Episode 6 - The Comparison Trap

Have you ever felt like "too much," or like you'll never measure up? In this episode, we sit down with our friend Andy, a minister at one of our CFC locations, to talk about the comparison trap and how to break free from it. Andy is a proud Southern girl with almost 30 years in advertising and media, the world that trains people to compare themselves to others. She shares candidly about being the youngest person in the room, the single woman with no kids at church, and someone who's often been told she's "too much." Together we talk about: Growing vs. comparing: why wanting to become the best version of yourself is different from trying to be someone else The social media 80/20: we compare the everyday 80% of our lives to the best 20% that other people post The root of comparison: the uncomfortable truth that it comes from focusing too much on ourselves A costly season: how comparison led Andy to resign from every role at her church, and what she learned from it Loved uniquely, "without rival": why God's love means we never have to compete with anyone, drawing on 1 Corinthians 12, 2 Corinthians 10 and Psalm 139:14 Practical steps to break free: asking the Holy Spirit for self-awareness, knowing your triggers, remembering "it ain't about you," and checking in with Him first No one can do what God has called you to do the way you can. If you've been measuring yourself against someone else's highlight reel, this episode is for you. Subscribe so you don't miss an episode, and share this with a friend who needs the reminder that she was fearfully and wonderfully made.
