Inside a client's work wardrobe: from playing it safe to standing out

I’m sitting down with a client to talk about how a work wardrobe reset changed the way she shops, gets dressed, and shows up at work. She came into the process wanting to look more elegant, polished, and authoritative. But what she thought those things looked like in clothing wasn't necessarily what she needed. Instead of more black, grey, and safe professional basics, her wardrobe needed more colour, personality, and ease. They discuss what was keeping her stuck in a cycle of buying more of the same, and how finding a clearer personal style direction helped her feel more confident standing out at work. I’m getting into how I translate words like “elegant" and “expressive” into tangible details you can actually look for in clothing. During a personal style exploration, I look beyond what you think your work wardrobe should look like and pay attention to what makes you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourself in an outfit — including what you gravitate toward when you're not thinking about how you're being perceived. Those clues reveal the disconnect between the professional image you want to project and the clothes that actually help you feel that way. I’m also exploring why a wardrobe can look like the version of yourself you want to present at work, yet your outfits still don't feel like they represent you. When you're consuming style content that reinforces what you already believe you should wear, it's easy to keep buying the same shapes, colours, and brands without solving the real problem. Once you have a clearer style direction — including the colours and silhouettes that feel right for you — it's much easier to spot the gaps in your work wardrobe and understand what actually makes your outfits come together. Finally, I’m talking about how solving that disconnect changes your relationship with shopping. When you know what you're looking for and why, shopping becomes less of a constant background activity and more of an intentional decision. Instead of endlessly searching for the piece that will finally make your wardrobe work, you can recognize what you need, make more informed choices, and buy fewer things you'll actually wear. For this client, that meant more mental space, more confidence in her personal style, and a work wardrobe that helped her feel more visible and memorable. 3 style fixes to help you wear more of what you own

When your outfits aren’t coming together in a way you like, it’s easy to assume that the answer is more outfit inspo, finding that one perfect basic or discovering a brand you never heard of. But before you look outside of your closet, I want you to look at what’s going on with your outfits first. Wearing more of what you already own starts with understanding a few styling principles that make an outfit work. In this episode, I’m talking about the 3 style fixes that help your outfits feel intentional, look polished and come together easily. First, I’m looking at proportion. A closet can be full of perfectly fitting pieces that still don’t quite work together. I’m getting into why shopping for fit instead of size matters, how proportion affects the way an outfit looks and how small adjustments to layering and top lengths can keep you from feeling buried in fabric. Next, I’m diving into structure. If you want an outfit to feel more pulled together without looking formal, structure can make all the difference. That might mean reaching for a blazer or tailored trousers, but it can also be as simple as adding cargo pants to balance out a flowy top. You’ll learn what to look for in your own closet when an outfit feels more disheveled than effortless. Finally, I’m getting into colour and why some colours are easier to mix and match than others. Before bringing more bright or statement colours into your wardrobe, you need the right bridge colours to help everything work together. This is often the missing piece when you’re trying to recreate an outfit you saved for inspiration. Once you understand how colours work together, getting dressed in colour becomes a whole lot easier. In this episode, you’ll learn: how proportion changes the way an outfit looks, especially when layering or wearing wide leg pantsthe simple layering fix to keep your outfit from feeling bulkyhow to choose top lengths that work with different pant silhouetteswhat it means to add structure to make an outfit look polished without looking formalthe two types of structured pieces from formal to casualwhich flowy pieces in your closet can benefit from being paired with structurewhich colours make putting an outfit together easierhow to combine different colours for an outfit to feel cohesive but still interesting Connect with me on Instagram Book a discovery call

Finding your personal style after motherhood and working from home

Your wardrobe can feel completely outdated but buying a whole new one isn't always the solution. For today's guest, becoming a mom and working from home made her realize that the way she was dressing no longer felt like her. She hadn't figured out what her style was and how to bridge the gap between her closet and her current life and scrolling for more style inspiration wasn't helping. Her social media feed and ads were mostly showing her what she already owned. In this episode, we talk about what happens when you stop looking outward for the answer to your personal style and start developing a closet with your own point of view, for the life that you lead daily. The conversation shows you the 1:1 process I use to identify lifestyle gaps, build outfit formulas, and make shopping more intentional without a full overhaul. The microcapsule method that makes getting dressed easier

When your outfits feel off, trying to overhaul your closet is usually not the right first move. While a big cull, getting organized and starting with a clean slate feels productive, it's like taking the scenic route when you're already running late. It's nice, but it's not the most direct way to get you where you want to be: having a closet with the right options when you're getting dressed. After many attempted overhauls with clients and trying to solve everything at once, time and time again we made the most progress when we focused on one specific use case at a time. In this episode, I'm diving right into fixing the biggest problem you're encountering with a microcapsule and how it helps you dress for a real use case—such as postpartum life, work trips, or hosting—and lead to outfits that are easy to wear The tea: start with how you live, not with a major wardrobe reset.sloset overhauls can feel overwhelming when time, budget, and decision-making energy are limited“more put together” is hard to act on until you identify exactly where and when that matterspinpointing a specific scenario—like events, travel, or date nights—can reveal what your wardrobe needs.capsule wardrobes need to be more specific before they work for youpersonal style is about more than a cohesive closet; it brings different functions and points of view togethermicrocapsules are small groups of pieces built for one clear use case that can still work with the rest of your wardrobepurposeful additions can refresh existing outfits without requiring a complete closet overhaulyou don’t need to replace everything to feel better in your clothes Download my free microcapsule guide Connect with me on Instagram
