How to Be a Strong Christian Wife | Find Your Strength in God

In this episode of The Wife Who Prays Podcast, we continue our Becoming the Proverbs 31 Wife series with Proverbs 31:17: “She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.” This verse reminds us that a godly wife is a woman of strength—but her strength doesn't come from having a perfect marriage, a perfect husband, or having everything under control. Her strength comes from God. If you're a wife in a difficult marriage, married to an unsaved husband, or simply struggling with your identity and wanting your husband's attention and affection to make you feel worthy, this episode is for you. We talk about what it means to know who you are in Christ and how that changes the way you love your husband. You can desire your husband's affection and want him to tell you that you're beautiful. Those desires aren't wrong. But your husband was never meant to carry the responsibility of being your source of worth. When you know who you are in Christ, you can take that weight off of your husband and give it back to God. Your husband has responsibilities before God too. Scripture calls husbands to love their wives sacrificially, just as Christ loved the church. Your husband's choices are his responsibility before God. So instead of trying to control your husband or constantly focusing on what he isn't doing, you can pray: “Lord, work in my husband's heart. Teach him to love me, cherish me, show me affection, and become the husband You've called him to be.” And then you can surrender your husband to God while allowing God to work on you. • How to find your identity in Christ instead of your husband's approval• Why your husband isn't supposed to be the source of your worth• How to stop carrying the weight of needing your husband's constant attention• What it means to “dress yourself with strength” from Proverbs 31:17• How to become stronger in the Lord during a difficult marriage• Praying for an unsaved husband without trying to control him• Allowing God to work in your husband's heart• The biblical responsibility God gives husbands to love their wives• Why you can love your husband while still having healthy boundaries• How the enemy can use insecurity, comparison, and discouragement to wear you down• Why your strength must come from God—not your circumstances Proverbs 31:17 — “She dresses herself with strength…” Psalm 139:14 — “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Philippians 4:13 — “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Ephesians 5:25 — Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church. Ephesians 6:10 — “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Every morning, remind yourself: I am a daughter of God.I am loved by God.I am fearfully and wonderfully made.My worth does not come from my husband. My identity is found in Christ.God is my source of strength. Then pray for your husband. Don't try to be his Holy Spirit. Don't try to control his heart. Give him to God. Ask God to work in him and show him how to become the husband God has called him to be. And then ask: “Lord, what are You asking me to surrender today?” You don't have to wait for your husband to change before you become the woman God is calling you to be. You can grow closer to God today. You can become stronger in Christ today. You can learn to respond with wisdom today. You can pray today. And you can trust God with the things you cannot control. How to Be a Wise Wife in a Difficult Marriage

Stop Reacting & Seek God’s Wisdom Do you ever react quickly when you're hurt, frustrated, or angry with your husband—and later wish you had handled things differently? In this episode of The Wife Who Prays Podcast, we continue our Becoming the Proverbs 31 Wife series as we dive into Proverbs 31:16: “She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard.” — Proverbs 31:16 One powerful word stands out in this verse: She considers. The Proverbs 31 woman was thoughtful and wise. She didn't simply react or make decisions without considering what she was doing. And as wives—especially those of us in difficult marriages or marriages with unsaved husbands—learning to pause, pray, and ask God for wisdom can change the way we respond. In this episode, we're talking about how to stop allowing hurt, anger, fear, and frustration to control our reactions and instead ask: “Lord, how do You want me to respond?” • What Proverbs 31:16 teaches us about wisdom and decision-making. • Why you don't have to react to everything immediately. • How pausing before responding can help prevent unnecessary conflict. • Why being a wise wife doesn't mean staying silent or hiding your feelings. • How to speak truth with love and wisdom. • What to do when you're married to an unsaved husband. • Why you cannot force your husband to follow Jesus. • How to stop trying to control what only God can change. • How to bring your emotions to God instead of allowing them to control your words. • Why a wise wife seeks to build her home rather than tear it down. • How to know when to extend grace and when to establish healthy boundaries. Proverbs 31:16 — She considers before she acts. James 1:5 — Ask God for wisdom. Proverbs 14:1 — The wise woman builds her house. 1 Peter 3 — The power of living out your faith before an unbelieving husband. The next time you feel hurt, angry, or frustrated with your husband, don't immediately react. Pause. Take a breath. And pray: “Lord, give me wisdom before I respond.” Ask yourself: • Is what I'm about to say true?• Is it necessary?• Can I say it with love?• Am I reacting from fear or from facts?• Have I prayed about this first? You don't have to ignore your feelings. You don't have to pretend something doesn't hurt. But you can bring those feelings to God and allow Him to guide your response. You don't have to solve every problem today. You don't have to respond to every comment. You don't have to make every decision immediately. Sometimes the wisest thing you can do is pause and ask: “Lord, what do You want me to do?” You cannot control your husband's choices. You cannot change his heart. But you can ask God to give you wisdom for your own choices, words, and actions. And remember: being a godly wife does not mean accepting physical abuse, living in fear, or remaining silent when you are in danger. You can love your husband, pray for him, and still have healthy boundaries and seek safety and help when needed. 🎙️ New episodes every Monday and Thursday! Proverbs 31:15 | God before anyone or anything

What happens when you stop focusing on everything your husband needs to change and start allowing God to transform you? In this episode of The Wife Who Prays Podcast, we continue our Becoming the Proverbs 31 Wife series with Proverbs 31:15: “She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household...” — Proverbs 31:15 This verse teaches us about being intentional, prepared, and faithful with what God has entrusted to us. But it also gives us an opportunity to look at something deeper: Are we putting God first in our lives and marriages? If you're married to an unsaved husband, walking through a difficult marriage, or simply struggling to know how to become the wife God has called you to be, this episode is for you. I'll also share part of my own testimony and how I began seeing changes in my marriage when I stopped focusing so much on what my husband needed to change and started allowing God to work on me. That doesn't mean everything was my fault, and it doesn't mean we can change our husbands by becoming "perfect wives." Our husbands are responsible for their own choices. But we can surrender our hearts to God. And when God changes our hearts, our responses, attitudes, words, and actions can begin to change too. • What Proverbs 31:15 teaches us about being an intentional wife. • Why putting God first is essential in a healthy marriage. • How loving God first can help you love your husband better. • What to do when your husband is unsaved or difficult. • Why you cannot change your husband's heart—but God can. • How God began changing my own marriage when I started living more intentionally as a godly wife. • Why being a godly wife does not mean being perfect. • How to care for your home without losing yourself. • Why wives need to care for themselves spiritually, emotionally, and physically. • How to respond differently when your husband makes difficult choices. • Why biblical love does not mean accepting abuse or living in fear. Proverbs 31:15 Matthew 6:33 Matthew 22:37-39 Colossians 3:23 Before you focus on your husband, your children, your home, or everything that needs to be done, give God the first moments of your day. Pray: “Lord, this day belongs to You. Show me how to become the woman You have called me to be. Change my heart, strengthen my faith, and help me love my husband with wisdom, grace, and truth.” Then choose one intentional act of kindness toward your husband and one healthy thing for yourself each day. And at the end of the week, ask yourself: “What changed in me when I put God first?” You cannot control your husband's choices. You cannot save your husband. You cannot force him to follow Jesus. But you can surrender yourself to God. You can become the woman He created you to be. You can pray. You can grow. You can choose wisdom. You can choose kindness. And you can trust God with the things you cannot control. Don't wait for your marriage to become perfect before you allow God to work in you. Let Him start right where you are. ⚠️ And remember: being a godly wife does not mean accepting physical abuse, living in fear, or enabling destructive behavior. Biblical love includes wisdom, truth, boundaries, and seeking help when necessary. 🎙️ New episodes every Monday & Thursday If this episode encouraged you, please follow the podcast, leave a comment or review, and share it with another wife who needs encouragement today. Proverbs 31:13 | Serving God With a Willing Heart

How do you become the wife God has called you to be when your husband is unsaved, difficult, distant, or simply not treating you the way you wish he would? In this episode of The Wife Who Prays Podcast, we continue our Becoming the Proverbs 31 Wife series with Proverbs 31:13: "She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands." We're going deeper into what it means to have a willing heart as a wife—even when marriage is hard. Being a godly wife isn't about being perfect, doing everything for everyone, or pretending everything is okay. It's about allowing God to shape our character, attitude, words, actions, and heart. In this episode, we'll talk about: ❤️ What it means to willingly serve God in your marriage. ❤️ Why your obedience to God isn't dependent on your husband's obedience to God. ❤️ How putting God first helps you love your husband better. ❤️ What to do when you're tired, frustrated, or feeling unappreciated. ❤️ How to stop allowing your husband's choices to determine the woman you become. ❤️ Why loving your husband doesn't mean enabling sin or accepting abuse. ❤️ How to love your husband while still having healthy boundaries. ❤️ Why taking care of yourself is also important as a wife. ❤️ How to turn everyday responsibilities into opportunities to serve God. 📖 Scriptures Mentioned: • Proverbs 31:13• Colossians 3:23• Matthew 22:37-39• Psalm 139:14 This week, spend the first 10 minutes of your morning with God before focusing on everyone else. Read Proverbs 31:13 and pray: "Lord, give me a willing heart. Help me become the woman You have called me to be, regardless of what my husband chooses. Teach me to love my husband with wisdom, grace, and truth. Help me surrender what I cannot control and trust You with my marriage." Then choose one ordinary thing each day—cooking, cleaning, helping your family, encouraging your husband, or another responsibility—and intentionally do it as an act of worship to God. And don't forget to do something healthy for yourself this week too. Rest, spend time with God, take a walk, read your Bible, or simply give yourself permission to breathe. You matter too. You don't have to wait for your husband to change before you become the woman God is calling you to be. You cannot control his choices. You cannot change his heart. But you can surrender your heart to God. You can choose kindness. You can choose wisdom. You can choose faithfulness. You can choose to grow. And you can allow God to transform you in the middle of your circumstances. Put God first, and He will teach you how to love your husband better. ⚠️ And remember: being a godly wife does not mean accepting physical abuse, living in fear, or enabling destructive behavior. Put God First in Your Marriage

Put God First in Your Marriage How do you love your husband when marriage is difficult, when he doesn't share your faith, or when he hasn't treated you the way you hoped he would? In this episode of The Wife Who Prays Podcast, we continue our Becoming the Proverbs 31 Wife series and take a deeper look at Proverbs 31:12: "She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life." What does it really mean to do your husband good when he doesn't always deserve your kindness? We're talking about something that can completely change the way you approach marriage: Putting God first. When we love God first, He teaches us how to love our husbands better—not because our husbands are perfect, but because we belong to Christ. In this episode, we'll talk about: ❤️ Why your relationship with God must come before your relationship with your husband. ❤️ How loving God helps you love your husband with greater patience, grace, and wisdom. ❤️ What Proverbs 31:12 means for a wife in a difficult marriage. ❤️ How to show kindness without becoming a doormat or ignoring sinful behavior. ❤️ Why loving your husband does not mean accepting physical abuse, manipulation, addiction, or destructive behavior. ❤️ How to pray for your husband while trusting God with what you cannot control. ❤️ Why you don't have to wait for your husband to change before you begin becoming the woman God has called you to be. ❤️ How spending time with God can change the way you respond to difficult situations in your marriage. Proverbs 31:12"She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life." Matthew 22:37-38"Love the Lord your God with all your heart..." Romans 5:8"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Galatians 5:22-23The fruit of the Spirit. Put God first every morning before you begin your day. Spend time in His Word. Pray before responding to difficult situations. Ask Him to fill your heart with His love so that you can love your husband from a place of obedience rather than exhaustion, resentment, or the need for his approval. Then choose one intentional act of kindness toward your husband each day. Not because he has earned it. Not because you're trying to change him. But because you want your life to reflect Christ. And remember: loving your husband God's way does not mean tolerating abuse or putting yourself in danger. Godly love includes wisdom, truth, boundaries, and seeking help when necessary. You cannot control your husband's choices. You cannot make him follow Jesus. You cannot change his heart. But you can surrender your heart to God. You can choose who you will become. You can choose to seek Jesus. You can choose kindness. You can choose wisdom. You can choose to let God transform you. The best way to love your husband is to love Jesus first. 🎙️ New episodes of The Wife Who Prays Podcast are released every Thursday.
