Why Gaza Won’t Disarm | David Matlin

The United States has carried out a fifth consecutive day of strikes on Iran, hitting targets around Tehran for the first time in the current campaign. Tehran has responded by attempting to target U.S. military assets in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and the UAE. Meanwhile, President Trump has welcomed the release of American citizen Dena Karari, calling it a “gesture of goodwill” by Tehran. Karari, who had been barred from leaving Iran since late 2024 after being accused of espionage, is now on her way back to the United States, according to her lawyer. Elsewhere, Syria says it has intercepted a shipment of advanced weapons allegedly destined for Hezbollah, while the IDF says it has killed three Hezbollah operatives inside southern Lebanon’s security zone and destroyed more than 1,500 Hezbollah sites in a major operation along the border. In Gaza, Israeli forces have destroyed four Hamas weapons depots and killed the group’s sniper commander, as Morocco confirms it has deployed troops to the emerging international stabilisation force. And Colombia’s incoming government says it will open an embassy in Jerusalem and fully restore diplomatic ties with Israel, reversing the anti-Israel policies of outgoing president Gustavo Petro and signalling another shift to the right in Latin America. Today’s guest is Israeli broadcaster, IDF reservist and security expert David Matlin. He explains why disarming Hamas may prove even harder than defeating it, arguing that for many young Gazans an AK-47 represents not just ideology, but security, status and survival. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Sign up to receive Israel in 10 daily: https://izs.activetrail.biz/Israel-in-10-Sign-Up Sponsorship inquiries: MisgavDailyBrief@gmail.com

Egypt and Turkey’s Unholy Alliance | Khaled Hassan

Iran has launched fresh attacks on U.S. military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan after a fourth consecutive night of American strikes on Iranian military targets. As the U.S. Navy tightens its blockade of Iran, Tehran is threatening to shut down additional shipping routes beyond the Strait of Hormuz, raising fears the conflict could spread to the Red Sea. President Trump warns he could target Iran’s power plants and bridges unless Tehran returns to negotiations. Meanwhile, an Israeli soldier has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of spying for Iran, passing missile interception footage and other security videos to Iranian handlers in exchange for money after being recruited through Telegram. Elsewhere, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to travel to Washington this weekend as the conflict with Iran intensifies. While no meeting with President Trump has been confirmed, reports suggest Trump is expected to press Netanyahu to withdraw Israeli troops from Syria and Lebanon, despite Israeli officials insisting there has been no change to the country’s military posture. Today’s guest is Khaled Hassan, Egypt expert and Senior Fellow at the Ideological Defence Institute. He warns that Israel is overlooking the rapidly expanding strategic partnership between Egypt and Turkey, arguing that the two countries are increasingly coordinating militarily, producing drones and preparing for a future confrontation with their common enemy: Israel. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Sign up to receive Israel in 10 daily: https://izs.activetrail.biz/Israel-in-10-Sign-Up

Iran’s Boiling Frog Strategy | Khosro Isfahani

Iran has attacked two Emirati supertankers with cruise missiles and attacked Bahrain and Jordan in retaliation for a third night of US airstrikes on targets across the country. President Trump informs Congress that the war has resumed and orders a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz. A new Reuters poll shows nearly 80 percent of Americans now expect the war with Iran to continue for the long term, although only 37 percent support the U.S. military campaign. Meanwhile, Israeli and Lebanese negotiators are meeting in Rome for the latest round of ceasefire talks, as Beirut pushes for an Israeli withdrawal from parts of southern Lebanon under a pilot plan. France pushes for the UN Security Council to renew a mandate for the failed UN peacekeeping force UNIFIL. In Gaza, Israel says it has killed Hamas’s naval commander along with three more terrorists, while the European Commission has unveiled a new $1 billion reconstruction initiative backed by 15 countries and international organisations. Elsewhere, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi is making his first visit to the White House in a bid to strengthen ties with Washington, despite fresh defiance from pro-Iranian militias refusing to disarm. Today’s guest is Khosro Isfahani, Research Director at the National Union for Democracy in Iran (NUFDI). He says the Islamic Republic is deploying a ‘boiling frog’ strategy with the West, constantly testing its boundaries until it will be too weak to respond to its aggression. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Sign up to receive Israel in 10 daily: https://izs.activetrail.biz/Israel-in-10-Sign-Up Sponsorship inquiries: MisgavDailyBrief@gmail.com

We Cannot Surrender to Iran | Ahmed Khuzaie

A second night of US airstrikes on dozens of military targets in Iran has triggered retaliatory attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Oman, with Tehran also claiming it has closed the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s leadership is hardening its rhetoric, vowing justice and vengeance for the killing of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, while praising the death of US Senator Lindsey Graham. Newly released Hamas documents also reveal that October 7 mastermind Yahya Sinwar believed Israel might respond to his planned invasion with a nuclear strike on Gaza, yet pressed ahead regardless. Meanwhile, the European Union is considering a ban on imports from Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria, while Britain has announced a record £250 million security package to protect Jewish communities following a surge in antisemitic attacks. Elsewhere, Israel has officially set October 27 as the date for its next general election. A new Kan 11 poll puts former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot’s newly launched Yashar party ahead of Likud for the first time, with Israelis also rating Eisenkot as a more suitable prime minister than Benjamin Netanyahu. Today’s guest is Ahmed Khuzaie, a Bahraini political commentator and researcher. He argues that now is not the time for the US, Israel and the Gulf states to seek compromise with Tehran. Instead, he says, they must work together to defeat the Iranian regime—or risk forfeiting any chance of lasting peace and stability in the Middle East. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Sign up to receive Israel in 10 daily: https://izs.activetrail.biz/Israel-in-10-Sign-Up Sponsorship inquiries: MisgavDailyBrief@gmail.com

Israel’s Turkey Problem | Hay Eytan Cohen Yanarocak

A second night of US airstrikes on dozens of targets in Iran trigger Iranian attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar. Israel has placed the IDF on high alert amid concerns the conflict could spread beyond the Persian Gulf. Ayatollah Khamenei’s multiday funeral continues as his body is brought back from Iraq to his hometown of Mashaad. Meanwhile, Israel has pushed back against suggestions it is preparing to withdraw from southern Lebanon. Defence Minister Israel Katz insists the IDF will remain inside its security zone until Hezbollah is disarmed, highlighting growing differences between Washington and Jerusalem over the future of Lebanon. Elsewhere, the United States is moving to remove Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, as President Trump promises to lift the remaining barriers to the country’s reconstruction. And Jerusalem has been named the world’s seventh-best city in the 2026 Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards, topping the rankings for the Middle East and North Africa. Today’s guest is Hay Eytan Cohen Yanarocak, Turkey expert at the Moshe Dayan Center. He explains how Erdogan’s Turkey has played both sides in the Russia – Ukraine war, forged a close relationship with President Trump and made Ankara indispensable to Europe’s defence. This, he argues, means Turkey, is a growing threat to Israel. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Sign up to receive Israel in 10 daily: https://izs.activetrail.biz/Israel-in-10-Sign-Up Sponsorship inquiries: MisgavDailyBrief@gmail.com

We don’t need our Arab neighbours to love us | Miri Eisin

President Trump says the ceasefire deal with Iran is over after the United States launched a new wave of strikes in response to Iranian attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran retaliated by targeting Bahrain and Kuwait, while NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte defended the American action as “absolutely necessary”, saying Iran had violated the ceasefire. Meanwhile, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has cancelled his planned visit to Israel as the regional crisis intensifies. The visit had been expected to focus in part on reports that Washington may approve the sale of F-35 stealth fighter jets to Turkey, a move strongly opposed by Jerusalem. Elsewhere, thousands of mourners have gathered in Iraq for the latest stage of the funeral of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as Baghdad tries to balance its close ties with Tehran ahead of a high-stakes visit to Washington. Egypt’s World Cup campaign has ended in bitter controversy after players, coaches and pundits accused FIFA and match officials of favouring Argentina in their dramatic last-16 defeat. Israel has agreed to extend its humanitarian mission in Venezuela after the country’s interim president personally requested Israeli experts remain to help oversee earthquake reconstruction efforts. Today’s guest is Colonel Miri Eisin, former adviser to the Israeli Prime Minister and former intelligence officer. She argues that Israel needs to pursue realistic diplomacy with its Arab neighbours. They don’t have to love Israel, she says, but practical cooperation should not be held hostage to political rhetoric. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Sign up to receive Israel in 10 daily: https://izs.activetrail.biz/Israel-in-10-Sign-Up Sponsorship inquiries: MisgavDailyBrief@gmail.com

The West’s Wishful Thinking on Syria | Adi Schwartz

French President Emmanuel Macron narrowly escapes a bombing in Damascus after explosive devices detonated near his hotel moments after his motorcade departed, highlighting the instability as Europe deepens its engagement with Syria’s new leadership. Meanwhile, Iran is once again threatening to walk away from negotiations with the United States, insisting talks cannot continue under what it calls American “threats”. The warning comes after the IRGC attacked a gas tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, raising fresh concerns over maritime security and potentially delaying a British-French naval mission to protect shipping in the Gulf. In Gaza, Hamas says it has dissolved its government and will hand civilian administration to a U.N.-backed technocratic committee under the U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement. Israel has dismissed the move as purely cosmetic, arguing that as long as Hamas retains its weapons, it remains the real authority in the Strip. Elsewhere, the IDF has carried out another strike against a suspicious vehicle in southern Lebanon as tensions continue over the implementation of the ceasefire, while a new wave of French aliyah has arrived in Israel, with more than 6,500 French Jews immigrating since the October 7 attacks amid rising antisemitism in France. Today’s guest is Dr Adi Schwarz, Director of Research at Misgav. He argues that the Europeans have a bad case of wishful thinking when it comes to Syria and that despite Hamas’s latest announcement, nothing has fundamentally changed in Gaza. He says Western governments continue to misunderstand both Hamas and the wider regional reality. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Sign up to receive Israel in 10 daily: https://izs.activetrail.biz/Israel-in-10-Sign-Up Sponsorship inquiries: MisgavDailyBrief@gmail.com
