teacher, and researcher whose writing has appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine. He's also the host of Backstory, a new podcast revealing the stories behind medical education research articles - the first episode aired May 13th, so go check it out. 4. Episode 7

When a Doctor Becomes a Patient (Scrubs Reboot S1E9)

What happens when the white coat comes off and you're the one in the gown? This week on The Scrubs Life Podcast, Dr. Maheetha Bharadwaj is joined by two physicians who know firsthand. In a very special episode, they react to scenes from the Scrubs reboot where Dr. Cox — once JD's attending — becomes JD's patient, and they share their own stories: what it's like to go from high-functioning surgeon to stage four cancer patient in a matter of weeks, coping through dark humor, the strange experience of knowing too much about your own diagnosis, being strong for the people you love, and finding community when your support system isn't what you expected. Dr. Susan MacDonald returns to the show (you may remember her from our Trainees on Social Media episode). She is a reconstructive urologist and program director at Penn State Urology, about 20 months into her cancer journey, and preparing for her next chapter beyond clinical medicine — including a book in the works. Dr. Payal Patel Ghayal is an integrative pediatrician and a coach for women, specializing in coaching brown women who have it all but still aren't happy. She's the host of the Brown and Happy podcast (125 episodes and counting — Maheetha has been a guest!). She recorded this episode on her first day back to work after completing breast cancer treatment, having rung the bell just one week earlier.
