Episode 14: The Grasshopper Complex: Why Self-Doubt is Your Greatest Spiritual Enemy With Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto Shlita

"We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and so we were in theirs." These fateful words spoken by the Spies changed the course of Jewish history forever. In this deeply moving episode, delivered immediately after returning from Morocco and despite physical weakness, Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, Shlita, illuminates the study hall in Ashdod with a masterclass on the psychology of faith. The Rabbi explores the devastating impact of Lashon Hara (evil speech), explaining that it is more than just talking; it is a refusal to see the "good" that G-d created in the world. From the secret motivation of the Spies—who used the "Torah" as a cover for their own political interests—to the antidote found in the blue thread of the Tzitzit, this episode provides the spiritual weaponry needed to conquer small-mindedness and self-doubt. Discover why the widow of Zarephath had to risk her life to receive a blessing and how the "Spice of Shabbat" holds the secret to communal unity. ✨ WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: [04:30] The Spice of Shabbat: A parable of the King and the Cholent. Why holiness cannot be manufactured; it must be experienced. [09:15] Speech as the Mediator: The mystical bridge between thought (soul) and action (body). Why you are where your words are. [14:40] The Severity of Gossip: Why Lashon Hara is considered worse than the three cardinal sins and how it "pollutes the air" of the world. [20:10] The "Pal Tomar" Law: The forbidden act of repeating even true and neutral information without permission. [25:50] Tricking Moshe: The Or HaChaim’s revelation that the Spies used the excuse of "digging for gold" to hide their true intentions. [32:15] The Grasshopper Complex: How seeing yourself as small forces the rest of the world to treat you as small. [44:30] Rationalizing Rebellion: Why the Spies claimed that G-d "hated" them—the danger of falling into a constricted state of mind. [52:00] The Antidote of Tzitzit: Using the Tekhelet (blue thread) to bypass the heart's schemes and focus on the Throne of Glory. [01:15:00] The Challah Principle: The story of Eliyahu HaNavi and the widow. Why you must give precisely when you feel you have nothing left. 💡 KEY QUOTABLE QUOTES: "Lashon Hara is when a person refuses to see the good that the L-rd created. It is the non-conventional bomb that pollutes the spiritual air of the individual and the home." "When a person sees himself as a messenger of G-d, he has the strength to achieve the impossible. But if you see yourself as a grasshopper, the giants will step on you." "The evil inclination is cunning; it often encourages people to commit the gravest sins in the name of 'Holiness' and the 'Torah.' This was the failure of the Spies." 🚀 THE SHELACH LECHA CHALLENGE: This week, look at the "half-empty glass" in your life. Rabbi Pinto challenges us to stop looking for the failures in our spouses, partners, and ourselves. Reclaim your confidence. If you are whole with G-d, the fortified cities and giants of your life will crumble before you. 🔗 CONNECT WITH SHUVA ISRAEL: Website: www.shouvaisrael.com Facebook: Shuva Israel & Rabbi Pinto YouTube: Subscribe for Daily Torah Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE and leave a 5-star review! Ep 13: The Easiest Deception: Mastering Your Soul and Reclaiming Your Lost Days With Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto

"What is the easiest thing in the world to do?" our Sages ask. The answer is startling: To deceive yourself. In this powerful episode, Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita, explores the deep internal journey of the soul through the lens of the weekly Torah portions. We often view the stories of the Torah as historical records, but Rabbi Moshe Yoel reveals they are actually "operating instructions" for the human subconscious. From the heart-wrenching story of the founder of Daf Yomi to the mystical connection between the Baal Shem Tov and the Or HaChaim, this episode challenges you to stop "measuring" your spiritual potential and start taking radical responsibility for your life. Discover why G-d cares more about how you treat your fellow man than your rituals, and why the Scroll of Ruth holds the key to understanding why we pray. ✨ WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: [03:45] The Weight of a Day: Why the word "Ben" (son) refers to age—and why a single lost day can diminish the quality of your entire future.[08:12] Daf Yomi’s Origin: The emotional story of Rabbi Meir Shapiro at the train station and the tears shed for a lost hour of study.[12:30] The Hardest Deception: Why it’s easy to fool yourself but nearly impossible to change someone else’s mind.[18:50] The Joseph Principle: Why standing firm in a community is harder than standing alone in the world—and why Joseph is the ultimate "Tzaddik."[24:10] Knowledge vs. Free Will: The Rambam’s resolution to the ultimate contradiction regarding the Egyptian enslavement.[29:20] True Peace vs. False Peace: Why Aaron the Priest was a "pursuer" of peace and why Hashem stands with the one who is pursued.[36:15] The Baal Shem Tov’s Detour: The unknown story of his journey to Turkey to find King David’s handwritten Psalms to bring the Mashiach.[45:30] Why Ruth on Shavuot? The legal mystery of why we read Ruth instead of Psalms to connect with King David.[55:10] The Sin of Miriam: Why "measuring" spiritual levels is a dangerous trap that leads to the failure of the Spies.💡 KEY QUOTABLE QUOTES: "The Torah doesn't live in the past. Every detail of your day is building your future. There is no such thing as a day that is canceled; every hour is an investment in your soul." "A person who only studies the laws of character but doesn't know their own soul is like a man who learns the laws of Tefillin but has never seen a pair." "The hardest thing is to change another's mind; the easiest thing is to deceive your own. We spend our lives rationalizing impulsive decisions made in a moment of desire." 🚀 THE SOUL CHALLENGE: This week, Rabbi Moshe Yoel challenges us to stop being "Ignoramuses of the Soul." Don't just learn the Halacha (law) of how to treat others—learn the structure of your own psyche. Stop blaming your circumstances and realize that, like Yosef HaTzaddik, you have the power to take 100% responsibility for your actions, even when you are surrounded by a society that disagrees. 🔗 CONNECT WITH SHUVA ISRAEL: Website: www.shouvaisrael.com Facebook: Shuva Israel & Rabbi Pinto YouTube: Subscribe for Daily Torah Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE and leave a 5-star review! Ep 12: The Architecture of Holiness: Reclaiming Your Self-Worth and Starting Over With Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita

"You shall be holy, for I, the L-rd your G-d, am holy." But how can a human being, made of flesh and blood, emulate the holiness of the Creator? In this expansive and deep episode, Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita, explores the "Architecture of Holiness"—the spiritual and psychological foundations that allow a Jew to rise above their past and their material impulses. Rabbi Moshe Yoel decodes the mystical difference between the "Silver" miracles of Egypt and the "Gold" partnership at the Red Sea. He addresses the internal crisis of Aaron the High Priest and explains why G-d comforted him with the Menorah. If you have ever felt that your past mistakes define your future, or that you aren't "worthy" of G-d’s blessings, this episode provides the spiritual tools to recognize your true value and start your journey anew at any moment. ✨ WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: [05:40] Silver vs. Gold: Why the spoils of Egypt were silver (Kindness) while the Red Sea provided gold (Justice and Partnership). [12:15] The Partnership Miracle: Why G-d wants you to "jump into the water" before He splits the sea. [19:30] Direct Providence: The staggering spiritual reality of living in the Land of Israel—where G-d’s eyes are upon you from the beginning of the year to the end. [28:45] The 3-Month Rule of Excitement: Why material joy always fades and how to find the "Eternal Light" through Torah. [36:20] The 70% Rule: Why most of our possessions are based on emotional impulses rather than rational needs. [44:10] Reclaiming Self-Worth: Why we often "don't see" the blessings G-d sends us because we don't believe we are worthy of them. [52:30] The Menorah’s Secret: Why the "Central Lamp" had no beginning and no end, and what it teaches us about starting our lives over. [01:05:00] Being Distinct: Why a Jew must be recognizable by their clothing, speech, and hair to maintain their spiritual frequency. 💡 KEY QUOTABLE QUOTES: "For a Jew, nothing is determined by how it begins. At any moment, you can decide that today is the first moment, the time when you start everything anew." "The reason we often feel a 'lack' in life is not because G-d isn't giving—it's because we don't value ourselves enough to receive it." "The soul is a 'part of G-d from above.' When a person corrupts their soul through sin, they become the 'living dead.' Purity is the only way to truly feel alive." 🚀 THE KEDOSHIM CHALLENGE: This week, Rabbi Moshe Yoel challenges us to evaluate our "70%." Look at your material world and your daily decisions. Are you acting out of impulse, or are you acting as a "Partner with the Creator"? Remember: The "Eternal Lamp" of the Menorah was never lit and never extinguished—it simply is. Your soul has that same eternal potential. 🔗 CONNECT WITH SHUVA ISRAEL: Website: www.shouvaisrael.com Facebook: Shuva Israel & Rabbi Pinto YouTube: Subscribe for Daily Torah Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE and leave a 5-star review! Ep:11 - The Mirror of the Soul: Why You Must Love Yourself to Find Peace With Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, Shlita

"You shall be holy, for I, the L-rd your G-d, am holy." This powerful commandment from Parashat Kedoshim is the foundation of the Jewish identity. But what does it mean for a human being to be "holy" like the Creator? In this deep and moving episode, Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, Shlita, explains that holiness isn't just about ritual—it’s about the very essence of how we view ourselves and our purpose. Discover the mystical difference between the "Silver" redemption of Egypt and the "Gold" miracle of the Red Sea. Rabbi Pinto explores why the Jewish soul is distinct from all other nations, why baseless hatred toward others is actually a symptom of a person harming their own soul, and why 70% of what we own is actually unnecessary. From the laws of the Land of Israel to the psychology of emotional decision-making, this episode provides a masterclass in spiritual refinement and inner peace. ✨ WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: [04:20] Silver vs. Gold Miracles: Why the spoils of Egypt were silver (Kindness) while the spoils of the Sea were gold (Judgment/Partnership).[08:50] The Partnership Principle: Why some miracles are free gifts from G-d, while others require us to "jump into the water" first.[14:15] The Root of Baseless Hatred: A powerful story of the Emperor of Vienna and why people struggle to make peace.[18:30] Self-Love and the Mirror: Why you can only love your neighbor once you stop harming your own soul through sin.[24:50] Direct vs. Indirect Providence: The staggering spiritual difference between living in the Land of Israel and living anywhere else in the world.[32:10] Emotional vs. Rational Decisions: Why most human choices are impulsive—and how the Torah helps us rationalize our higher purpose.[44:00] The 70% Rule: Why most of our material possessions are useless distractions from our spiritual mission.[48:30] Being Distinct: The Rambam’s teaching on why a Jew must be recognizable by their clothing, speech, and hair.[55:00] Ingathering of Outcasts: The difference between the gathering of exiles and the final, complete rectification of the soul.💡 KEY QUOTABLE QUOTES: "As water reflects a face to a face, so the heart of a person to another. If you do not love your own soul, you will never find peace with those around you." "The mode of 'Nature' and the mode of 'Miracles' are usually separate. But on the level of holiness, your routine becomes the miracle itself." "A person who lives outside the Land of Israel receives life through intermediaries. A person in Israel stands directly before the Eyes of the L-rd." 🚀 THE KEDOSHIM CHALLENGE: This week, Rabbi Pinto challenges us to "Sanctify yourself with what is permitted to you." True holiness isn't just avoiding the forbidden; it's about setting boundaries in your daily life so that your soul remains pure, your eyes remain holy, and your speech remains elevated. Ep. 10 - The Miracle of Routine: Shavuot, Baseless Hatred, and the Gift of the Torah With Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita

Why do we stay awake all night on Shavuot, and what can a dispute between an Emperor and a Rabbi teach us about the true root of human suffering? In this profound episode of the Shuva Israel Podcast, Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita, delves into the spiritual depths of the Jewish people's relationship with the Creator, the giving of the Torah, and the dual nature of Divine Providence. Rabbi Pinto explores the devastating concept of "baseless hatred" (Sinat Chinam) through a powerful historical story about Rabbi Shimshon Wertheimer and the Emperor of Vienna. He reveals a striking psychological and spiritual truth: our inability to make peace with others ultimately stems from a lack of true love for ourselves. Furthermore, this episode uncovers the profound symbolism behind our most cherished Shavuot traditions. From the spiritual reason we eat dairy to the secret behind staying awake all night, and why we read the Book of Ruth instead of King David's Psalms on the anniversary of his passing, this episode is a masterclass in uncovering the miraculous within the mundane. Key takeaways from this episode: The Root of Baseless Hatred: You cannot make peace with others if you do not truly love yourself. A person who harms their own soul through sin cannot project true love outward. The Miracle of Routine: There are two types of divine conduct: nature and miracles. Shavuot teaches us that God’s providence isn't just in parting the sea; it is so intertwined in our lives that our daily routine is the miracle. The Symbolism of Dairy: Unlike meat, which requires a rigorous koshering process to become pure, milk represents an instant elevation to purity—mirroring the immediate spiritual leap available to every Jew on Shavuot. The Power of the Night: By staying awake on Shavuot, we restore the spiritual balance of creation (the sun and the moon), remaining awake for that one specific moment in the night when God answers our deepest, unspoken desires. Why We Read Ruth: Both the Torah (God giving to us) and Prayer (us asking God) come from the Creator. The Book of Ruth teaches us that even our very desire to pray and seek God is a gift placed in our hearts by Him. Highlights: “A person does not really want what is good for himself and does not truly love himself, and therefore others do not love him either.” - Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita “On Shavuot, both forms of leadership do exist together. There is both the leadership of miracles and the leadership of nature intertwined with one another. Nature itself is a miracle.” - Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita “If not for this day of the giving of the Torah, what would set me apart and make me Rav Yosef? I would be just like the dozens and thousands of Yosefs in the marketplace.” - Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita “Shavuot, we eat dairy foods. Why? To teach a person that this process does not exist here. A person in a single moment can ascend to the highest level, to the most elevated and unique places.” - Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita

EP:9 - Released from the Heavens: How the Torah Breaks the Barriers Between Your Prayer and G-d’s Abundance With Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita

Why do the nations of the world harbor an unexplainable hatred toward the Jewish people? Our Sages teach that this enmity was born at Mount Sinai—the mountain of "Sinah" (hatred). But in this explosive episode, Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita, reveals that Sinai isn't just a historical moment from 3,300 years ago; it is a live event that repeats every single year. Discover the "Lineage Secret": the shocking reason why G-d passed over all other nations to give the Torah to a generation that had hit spiritual rock bottom in Egypt. Rabbi Pinto explores the deep psychology of the "Genealogical Tree," the legal mechanism that stops our prayers from reaching this world, and the incredible willpower of David ben Ruth. From the laws of the Ten Commandments to the mystical elevation of "Holy Sparks," this episode is a blueprint for anyone ready to stand at the foot of the mountain and receive their portion in the Torah anew. ✨ WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: [04:15] The Root of Antisemitism: Why Mount Sinai is the source of both our greatest glory and the world's greatest hatred.[07:50] The Prayer Barrier: Why some prayers are answered in Heaven but "stuck" before they reach you—and how to release the abundance.[12:30] The Symmetrical Tablets: The Mabit’s revelation on why the commandments between "Man and Man" were written in larger script than those between "Man and G-d."[18:45] The Lineage Secret: How the Israelites in Egypt used their "Book of Genealogy" to claim their inheritance despite being idol worshippers.[25:20] "On This Day": Why the Torah treats every day as the actual day we arrived at Sinai.[34:40] Nothing Stands in the Way of Will: The acronym of "David Ben Ruth" and the secret of how the "rejected" became the King of Israel.[39:15] The Shavuot Mikveh: Why we are permitted to cut hand and toenails on the same day only on the eve of Shavuot.[44:10] Beyond Prophecy: Why every Jew on Shavuot is elevated to a level higher than the greatest prophets.[47:50] Elevating Holy Sparks: Why the Torah was given in a desert and how one minute of study can fix your sparks in America, Europe, or across the globe.💡 KEY QUOTABLE QUOTES: "The Torah is the source of all powers in creation. When you make peace with the Torah, the entire world—nature, business, and health—makes peace with you.""A Jew is never ashamed to write their name next to the Patriarchs. Even in the depths of Egypt, we knew the holiness would eventually return to us.""On Shavuot, every Jew is purified from the scars of their soul. In a single moment, you can break free from your past and reach the highest level."🚀 THE SHAVUOT TRANSFORMATION: Rabbi Moshe Pinto challenges us to look at our "Genealogical Tree" not as a list of names, but as a commitment to success. Even if you feel like a "slave" to your habits or your past, the holiday of Shavuot is a G-d-given opportunity to start from zero and reach the throne of glory. 🔗 CONNECT WITH SHUVA ISRAEL: Website: www.shouvaisrael.com Facebook: Shuva Israel & Rabbi Pinto YouTube: Subscribe for Daily Torah Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE and leave a 5-star review! EP:8 - The Shavuot Secret: How to Rewrite Your Heart and Master Your Mind With Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita

As the Jewish people stand just days away from the holiday of Shavuot, this episode dives into the mechanics of the soul. Why is Shavuot only one day while other holidays last a week? Why do we study Torah specifically at night? And what is the "Antidote" that God created to stop the Evil Inclination from winning the daily battle? Drawing on the wisdom of the Mabit, the Piaseczno Rebbe, and the Maharal, this lesson uncovers why Moses "added a day" of his own accord to the giving of the Torah—shifting it from a day of perfection to a day for every single Jew. We explore the deep psychology of the "Lower Intellect" versus the "Higher Intellect" and how one hour of focused study can protect you for an entire year. This is the ultimate guide to receiving the Torah in 2026. ✨ WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: [03:15] The Mystery of Memory: Why 90% of what we learn is forgotten within a month—and the one trick to making your Torah stay in your soul.[08:40] Why Shavuot is Only 1 Day: The difference between "Historical Holidays" (Passover) and "Living Holidays" (Shavuot/Rosh Hashanah).[14:20] The Angel of Slaughter: The hidden danger of the eve of Shavuot and why we avoid certain medical procedures on this day.[20:50] Mount Sinai as a Tunnel: Why God held the mountain like a "barrel" and what it teaches us about cellular reception and spiritual focus.[28:15] Torah as a "Spice": A warning from the Sages—if the Torah is just an "add-on" to your life, it can actually serve the Evil Inclination.[36:40] The Extra Day of Moses: Why the Torah was moved from the Day of Joseph (perfection) to the Day of David (the common man).[48:10] The Heart of Stone: Understanding why the first tablets were engraved through-and-through, while the second were only written on.[01:05:00] The 3 Camps of Impurity: How your specific daily struggles (Death, Desires, or Gossip) pinpoint exactly where you stand in the eyes of God.💡 KEY QUOTES FROM THE LESSON: "Torah is not a history lesson; it is a live broadcast. Every hour you dedicate to study is the holiness of Shavuot itself happening right now." "The evil inclination fights the highest souls with a sense of 'emptiness.' If you feel empty, it is a sign you are standing in the Camp of the Divine Presence." "Moses shattered the tablets to prove that in Judaism, nothing is physical. The Torah depends solely on your attachment to the Creator, not a building or a stone." 🚀 THE SHAVUOT CHALLENGE: This year, don't just "stay up" on Shavuot night. Use the Higher Intellect to allow the Torah to bypass your logical doubts and penetrate your subconscious. As Rabbi Pinto often teaches: "Make your Torah a fixed practice, and your world will become fixed." EP:7 - The Mastery Trap: Why Feeling in Control is Your Greatest Risk With Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita

In this powerful conclusion to the Book of Vayikra (Leviticus), Rabbi Moshe Yoel Pinto, Shlita, explores the profound demands the Torah places on the Jewish soul. This Shabbat, we read the double portion of Behar and Bechukotai, which calls every Jew to ascend beyond their "comfort zone" and live a life of radical faith (Emunah). The Rabbi delves into why the commandment of faith is the only one rewarded in this world without diminishing the next, the psychological secret of the 50th year (Jubilee), and the paradox between Shabbat and the Sabbatical year. Key Spiritual Insights 1. Why Faith is Rewarded in This World Drawing from the famous story of Rabbi Chanina ben Dosa and the "Golden Leg," the Rabbi explains a deep principle from the Ashmakh Moshe: Direct vs. Indirect: Most commandments were given through Moses (a messenger). Therefore, their reward is reserved for the World to Come. The Direct Link: The commandment of faith—"I am the Lord your God"—was spoken by Hashem directly to every Jew at Sinai. Because it came directly from the King, the reward is paid in this world, allowing a person to live a life of wealth and honor without losing their eternal portion. 2. The Danger of "100% Mastery" The Rabbi examines the 50th year (Yovel/Jubilee), where land returns to its owners and slaves go free. The Number 50: In Pirkei Avot, 50 is the age of "Advice." It represents total familiarity and mastery over a subject. The Spiritual Trap: The moment a person feels they have 100% control or mastery over their business, their land, or their life, Hashem takes it away. The Solution: True ownership only exists when we realize we are totally dependent on Hashem. "As long as a person knows they depend on the Holy One... Hashem leaves that thing with them." 3. Why Shemitah is Learned from Sinai The Torah specifically links the Sabbatical year to Mount Sinai. Why? The Foundation of Kindness: The Ten Commandments don't explicitly mention "Kindness." The Rabbi explains that Shemitah is the ultimate act of kindness—giving everything you own to the poor. By linking it to Sinai, the Torah teaches that kindness is the root of everything. Spiritual Laziness: We "run" for material work but "hesitate" for spiritual study. The connection to Sinai reminds us to apply the same urgency to our souls that we do to our livelihoods. 4. The Paradox: Shabbat vs. Shemitah At first glance, these two "Sabbaths" seem opposite: Weekly Shabbat: Tells us the physical world is mundane and we must retreat into the synagogue/holiness. The Balance: Together, they teach us that holiness is not in objects or places, but in the person. You can sanctify your work and your material life through holy intention. Key Moments & Timestamps 02:30 – The uniqueness of the Book of Vayikra: Moving beyond the "average." 04:15 – The Golden Leg of Rabbi Chanina ben Dosa: Why we shouldn't ask for "rewards" now. 08:20 – Why Emunah (Faith) is the key to a good life in this world. 13:10 – The Jubilee Year and the meaning of the number 50 (Advice). Quotes from the Rabbi "Holiness is not in any object... Holiness comes from the person. A person in his work can discover tremendous holiness." "Everything in the world depends on thought. A person chooses where to place the Holy One, blessed be He." Take Action: The Friday Fast The Rabbi mentions a powerful tradition from Rabbi Yitzchak of Volozhin: One who fasts on the Friday of Behar-Bechukotai and reads the portion "Twice Torah, Once Translation" (Shnayim Mikra) in holiness will have all their prayers accepted and harsh judgments removed.
