    William Carlos Williams The Poor

William Carlos Williams The Poor It’s the anarchy of poverty (that) delights me, the old yellow wooden house indented among the new brick tenements. Or a cast-iron balcony with panels showing oak branches in full leaf. It fits the dress of the children. Reflecting every stage and custom of necessity-Chimneys, roofs, fences of wood and metal in an unfenced age and enclosing next to nothing at all: the old man in a sweater and soft black hat who sweeps the sidewalk- His own ten feet of it In a wind that fitfully turning his corner has overwhelmed the entire city.

Then again she comes to the curb to call the ice-cream man, fish-man, and stands shy, uncorseted, tucking in stray ends of her hair, and I compare her to a fallen leaf. The noiseless wheels of my car rush with a crackling sound over dried leaves as I bow any pass smiling.

    The Gingerbread Man

The Gingerbread Man is a short story about a freshly baked cookie who leaps from the oven and makes a run for it, leaving a little old couple far behind. With each escape, his confidence grows as he outpaces shredders, lawnmowers, a cow, and a pig — boasting louder with every stride. But when he crosses paths with a fox, quick as lightning, the little man's winning streak meets its match in the most dramatic and darkly funny way possible. https://ririro.com/fairy-tales/the-gingerbread-man/

    The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing

The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing (Perry Index 451) is one of Aesop’s most widely quoted fables and the origin of the English idiom "a wolf in sheep’s clothing." The phrase also appears in the Bible (Matthew 7:15), where Jesus warns: "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." Whether the biblical usage influenced later tellings of the fable, or vice versa, has been debated by scholars for centuries. The fable appears in numerous classical collections and was retold by Jean de La Fontaine in his Fables (1668). Americanliterature.com

    The Boy Who Cried Wolf

The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf" is one of Aesop's most enduring fables, following a bored shepherd boy who amuses himself by crying wolf to lure worried villagers away from their work. Twice they come running, and twice they find him laughing. But when a real wolf emerges from the shadows at dusk and tears into the flock, the boy's desperate cries go unanswered — the villagers have learned not to trust him. The fable builds quiet dread as the boy's idle mischief leads to irreversible consequences. https://ririro.com/fables/the-shepherd-boy-and-the-wolf/
