Can I Really Leave My Kids?

What happens when saying yes to God means stepping away from the people you love most? In this episode, Ashley Rice shares her honest story of learning to trust God with her children as she and her husband gave God their 'yes' to head out on mission trips. As a mom of three, leaving her kids behind was anything but easy. There were fears, what-ifs, tears, and plenty of reasons to stay home. But through those experiences, Ashley discovered that trusting God doesn't mean we stop feeling afraid—it means surrendering those fears and choosing to believe that God is who He says He is. If you've ever felt God nudging you beyond your comfort zone, or to leave those you love to follow after Him, this conversation will encourage you to surrender the fear, rather than surrender to the fear, and see what God will do for you and those you leave behind. The Story I Never Thought I'd Tell - Part 2

What happens when you say yes to God—and He takes your life somewhere you never expected? In Part Two of Lyndsay Ploehn’s story, she returns to Costa Rica to lead a mission team, expecting to serve, reconnect with people she met the year before, and perhaps find some closure. Instead, God begins writing a story she could never have planned for herself. From an unexpected encounter in a park to deeper conversations, prayer, wise counsel, and an extraordinary cross-cultural relationship, Lindsay discovers that sometimes God’s plans don’t fit our usual “textbook.” Yet through it all, she experiences an unmistakable sense of peace and learns what it means to faithfully step into a “yes,” trusting God with everything that comes next. This is a story of faith, healing, surrender, unexpected love, and the goodness of a God who can do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine. The Story I Never Thought I'd Tell - Part 1

Who can tell what God will do with our obedience? Sometimes the thing that makes us uncomfortable is exactly where He's asking us to step out—and sometimes our willingness to share our story becomes part of someone else's healing. In this episode, Lindsay Ploehn shares the unexpected story of a family mission trip to Costa Rica with her son. She went hoping to share a heart for missions and to serve alongside him—but God had something much deeper in mind. What began with a burrito ministry on the streets of Jaco and a desire to serve quickly brought Lindsay face-to-face with parts of her own story she hadn't expected to confront. When she felt God prompting her to share her testimony with men recovering from addiction, she had to step into a deeply vulnerable place. What followed was an incredibly powerful moment of healing, connection, and redemption—for Lyndsay, for her son, and for the men who heard her story. Our God wastes nothing and turns our ashes into His beauty in our lives for our good and for His glory. What's Your Next Step?

Summer Series Joel Reasoner is back—a returning guest on the podcast, and he has quite an update to share! When Joel joined us after his first trip to Peru, he talked about sensing a growing “tug” toward missions and ministry. Just a short time later, he said yes to that tug and returned to Peru for a four-week internship with South America Mission. In this episode, Joel shares what happened when he stepped beyond his comfort zone—from teaching English and living with a Peruvian family to traveling by boat deep into the jungle, serving in a remote village, and sharing his testimony through three different languages. But the biggest story isn't the adventure. It's what God was doing in Joel's heart. His challenge to all of us is simple but powerful: What does daily dependence on God look like wherever you are in the world? Take that next step of faith!
