The Sisterhood Sessions: Episode 13 with Sara Torpey

Even though you’re a solopreneur, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. This belief is exactly why I created The Solopreneur Sisterhood and why I’d love to have you join us for our first virtual conference, Gather & Grow. Gather & Grow isn’t just another online conference. It’s an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day demands of your business, make meaningful progress on what matters most, and build genuine relationships with other heart-centered women who understand the journey. As we count down to the conference, I’m introducing you to some of the incredible women who will be sharing their wisdom with our community. Today, I’m excited to introduce you to Sara Torpey, a business coach and founder of the Uncomplicating Business Lab. Sara helps the teachers, givers, and helpers of the world make their service-based businesses simpler. In our conversation, we talk about: ✨ The belief that we’re somehow behind in our businesses or our lives, and the incredibly freeing realization that you can’t actually be behind your own success. ✨ Why there isn’t one “right” way to build a business, and how giving ourselves permission to experiment can take away some of the pressure we put on ourselves to get everything right the first time. ✨ The reality of trying to grow a business while also parenting, managing a household, serving clients, finding new clients, and navigating everything else life brings; and why learning to be kind to yourself can be one of the most valuable business lessons you ever learn. ✨ Why community and collaboration played such an important role in Sara learning how to give herself more grace and recognize that what works beautifully for someone else might not fit her life at all. We also talk about Sara’s Gather & Grow workshop, Uncomplicating Connection and Networking. If the word networking makes you cringe a little, you’re definitely not alone. Sara believes a big part of the problem is that we’ve been taught to think about networking as something transactional: meet the “right” people, get the “right” result, and make sure every connection somehow moves your business forward. No wonder it can feel terrible. Her workshop is about finding a way to connect and network that actually feels like you. Sara hopes that if you come into her workshop feeling like networking just isn’t your thing, you’ll leave with one small but meaningful shift: Maybe I can do this. If you’ve ever felt like you’re behind, like you’re doing business wrong, or like networking just isn’t for you, I think you’ll get so much from this conversation with Sara. And if you’ve been longing for a place where you can learn practical strategies, have honest conversations, celebrate the small wins, and connect with other purpose-driven women who understand that building a business is a process, I’d love to invite you to join us for Gather & Grow this October. The Sisterhood Sessions: Episode 12 with Jackie Klein

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to Jackie Klein, a HoneyBook systems strategist and consultant who helps business owners think through their workflows before they start building them. In our conversation, we talk about: ✨ Why Jackie initially thought she didn’t need colleagues anymore, and how quickly she discovered that building a business without a supportive community can get lonely. ✨ Why your booking and inquiry process matters so much, and how a system can help make sure potential clients don’t disappear simply because you didn’t have time to respond or didn’t know they had reached out. ✨ Why you don’t have to wait until you have a “big enough” business to create systems. Building your process while you still have the time to think it through can make it much easier to grow as more inquiries and clients come your way. We also talk about Jackie’s Gather & Grow workshop, The Booking Black Hole: Finding Why Inquiries Disappear. This isn’t a workshop where you’ll simply sit back and listen to Jackie teach. Instead, you’ll actually get out a piece of paper and pencil and map out your own inquiry and booking process, with Jackie there to answer questions and help you think it through. By the end of Jackie’s workshop, you’ll have a clearer picture of the experience you want potential clients to have when they inquire, and a process you can take with you to build into your systems. And if you’ve been telling yourself that you’ll get to your systems later, I think this conversation might give you a new perspective. And if you’ve been longing for a place where you can learn practical strategies, have honest conversations, celebrate the small wins, and connect with other purpose-driven women who understand that building a business is a process, I’d love to invite you to join us for Gather & Grow this October. The Sisterhood Sessions: Episode 11 with Jo-Anne Swensson

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to Jo Swensson, host of the Untamed and Unfiltered Wellness Podcast, herbalist, somatic healer, and founder of Olivia Bell, a holistic wellness company that helps women navigate stress and improve their sleep. Jo’s own experience navigating menopause led her to recognize a gap in the resources available to women, particularly those looking for holistic approaches. Her work brings together herbs, somatic practices, and a focus on getting to the root of what’s happening rather than simply addressing symptoms. In our conversation, we talk about: ✨ What happens when the traditional business models we’ve been taught don’t actually fit the realities of being a woman running a business alongside family, work, and everything else life asks of us. ✨ Why Jo had to learn to create a different way of working after realizing that the way she’d always operated wasn’t working in the same way anymore. ✨ The importance of stepping outside our comfort zones and finding a safe space where we can ask for help, especially when we’re used to being the person everyone else turns to for support. ✨ Why Jo believes that as solopreneurs, we don’t have to separate our business from the rest of our lives, and how letting go of that expectation can be incredibly freeing. We also spend time talking about her Gather & Grow workshop, Flow State Isn’t an Accident — It’s a Cycle. Jo challenges the idea that getting into a flow state is something that either magically happens or requires an incredible amount of discipline. Instead, she’s developed a repeatable framework that helps her work with the natural ebbs and flows of her energy throughout the month. In her Gather & Grow workshop, Jo hopes you’ll walk away with a different perspective on what it means to build a business that works for you. Her workshop will help you see that there’s another way to accomplish your goals while honoring your energy, your commitments, and where you are right now. If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing business “wrong” because you can’t (or don’t want to) follow the traditional rules, I think you’ll get so much from this conversation with Jo. And if you’ve been longing for a place where you can learn practical strategies, have honest conversations, celebrate the small wins, and connect with other purpose-driven women who understand that building a business is a process, I’d love to invite you to join us for Gather & Grow this October. The Sisterhood Sessions: Episode 10 with Heather D. Black

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to Heather Black, a stage-driven visibility strategist and founder of Phoenix Collaborations, who helps heart-centered coaches, consultants, authors, speakers, and service providers stop chasing stages and start choosing them strategically. With more than 20 years of experience on the other side of the stage as a meeting planner, Heather knows what gets speakers booked, what makes an audience lean in, and how to help purpose-driven business owners find the right stages, rooms, and messages for their businesses. In our conversation, we talk about: ✨ Why chasing every speaking opportunity isn’t necessarily the best visibility strategy, and how choosing the right stages can help you make a bigger impact while actually moving your business forward. ✨ The unrealistic expectations we often see online about how quickly a new business should replace your income, and the invisible work and learning that happens behind the scenes as we build something of our own. ✨ Why heart-centered business owners can struggle with sales, and how shifting from “I’m selling something” to “I’m offering a service that can help this person” can change the way we approach those conversations. Heather also shares more about what she’ll cover in her Gather & Grow workshop: Get Strategic, Get Paid: The Three Stages Every Solopreneur Needs. In this interactive workshop, Heather will introduce you to three different types of stages: visibility, authority, and owned, and the specific job each one is designed to do. You’ll learn about visibility stages and how they can help you get in front of people who don’t know you yet and begin building those connections. And no matter how much experience you have, you’ll walk away with a better understanding of how your different opportunities can work together to support your bigger business goals. If you’ve been wanting to explore speaking as part of your visibility strategy, or you’ve been wondering how to make your speaking opportunities support your business goals, I think you’ll get so much from this conversation with Heather. And if you’ve been longing for a place where you can learn practical strategies, have honest conversations, celebrate the small wins, and connect with other purpose-driven women who understand that building a business is a process, I’d love to invite you to join us for Gather & Grow this October. Episode #24: What If You Don’t Know What’s Next?

Show Notes In this episode, Becky sits down with Pamela Schoessling, a coach who helps people navigate transitions, clarify what matters to them, and explore what might be possible for their future. Together, Becky and Pamela explore what it looks like to navigate those moments when you know something needs to change, but you don’t know exactly where you want to go. Pamela shares her SPARCK life design process and explains how looking at your story, purpose, aspirations, reflection, connections, and next steps can help you begin to uncover a direction that feels right for you. Whether you’re navigating a career transition, reconsidering your business, or simply wondering what might be next, this conversation is a beautiful reminder that you don’t have to have the entire path figured out before you take the next step. In this episode, you’ll learn: * Why looking back at your own story can help you figure out what comes next * How your values, purpose, and what gives you positive energy can guide your decisions * What to do when you feel drawn toward an idea but immediately start talking yourself out of it * How connection and community can support you when you’re navigating change * Why being clear about your purpose and your “why” matters when building a business Inspiration for this week: You don’t have to know exactly where you’re going to start exploring what might be possible. Pay attention to what gives you energy. Get curious. Gather information. Try things out. Let your path evolve as you learn more about yourself and what matters most to you. About Pamela Schoessling: Pamela Schoessling, M.A. Ed., is the founder of LightVision Coaching & Consulting. The Sisterhood Sessions: Episode 9 with Dr. Catrina Mitchum

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to Dr. Catrina Mitchum, a recovering academic and course creation consultant who helps small business owners create courses that actually help people get what they came for.In our conversation, we talk about: ✨ Why practice and application are such important parts of learning, and how simply giving people videos or content isn’t enough to help them actually use what they’re learning. ✨ Why a course isn’t automatically the next step for every business, despite the common belief that courses and passive income are the path to scaling. ✨ How your one-on-one experience can help you identify the patterns and teachable pieces that may (or may not) translate well into a course.Catrina also shares a bit more of what we’ll cover in her workshop at Gather & Grow: Is a Course the Next Right Step for Your Business? If you’ve ever thought, I should probably create a course, this workshop is an opportunity to pause before you pour hours of time, energy, and resources into creating one. Rather than assuming a course is the answer, Catrina will help you look at your own business and explore the specific strategic jobs a course can do, where it might fit, and whether you’re actually ready for one. If you’ve been wondering whether a course is the right next step for your business, or if you’ve simply been feeling the pressure to create one because it seems like that’s what everyone else is doing, I think you’ll really enjoy this conversation with Catrina. And if you’ve been longing for a place where you can learn practical strategies, have honest conversations, make progress on your business, and build genuine relationships with other purpose-driven women, I’d love to invite you to join us for Gather & Grow this October. Episode #23: Building a Business That Evolves with You

Show Notes In this episode, Becky and Jason wrap up their conversation about capacity, priorities, and building a business that actually works with your life. Life is going to change. Your priorities will change. Your capacity will change. And sometimes the economy, the market, or the way people buy will change, too. So rather than building a business that only works when everything goes according to plan, what if you built one that could adapt along the way? Becky and Jason talk about what it means to build a resilient business; one that supports the life you want to live rather than requiring you to constantly rearrange your life around your business. They also talk about making thoughtful decisions about your offers, revenue goals, and marketing strategies based on your actual capacity instead of someone else’s version of what your business should look like. Becky shares why realistic goals and a little planning can help you create a business that is sustainable for the long run. Most importantly, this episode is a reminder that changing your business isn’t a sign that you’ve failed. Your business is allowed to evolve as you evolve. The goal isn’t to build something once and make it work forever; it’s to create a business that can grow and change alongside you. In this episode, you’ll learn: * How planning ahead can make vacations, holidays, and other busy seasons easier * How to evaluate an offer or goal based on the time and energy it requires (not just the potential outcome) * Why it’s important to notice what you enjoy, what you don’t enjoy, and what isn’t producing the results you want * How to maintain momentum without feeling like your business has to grow every single month * Why changing your business as your life and priorities change is a sign of adaptation (not failure) Inspiration for this week: Does your business support the life you want to live right now? Take some time to pause and look at your business as it exists today. What is working well? What isn’t? What are you doing simply because you thought you were supposed to? And what has changed in your life, priorities, or capacity that your business hasn’t caught up with yet? You don’t have to change everything at once. Start by getting curious about what could work better and give yourself permission to let your business evolve with you. In case we haven’t met before… Welcome, Kindred Spirit! The Sisterhood Sessions: Episode 8 with Jackie Brown

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to Jackie Brown, a communications coach and advisor who helps leaders, professionals, coaches, entrepreneurs, and CEOs find their voice when the pressure is on. In our conversation, we talk about: ✨ Why the pressure to perform can make us feel like we need to have the perfect pitch, offer, or message; and how shifting our focus from being polished to being connected can change everything. ✨ Why your offers and ideas don’t have to be perfect before you share them, and how treating your business as an experiment can help you learn, gather feedback, and build momentum. ✨ Why your personality, humanity, and the way you connect with people may be some of your greatest differentiators, even when you’re working in an industry that feels crowded. ✨ Why leading with curiosity instead of relying on scripts and templates can make business conversations feel more natural, meaningful, and aligned with who you are. Jackie and I also talk about the pressure we can feel when we’re visible online or talking about what we do. It’s easy to get caught up in wondering, How are people going to perceive me? What are they going to think? But when we shift our focus from ourselves to the person in front of us—from How am I coming across? to How can I help?—it becomes much easier to show up authentically. That’s at the heart of Jackie’s workshop at Gather & Grow, How to Talk About What You Do and Why AI Can’t Do It For You. Instead of giving you another script or template to memorize, Jackie will help you explore how curiosity and genuine connection can help you talk about your work in a way that feels natural and uniquely yours. And because this is a workshop (not just a presentation), you’ll have the opportunity to practice these ideas in real-time conversations and get feedback along the way. You’ll even walk away with one genuine question you can use in business conversations to open the door to deeper, more meaningful conversations about your work. If you’ve ever struggled to explain what you do without feeling like you’re bragging or pitching, or if you’ve spent way too much time trying to come up with the perfect way to describe your business, I think you’ll really enjoy this conversation with Jackie. And if you’ve been longing for a place where you can learn practical strategies, have honest conversations, step away from the pressure to have it all figured out, and build genuine relationships with other purpose-driven women, I’d love to invite you to join us for Gather & Grow this October.
