Fake Laws or Common Sense (Which is more important?)

Greetings everyone! I’m happy to report that my project is completed and things are sort of back to normal. I have one more smaller project to complete but it shouldn’t interfere with the WTNT journey too much. Have you ever had someone say, “that’s illegal?” Have you ever asked, “is that legal?” It’s ridiculous how we have become a society that is very similar to the times of Christ when man’s insane rules and laws became a religion. Sometimes we have to just do something, anything, without asking “is it legal.” As Christians we are called to serve him and seek out our salvation with “fear and trembling” but we aren’t to be slaves to a bunch of rules and “laws” that are typically based on nothing but man’s idea of what a “law” is and, most of the time, that “law” is frivilous and unecessary. Granted, the book of the law in the Bible has dozens and dozens of laws that those under the old covenant were to keep. Jesus came and fulfilled that law and put us under the new covenant where loving God and loving others became the most important laws and as we may remember from earlier episodes if we do our best to uphold those two principles he told us that all of the other “laws” will take care of themselves (or we will find we are upholding those other laws without even trying). This week, let’s chat just a bit about having common sense when it comes to so-called laws. One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?” Mark 2: 23-24 NIV He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.” Mark 2: 25-26 NIV Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” Mark 2: 27-28 NIV Thanks for reading and listening to Walking The New Testament! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work. Where Have All the Demons Gone? (They’re still here)

Hello everyone! Apologies for skipping a week! I am still elbow’s deep in a kitchen partial “remodel” and it has consumed my attention in many ways. I haven’t shirked my time in prayer and study but, you know how it is, our human nature can kick in and make it hard to concentrate and I always hope God understands! Ha! That being said, I saw something in Mark that has me wondering many things. This week I’m going to just chat a bit about Demons/evil spirits. I don’t have any kind of new revelation or anything regarding this subject but I’m hoping that we can all remember that these monsters have not gone anywhere. They are still here. And why are we not casting them out? And I just want to mention one of my favorite healings in the Bible as well. I hope you enjoy the episode and thank you for checking it out. “ “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.” Mark 1: 25-26 NIV “That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.” Mark 1: 32 NIV “and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons…” Mark 1: 34 NIV “A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. But I'm Innocent! Actually, You Are Not!

Greetings my friends! Thank you again for checking in. I want to especially thank those listeners in Japan and Russia. I hope you are getting something beneficial from this work. This week we get to witness Jesus’ kangaroo court trial. Yes… Jesus was the Son of God and he had to die for the true plans of God to be carried out, but we can compare this trial to many others throughout history, can’t we? Jesus was on trial for saying things that the “monsters” (as I fondly call them) in our world didn’t like. That still happens to this day. When monsters feel threatened, feel like their livelihoods, their percieved “power”, their status, or anything else could come to an end… well, they go to whatever lengths they have to to destroy whoever/whatever is posing that threat. Matthew 27 has a lot of stuff going on in it. We could chat about it for hours, I’m sure. This week we are going to focus on Pilate. Was he really “innocent?” And I may mention briefly the people who said if Jesus would miraculously come down from the cross they would all of a sudden believe… “When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” Matthew 27: 24 “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.” Matthew 27: 42 Thanks for reading and listening to Walking The New Testament!
