When Success Still Feels Like Survival: Nervous System Regulation, Embodiment and Finding Your Way Back to Yourself | Leslie Draffin

What happens when your life looks successful on the outside, but internally you feel anxious, overwhelmed, reactive, or disconnected? Leslie Draffin is a trauma-informed somatic practitioner and psychedelic microdosing guide who works with successful, spiritual women navigating overwhelm, anxiety, major transitions, relationship stress, hormonal changes, health challenges, and the feeling that their nervous system is constantly running on high alert. A former television news anchor, Leslie knows what it means to build a successful public career while feeling disconnected from her own body and inner sense of safety. Her work now combines somatic practices, nervous-system regulation, feminine embodiment, ritual, cyclical living, and—within her practice—integrative microdosing support. In this conversation, Leslie explains why she believes some high-achieving women remain stuck in survival mode even after therapy, meditation, or mindset work. We explore the relationship between the body and emotional regulation, why slowing down can feel uncomfortable, the role of ritual and embodiment, and how Leslie's SHIFT Method offers a short body-led practice for moments of overwhelm. We also discuss psychedelic microdosing and her Cyclical Microdosing Method, including the importance of responsible use, integration, and distinguishing personal frameworks from established scientific evidence. Finding Grace Through Grief: From Surviving to Thriving After Life Changes Everything | Michaela S. Cox

What happens when life keeps knocking at your door with circumstances you never expected? Michaela S. Cox is a speaker, multi-published author, and creator of the Finding Grace Through Grief book series and course. Her message is deeply personal, shaped by what she calls her 38DDD story—living with lifelong disability through legal blindness, experiencing divorce at 26, and losing her beloved husband at 38 in 2017. His death made Michaela a military widow and solo mother and forced her to navigate a completely different life than the one she had imagined. Rather than allowing those experiences to become the end of her story, Michaela began discovering ways to rebuild, redefine her life, and move from simply surviving to truly thriving. Those lessons eventually became the foundation for Finding Grace Through Grief and her broader Finding Grace in Life and in All Things framework. In this conversation, Michaela shares what grief has taught her about faith, resilience, identity, motherhood, purpose, and the courage to begin again. We also explore the five GRACE principles she uses to help others find grounding, direction, abundance, care, and practical tools for moving forward. Call to Action Watch Michaela’s TEDx talk, where she shares her personal 38DDD journey of navigating lifelong disability, divorce, and the death of her husband—and the lessons those experiences taught her about overcoming, surviving, and thriving. Building a Good Life: Intentional Living, Better Decisions and the Power of Ordinary Choices | Kirana Sidin

What does it really mean to build a good life? For Kirana Sidin, that question isn't just an idea—it's become the foundation of her work as an author, strategic life coach, and speaker. Her journey began with an unexpectedly uncomfortable moment: her youngest child called her "jobless." The comment made Kirana realize that although she had a happy and full life, she wasn't intentionally building something that felt truly her own. So she started small. Every morning, after her family left the house, she spent an hour reading with a cup of coffee and a stack of books. Those quiet moments of reading and reflection eventually became hundreds of blog posts, which later became her debut book, Cheers for a Good Life. The book became an Amazon #1 New Release in Philosophy, Ethics & Morality and an Amazon #1 Best Seller in Interpersonal Relations. Today, Kirana draws from philosophy, psychology, and everyday experience to help people think more clearly, make better decisions, and live more intentionally. Her central belief is simple: a good life isn't something we find; it's something we build, one ordinary choice at a time. In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, we explore what intentional living really looks like in a distracted world, how timeless wisdom can help with modern problems, the relationship between money and a good life, building healthier relationships, raising resilient children, and the small decisions that quietly shape who we become. Beyond Recovery: Nervous System Regulation, Intimacy, Resilience and Building a Life After Loss | Dr. Steve McGough

What happens when the body has been through something difficult, but the nervous system never receives the signal that it is safe to stand down? Dr. Steve McGough is the cofounder of Women and Couples Wellness, inventor of the hi® massage system, and holder of six U.S. and international patents. His work sits at the intersection of neuroscience, pelvic health, intimacy, fertility, nervous system regulation, and relationships. But the story behind his work is deeply personal. After his wife Wendy experienced a life-threatening infection during pregnancy, their son Luke lived for only one day. Wendy nearly died and spent two years in and out of intensive care. The surgeries left her with significant tissue adhesions, and when Steve struggled to find an existing approach that could help, he began experimenting in his garage. That work eventually became the hi® system. Steve's background includes nutritional biochemistry, neuroscience research at Wake Forest School of Medicine, a doctorate in clinical sexology, decades of martial arts and QiGong practice, and years working with women and couples. He and Wendy have also spent more than 25 years married while building three startup companies together—giving Steve a personal perspective on intimacy, grief, entrepreneurship, and maintaining a relationship under sustained pressure. In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, we explore nervous system regulation, why recovery can sometimes feel stuck, the relationship between stress and intimacy, what Eastern practices and Western neuroscience can—and cannot—tell us, and how couples can protect their relationship while navigating demanding careers, business, grief, and major life challenges. Zaidy’s War: Survival, Legacy and the Story We Carry Forward | Martin Bodek

Some stories are too important to be forgotten. Martin Bodek was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and today lives in New Jersey with his wife and three children. A technologist by day and writer by night, Martin has spent more than two decades writing freelance, primarily on Jewish-interest topics. He is also the author of fourteen books, including his latest and perhaps most meaningful work, Zaidy’s War. The book is based on the World War II memoirs of Martin’s grandfather, a man whose extraordinary life took him through some of the most difficult chapters of modern history. He served in four armies under remarkably unusual circumstances, experienced both the largest land invasion in history and the final battle of World War II, survived threats of starvation, poisoning, and cannibalism, and eventually walked approximately 1,600 miles back to Romania. His journey did not end with the war. He later emigrated to Israel, lived through the Six-Day War in Haifa, eventually settled peacefully in the United States, worked as a chef for 40 years, and completed Shas—the Talmud—fourteen times. But behind this remarkable story is something even more personal: a grandson who spent 19 years bringing his grandfather's memories to life. In this episode of Freedom Unlocked, Martin and I explore the relationship between memory and legacy, what it means to preserve a family's story, the lessons hidden inside his grandfather's survival, and what happens when one generation takes responsibility for carrying another generation's story forward. A Life Transformed, Not Defined by Grief: Finding Joy, Gratitude and Legacy After Loss | Mark Stackpole

How do you find gratitude when you have lost someone you love deeply? On this episode of Freedom Unlocked, I’m joined by Mark Stackpole, a father, husband, lifelong learner, and a man navigating one of life's most difficult experiences—the loss of his 22-year-old daughter, Corinne, to leukemia. Corinne was diagnosed with leukemia at the end of her junior year of college after becoming sick enough to seek medical attention. She began chemotherapy the very day she was diagnosed. Over the following 11 months, she endured an extraordinary treatment journey that included a bone marrow transplant and countless hospital stays, appointments, tests, and procedures. Mark and his family spent much of that time traveling hundreds of miles to be with Corinne, making sure she was never alone through the hardest parts of her treatment. Ultimately, an infection overwhelmed her weakened immune system, and Corinne passed away peacefully in her mother's arms. But Mark's story is not simply about how his family lost Corinne. It is about how they have chosen to remember and honor her life. Rather than allowing anger, bitterness, or the question of “Why her?” to define their experience, Mark and his family have chosen to focus on gratitude—for the years they had with Corinne, for the person she was, and for the impact she continues to have on their lives. Mark describes their lives as transformed by grief but not defined by it. In this conversation, we talk honestly about losing a child, finding gratitude in the middle of heartbreak, protecting family relationships through grief, remembering someone for how they lived rather than how they died, and discovering ways to continue living with joy while carrying loss. We also discuss Corinne's legacy and how others can support people living with blood cancer—including the life-saving potential of stem cell and bone marrow donation. This is a conversation about grief, but it is also a conversation about love, gratitude, resilience, family, and what it means to keep living after life changes forever. Call to Action If you are between the ages of 18 and 35, consider learning more about joining the stem cell and blood donation registry. For many people living with leukemia and other blood cancers, a stem cell or bone marrow transplant can be a critical treatment option. By joining the registry, you may one day have the opportunity to help someone who desperately needs a compatible donor. Learn more and find out how to join: NMDP — Stem Cell Donation Registry It only takes a few moments to learn more, and becoming a donor could ultimately give another person a chance at life.
