Perspectives - With Maree Burgess

Maree Burgess

Perspectives are recordings that are like affirmations and reframes for your mind. They are not meditations, though they can be used like. I'm an occasional meditator - though I've tried to be consistent in the past - I struggle to form a meditating habit, so I created recordings for myself that I could listen to anytime. I started asking clients, colleagues, and friends if they could have a purpose-created perspective, what would they want to hear? You can listen to any of these while walking or cooking, or just hanging around (probably not when you are driving - just in case you trance out). Perspective has been a word buzzing around in my head for years. It's like seeing through our ‘tunnel vision’ (a narrow perspective) versus seeing through our ‘peripheral vision’ (a wide perspective). My Perspective recordings are about widening or changing a perspective you may have that possibly limits you. Enjoy : ) Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

    Is this just midlife?

When work feels exhausting or life changes in several ways at once, it’s easy to think, “I can’t keep doing this.” Whether you’re facing redundancy, questioning your career, caring for ageing parents or adjusting to an empty nest, what’s happening is real. But the meaning you’ve attached to it may be only one way of seeing it. In this episode of Perspectives, we explore how to separate the facts of a situation from the story you’re telling yourself about it. You’ll try a simple question—“What else could this mean?”—to open up more possibilities and find a little more choice in what you do next. You don’t need to have the answer today. Start by getting curious about the perspective you’re looking through. Hit Follow so you don't miss an episode. And if you're ready to create lasting change, not just in how you lead, but in how you experience your work and your life...I'd love to help. I work with ambitious women leaders who are ready to move beyond overwhelm, build genuine confidence, and lead with clarity, influence and calm. Rewind Your Day and Re-decide Something

The quality of your life is often less about what happened and more about what you decided it meant. Because we are meaning-making creatures. Something happens. Someone says something. A plan changes. A client hesitates. The money isn't there yet. The conversation doesn't go the way we'd hoped, and almost instantly, we decide what it means. This isn't working. They don't want it. I'm behind. I failed. This is going to be hard. It always happens this way. And once we decide that, our minds get busy, very busy, gathering evidence to prove us right. And, it doesn't have to be that way. Hit Follow so you don't miss an episode. And if you're ready to create lasting change, not just in how you lead, but in how you experience your work and your life... I'd love to help. I work with ambitious professional women in their 40s and 50s who are ready to move beyond overwhelm, build genuine confidence, and live with clarity, influence and calm.
