KAPTENS LOGG A podcast about being human. Recorded somewhere between the forest, family life, training, fatherhood, curiosity, chaos and the occasional existential crisis. No gurus. No perfect answers. No ten-step system for becoming your best f*****g self. Just one man thinking out loud about strength, weakness, masculinity, relationships, survival, meaning, modern life, and the strange animal underneath all the civilized layers. Sometimes serious. Sometimes stupid. Usually somewhere in between. No map. Just a log. Kaptens Logg Instagram Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

    #336 - HOMO OBSELETUS

HOMO OBSOLETUS Same animal. Different world. For thousands of years, we've been driven by the same instincts. Attraction, survival, status, belonging. Then civilization happened. We built a world of comfort, safety and predictability. We wrote the rules for a good life. And then the world changed. Faster than our culture. Faster than our expectations. Perhaps faster than we can adapt. So here we are. The most advanced version of humanity, increasingly confused about how to be human. Are we evolving, adapting, or slowly becoming obsolete? A slightly inappropriate exploration of human nature, mating rituals, outdated cultural software and the magnificent absurdity of modern civilization. Welcome to Homo Obsoletus. Hosted on Acast. #335 - PEAK LIFE

12 hours of sleep. Birds singing. Life suspiciously wonderful. Have I reached peak life? A slightly ridiculous morning turns into a reflection on happiness, the surprisingly simple recipe for a good life, and the curious phenomenon of winter depression. Perhaps life isn't that complicated. Perhaps we're just making it complicated. Or perhaps I just needed some sleep. #CaptainsLog #PeakLife #FieldNotes Hosted on Acast. #334 - UNTILL IT HAPPENS

Who do you think you are when things go terribly wrong? Would you freeze? Run? Fight? Act? And how could you possibly know? We tend to judge our capabilities from the comfort of a world where our lives aren't on the line. But what happens when you add fear, rage, desperation, adrenaline, and the overwhelming instinct to survive? What if there's something inside you that you've never met? Something capable of far more than you imagine. Or perhaps far less. Drawing from my experiences with violence, firefighting, martial arts and military training, I explore the strange distance between who we believe we are and who reality might reveal. Some people underestimate themselves. Others are dangerously convinced of abilities they've never tested. And some have already met that other version of themselves. But until it happens, how much do you really know? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

    #333 - MY FRIEND VIKTOR

MY FRIEND VIKTORSome men are forged in the dark forests of Scandinavia. Viktor is one of them. A hunter. Strongman. Carpenter. Father. Soldier. Built like a Viking, with the eyes of a kind old Labrador. We met during military training. Naturally, we started testing each other. Unfortunately for Viktor, he had unknowingly entered a competition in which I hold a black belt. Behind the enormous muscles and questionable sense of humor, I discovered something rare. A genuinely good man. Intelligent, capable, humble and kind. The kind of man you'd trust with your life. And then he asked me a question that made me think. Because perhaps the strongest man in the room isn't the one with all the answers. Perhaps it's the one brave enough to question what everyone else takes for granted. This one's for you, Viktor. You magnificent bastard. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

    #332 - GO BACK

What if you don’t need more? Another promotion. A bigger house. More money. More experiences. Another upgrade. Maybe the life you’re trying to build is taking you further away from the things you actually miss? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

    #331 - STRIDSBEREDSKAP

How good are you at honestly assessing your own state? Not how you should feel. Not what your ego tells you. How you actually feel. Body. Mind. Emotions. Energy.Green. Orange. Red. And the most important question: What are you going to do about it? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

#330 - THE SIZE OF FEAR

THE SIZE OF FEAR Fear is a strange thing. It can keep us alive. It can also keep us from living. I've spent a large part of my life deliberately walking toward things that scared me. Fighting. Fire. Standing in front of people. Situations where every instinct in the body says: get the f**k out. And somewhere along the way, I learned something. Fear is real. But it's also just a feeling. And a feeling doesn't necessarily get to decide what happens next. The strange part is what happens after you've met fear in its rawest form. The scale changes. Things that once looked enormous become small. Everyday fears become noise. And sometimes you find yourself strangely disconnected from a world where people are terrified of things your nervous system barely registers anymore. Maybe courage isn't being fearless. Maybe it's learning the true size of fear. And realizing that sometimes, the monster guarding the door... is just a feeling asking whether you're willing to walk through anyway. Hosted on Acast. #329 - THE SILENT STANDARD

You can walk uphill every day and become stronger without ever being told that you've improved. That's an interesting thing about leadership. Standards matter. Pressure matters. Correction matters. But so does helping people understand where they actually stand. Because if the only feedback comes when something goes wrong, even a thinking person eventually feels the weight of that silence. Some reflections on military training, leadership, feedback, responsibility and what six weeks inside that system taught me about leading people. The standard should be high. But it shouldn't have to be silent. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
