18 | Are You Comparing Yourself to Others? Understand Your God-Given Strengths

Have you ever understood your personality—but still found yourself wishing you could be more like someone else? In this episode of Relationship Reality, Cyndy Bartelli shares the deeply personal story of a granddaughter who called her in tears after comparing herself to her more outgoing sister. She knew her personality and understood her natural strengths, but in that moment, she had forgotten how those strengths could help her connect with people in her own way. Knowing who you are is one thing. Learning how to live out who God made you to be in your relationships is another. Cyndy also shares a personal story about trying to become more like her own mother and discovering an important distinction: there are qualities we can admire and develop without trying to become someone else. The truth is, different does not mean deficient. God has intentionally designed each person with natural strengths. The goal isn't to become someone else. It's to understand who you are, recognize the strengths God has placed within you, and learn how to use those strengths to build healthier, stronger relationships. In this episode, Cyndy explores: Why knowing your personality isn't enough—you also have to learn how to apply it in everyday relationships What happens when people compare their natural strengths to someone else's How Cyndy's granddaughter learned to recognize where she shines The difference between admiring someone's character and trying to become that person Why personality isn't a ranking system—no personality is better than another How comparison can become a source of discouragement and wounds to the soul The three parts of the Relationship Trifecta: God's design, learned behavior, and wounds to the soul How parents can recognize and encourage the unique strengths in each of their children Why no one has to become someone else to become the best version of who God created them to be Psalm 139:14 reminds us: “I praise you, Lord, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Cyndy encourages listeners to notice one strength God has placed within them and consider how they can use that strength to connect better with the people around them. For parents, she offers an especially important challenge: instead of asking, “Why can't you be more like your brother or sister?” consider asking, “What do I see in this child that is uniquely theirs?” Because understanding what makes people different can change the way they understand—and love—one another. 17 | How Your Child’s Personality Type Shapes Their School Day

What if your child feels deeply loved—but still doesn't feel understood? The way your child talks, gets ready for school, handles homework, responds to change, and communicates after a long day may have more to do with their God-given personality than you realize. In this episode of The Relationship Reality Podcast, Cyndy Bartelli explores the four basic personality types through the eyes of children—and shows parents how understanding those differences can bring more peace, harmony, and connection into the home. You'll discover why one child wants to talk the moment they get in the car, another wants to tell you what they accomplished, another needs quiet conversation, and another needs time alone to process the day. These aren't simply frustrating behaviors. They may be clues to what your child needs from you. In this episode, you'll learn: Why children with the same parents can experience the same school day completely differently The four basic personality types and how they show up in children How to recognize the needs of a Social Sanguine child Why a Captain Choleric child may need appropriate opportunities for control and accomplishment Why a Peaceful Phlegmatic child may need quiet, routine, and time to communicate Why a Meticulous Melancholy child may need planning and alone time to process How to stop asking, “Why is my child doing that?” and start asking, “What does my child need from me?” How understanding your child's personality can help create greater peace and harmony at home And remember: you don't have to be a perfect parent. Cyndy openly shares that she made mistakes, too. The goal isn't perfection—it's becoming more aware, compassionate, and willing to understand the child God has entrusted to you. 💛 FREE BACK-TO-SCHOOL GUIDE: Download the Back-to-School Guide for Parents and use it to help your children identify what they may need when they come home from school each day. If this episode gives you an “aha!” moment, share it with another parent, grandparent, teacher, or caregiver who wants stronger, more peaceful relationships with the children in their lives. And as Romans 14:19 reminds us, let's pursue peace, harmony, strengthening, and encouragement in our relationships.  - - - - - Download my free Back-to-School Guide for Parents: https://cyndybartelli.com/backtoschool   Grab a copy of The Heart Healer: https://cyndybartelli.com/hearthealerbook   Dive deeper with The Heart Healer Online Course: https://cyndybartelli.com/THHcourse   Support the Relationship Reality Podcast through Vertical Hearts: https://cyndybartelli.com/give
