Purposeful Living

Cynthia VanWormer

Welcome to Purposeful Living Where we stop letting circumstances decide who we become. If you’re the strong one… The capable one… The one everyone relies on… But you’re starting to feel exhausted from carrying it all… You’re not alone. And you’re not stuck. Here, we slow things down long enough to see what’s really happening — and to recognize that you have more choices than you think. We talk about self-leadership. Managing your mind. Choosing how you show up. Taking your power back — without losing your grace. All roads may lead to Rome… but Rome wasn’t built in a day. And neither is the woman you are becoming — on purpose. If something in you knows it’s time… Stay.

Staying Connected To Your Why When Life Gets Loud

The fastest way to feel scattered is to forget what you’re doing all of this for. We dig into the “why” behind your choices and why staying connected to it can change everything from your stress level to your relationships to the way you lead and parent. When our why is clear, we stop living on autopilot and start making decisions on purpose, even in the middle of a packed day. We talk through what it looks like when your why gets buried under the whirlwind: exhaustion, overthinking, confusion, brain fog, and slow decision-making. We also explore a practical mindset shift that instantly changes your emotional life, moving from “Why did this happen to me?” to “Why did this happen, and what opportunity is here?” That one question turns challenges into direction and helps you take your power back without losing your grace. Then we get real about reactive moments and how to respond instead of snap. We break down how reconnecting to your why can change your tone, your words, and the example you set for the people who matter most. Finally, we share simple, doable tools you can use in two minutes: reflection questions, tiny pauses, writing your why down, and affirmations that build confidence, self-confidence, and self-trust through repetition. If you want more clarity, calmer communication, and a stronger sense of purpose, listen now, then share this with a friend who’s been in the whirlwind. After you listen, will you subscribe, leave a review, and tell us what your why is in this season? Interested in working with Cynthia?  Please visit purposefullivingcoaching.us

You - Let the Transformation Begin

Your calendar is full, your brain is loud, and somehow your motivation still feels missing. We get into why that happens and what it really means when you “forget your why.” I’m joined by my friend Marc Hildebrand, and we talk candidly about the whirlwind of life that pulls us into constant doing and how quickly purpose can fade into the background when we don’t slow down long enough to notice it.  We unpack the real cost of living disconnected from your why: drained energy, less joy, weaker presence, and relationships that start to feel like logistics. We also name the scarier part, emotional numbness, when you’ve been pushing so long that “nothing matters” becomes your default setting. If you’ve been looking for motivation, meaning, or a way out of burnout, this conversation offers a grounded path back to alignment without beating yourself up.  Then we shift to the how. We share a simple, repeatable practice you can use today: pause, breathe, notice, reflect, and ask better questions. You’ll hear specific prompts like “What matters to me?” and “What have I been ignoring?” and why grace beats guilt if you want sustainable personal growth. When your why comes back online, the ripple effect touches everything: your leadership, your boundaries, your work, and the way your family experiences you. If this resonates, subscribe, share this with a friend who feels stretched thin, and leave a quick review so more people can find Purposeful Living. From Rock Bottom To Self-Leadership: Closing The Gap | Bonus Episode

The part nobody posts online is the middle: that long stretch between “I can’t live like this anymore” and “I finally feel like myself.” Marc Hildebrand joins me to ask the questions people keep sending us, the ones about how the change actually happens when you’re depressed, angry, overwhelmed, and stuck in a negative loop that feels impossible to stop. We walk back to what my “before” looked like, then zoom in on the moment I decided I was done. But we don’t stop at the decision, because a decision without development doesn’t create a new life. We talk about what I invested in, what I learned, and why the biggest payoff wasn’t a quick money fix, it was personal growth, stronger leadership, and a new way of thinking under pressure. You’ll hear the three core skills that helped close the gap: understanding how the conscious and unconscious mind works, practicing self-leadership through mind management, and learning how to process pain so everyday obstacles stop turning into spirals. I also share a real-life test, my daughter’s serious car accident, and how the way I ask “why” changes everything about what I do next. We end with the ripple effect, how one person shifting their mindset can quietly change a workplace, a family, and the people they coach. If you’re in the “before” right now, take the first baby step and find support that can hold you accountable. Subscribe, share this with someone who needs hope, and leave a review so more people can find Purposeful Living. Interested in working with Cynthia?  Please visit purposefullivingcoaching.us

What Changes When You Stop Living Small | Bonus Episode

Your brain can turn one quiet post, one offhand comment, or one messy day into a full story about who you are and what you’re capable of. We slow things down and challenge that reflex, because leadership and purposeful living do not fall apart when the numbers do. They fall apart when we let adaptive stories like fear, doubt, and “I’m not enough” run the show. We dig into a practical framework that separates technical challenges from adaptive challenges. Technical problems are the how-to issues you can fix with a template, a quick search, or support from a leader. Adaptive challenges are the meaning you assign to the moment, the labels you repeat, and the identity you build from them. That’s where overwhelm, inconsistency, and perfectionism can quietly keep you stuck. We also talk about the “whirlwinds” of everyday life and why focusing on what you can control (your thoughts, actions, and words) changes everything. You’ll hear concrete mindset coaching tools: how to “manage your mind,” how to reframe negative self talk, and how to replace limiting labels with grounded “I am” statements. We close with a simple three-part process for real transformation: awareness, intentional thinking, and support that helps you stay aligned, especially when life gets loud. If this helped you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a mindset reset, and leave a review so more people can find the show. What “I am” statement are you choosing today? This Is What Reclaiming Your Life Actually Looks Like

Exhaustion gets labeled as laziness all the time, but we see it differently: exhaustion is a signal. When we slow down long enough to listen, we can finally tell whether we are dealing with real physical fatigue that needs rest, or mental exhaustion that shows up when our brain is trying to keep us “safe” from change, growth, and hard conversations. Marc Hillebrand joins me as we unpack how overfunctioning, people pleasing, and carrying too much can quietly drain your life. We talk about the cost of staying stuck, and why stuck does not mean broken. It often means you need awareness, support, and a process that helps you identify what is actually happening under the surface. We also get honest about how your brain can talk you out of the next right step by calling it “too much,” even when it is exactly what you want. Then we get practical. I share what helped me shift from being a constant yes to setting clear boundaries, and why learning to say no can create confidence, empowerment, satisfaction, peace, and hope. We close with a simple exercise you can do today: write down what you want in life, and then write why it matters. That “why” unlocks purpose and momentum, and it can reveal what your exhaustion has been trying to tell you all along. If you are navigating burnout, stress, mental fatigue, or work-life balance, this conversation will help you get clarity and move again. Subscribe for more, share this with a friend who is running on empty, and leave a review with the biggest signal your exhaustion has been sending you. Meet People Where They Are

The fastest way to ruin a hard conversation is to show up with assumptions and a plan to “fix” someone. Cynthia VanWormer and Marc Hildebrand dig into a simple but life-changing communication skill: meeting people where they’re at, especially when emotions are high and your brain wants to jump straight to advice. We start with a real, relatable example from Cynthia’s relationship with her daughter, Courtney. When Courtney calls after work, Cynthia chooses presence over problem-solving. She listens, lets her vent, and resists the urge to coach. That’s not passive and it’s not permissive. It’s active listening that creates emotional safety, strengthens connection, and reminds the other person they aren’t alone. If you’re navigating parenting stress, relationship conflict, or the pressure to always have the right answer, this mindset shift matters. Then we unpack the cost of expectations. Whether you’re leading a team, supporting a partner, or coaching a client, “you should” language can quietly break trust and trigger shame. We talk about replacing judgment with curiosity, asking better questions, and noticing how the energy in the room changes when someone feels understood. The ripple effect is real: they feel more confident and you become a steadier, more effective communicator. You’ll leave with one clear takeaway you can use today: stop trying to change people and start taking the time to understand them. If this helped you, subscribe for more conversations on purposeful living, share it with a friend who needs support, and leave a review.
