This week: OpenAI's footprint spreads across India and Australia, Korea goes big on gigawatts, and New Zealand's Green Party wants everyone to stop. - Tata acquires land in Vizag — next door to Google and Adani, and likely the first customer for its new HyperVault gigawatt campus. Nobody's confirmed OpenAI yet. - NEXTDC's S7 (Stargate Australia) drops its recycled water cooling plan after failing to get planning permission for the pipeline. Closed loop instead — better for water, worse for PUE. - Fujitsu offloads its Australian data centres to Next Capital. ~25MW capacity, only 7MW leased, 130 clients, reportedly just under the portfolio's $40M USD replacement value. Up to 100MW of development potential in those sites. - A $1.1B AUD ($770M USD) campus proposed in the City of Casey, Melbourne. Councillors haven't been asked to decide anything yet. We know who the developer is. We're not telling you for free. - Beetaloo Digital Hub — a gigawatt gas-powered campus outside Darwin, from Beetaloo Energy's new digital arm. Another power owner bringing a site to market. - Mercury takes a 12.7% stake in Datagrid NZ for $30M USD, months after signing the PPA. The 280MW site is still monstrous by New Zealand standards. - New Zealand's Green Party responds by calling for a one-year moratorium on AI data centres. - Nvidia and SK Group announce a $500B AI agreement for 2GW of capacity in Korea. - LS Electric and LG Uplus partner on DC-based power infrastructure, plus a groundbreaking for NeoAI Cloud's 300MW Hyundai Electric-built facility in Pohang. - SK Telecom spins up a wholly owned data centre subsidiary with 750B KRW ($500M USD) seed investment — targeting 15GW by 2035. Roughly 20x Korea's current capacity. Also in the newsletter this week: Chinese chip supply, a Hong Kong property firm building in Shanghai, and IFC's $175M into AirTrunk. Coming up on In Conversation: Simone Grasso, Head of Vena Energy's new data centre business. #DataCentres #APAC #AI #OpenAI #Nvidia #Korea #Australia
