Still Building

Faith

Still Building is a podcast for the woman who has it all together — accomplished, capable, the one everyone leans on — and is quietly realizing there's another layer waiting. Hosted by Faith, a labor-and-delivery nurse turned healthcare leader who became a mother at 17 and built a life from there, each episode says the honest thing out loud: the parts of midlife, identity, grief, and reinvention we were taught to keep quiet. Not because she has it figured out — because someone should go first. Becoming, honestly. Told from the middle, not the finish line.

Grief Doesn’t Stop When Life Keeps Moving

A gentle note before you press play — this episode goes to tender places. We talk about grief, loss, and the people we carry with us. If you are in a hard season right now please be kind to yourself as you listen. This one is worth it — but take your time getting there. Grief is one of the things we carry the longest and talk about the least. We tuck it away so life can keep going. We perform okayness long before we feel it. We tell ourselves we should be over it by now. We are not over it. We are just carrying it differently. In this episode I dedicate time to the people I have lost — my brother Luke, who died at 16 and whose quiet gentle presence I still see in my youngest son. My dad, a wonderful and complicated man who broke a painful family cycle and gave us something he never had. My father-in-law Enrique — the most uncomplicated love our family has ever known — whose unexpected loss less than a year ago still catches me off guard every single day. And my mom — the strongest woman I have ever known — who has taught me more about carrying grief than anyone else in my life. Not by pushing through it. But by sitting down in it. With grace. With faith. With presence. This episode is also for you — wherever your grief lives. Because grief is not only about death. It shows up in relationships that ended, seasons that are over, dreams that didn't come true, and losses that don't always have names. And for the women walking beside someone who is grieving — I want to offer you the most important thing my mom taught me. You don't have to fix it. You just have to stay. Still Building is a podcast about becoming — honestly.New episodes every week on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Becoming a Mother Before Becoming Yourself

More Than One Chapter: Identity Beyond Roles and Seasons When she was a pregnant teenager, a nurse midwife told her something she's carried for decades: this is part of your story, not your whole story. In this episode, she returns to those words and unpacks what they've meant through every season since. She opens up about the freer life she quietly imagined before becoming a mother at 17, and speaks directly to any woman who stepped into a role — mother, caregiver, partner, provider — before she fully knew herself, often without space to grieve the "becoming" that got interrupted. Along the way, she shares what three very different children taught her: growing up alongside her daughter, parenting her son with more patience while rebuilding community in a new city, and learning presence and flexibility from her tender-hearted youngest. When her daughter left for college, she came face to face with the question so many mothers eventually ask — who am I beyond this? This is an invitation to gently excavate the parts of yourself that titles and seasons may have buried. She closes with reflective questions to help you begin reclaiming the woman underneath the roles.
