Ep. 20 - THE RECAP EPISODE

We've made it to Episode 20 of Ordinary Faith! This week, we're looking back at some of the biggest lessons we've learned through our journey in the Gospel of Mark. From the authority and miracles of Jesus to His compassion for ordinary people, one truth continues to stand out: Jesus doesn't just want to change our circumstances—He wants to change our hearts. As we revisit Mark 7, we talk about the desperation of those who came to Jesus for healing and ask an important question: Have we become too comfortable to recognize how desperately we need Him? In a world full of distractions, busy schedules, and competing priorities, it's easy to put our spiritual lives on the back burner. But following Jesus isn't about checking religious boxes or waiting for a life-changing moment. It's about recognizing our need for Him and walking in faithful obedience every day. Plus, we hear highlights from our student fall retreat, talk about the challenges of technology and distractions, and celebrate 20 episodes of conversations about living out our faith. Scripture Focus: Mark 7:24–37 Thanks for joining us for another episode of Ordinary Faith, a podcast from Trinity Baptist Church in Trinity, Alabama. Learn more at tbctrinity.org.

Ep. 19 - Busy for God, Distant from God? | Mark 7:1-13 (Week of October 4, 2026)

Are we growing closer to Jesus—or just checking religious boxes? This week on Ordinary Faith, we dive into Mark 7:1–13 and Jesus’ challenge to traditions that take priority over God’s Word. Through honest conversation and personal stories, we explore how church attendance, ministry responsibilities, and even good habits can become substitutes for a heart that’s close to God. We also talk about putting prayer first, examining our motives, and the freedom of approaching God as His children instead of trying to prove our spirituality. If you’ve ever felt busy doing things for God but distant from Him, this conversation is an invitation to come honestly to the Father and ask Him to renew your heart. Ep. 18 - Rest With Jesus, See People, Use What You Have | Mark 6:30-44 (Week of September 13, 2026)

In Mark 6, the feeding of the 5,000 teaches us a natural rhythm for the Christian life: rest with Jesus, see people with compassion, and serve with what we already have. In this episode, we discuss intentional solitude, the compassion of Christ, and how God multiplies our availability for purposes far beyond our own ability.

    Ep. 17 - Is Jesus Impressive—or Is He Lord? | Mark 6:1-6 (Week of August 30, 2026)

It’s possible to admire Jesus, know church culture, and even be astonished by what He does—without actually surrendering to Him as Lord. In this episode of Ordinary Faith, Nathan and Pastor John Michael revisit Mark 6:1–6, where Nazareth’s familiarity with Jesus turns into offense and unbelief. They talk honestly about consumer Christianity, the discomfort of God’s Word, the excuses that keep us from obedience, and how self-sufficiency can shrink our expectations of what God might do. From family pressures and ministry fatigue to prayer, personal evangelism, and needing more than a verse of the day, this conversation asks: Where is the Holy Spirit creating friction in your life—and what would it look like to trust and obey? Take your next step with Jesus, allow His Word to grow your faith, and don’t let unbelief keep you from experiencing His work.

Ep, 16 - When Jesus Seems Late: Stop Fearing, Keep Believing | Mark 5:21-43 (Week of August 23, 2026)

What do you do when Jesus seems delayed and the bad news keeps coming? In this episode of Ordinary Faith, we revisit Mark 5:21-43 and the intertwined stories of Jairus and the woman who had suffered for twelve years. Together, we explore how desperation can drive us toward Jesus, the bold faith it took for the woman to reach through the crowd, and the kindness of Christ toward people who are hurting, ashamed, or convinced they are too far gone. We also discuss trusting Jesus before the outcome changes, listening to His voice over the crowd, and seeking God Himself—not only the benefits He can provide. If you are waiting, hurting, or facing something you cannot fix, remember: Jesus is accessible, He is never frantic, and He has the final say. Stop fearing. Keep believing. Ep. 15 - When Jesus Steps Into Hopeless Places | Mark 5:1-20 (Week of August 16, 2026)

Jesus crossed the sea and entered a place everyone else avoided—all to reach one isolated, tormented man. In this episode of Ordinary Faith, we explore Mark 5:1–20 and the powerful truth that every single person matters to Jesus. We talk about the chains that keep us trapped, why familiar bondage can sometimes feel more comfortable than freedom, and how an encounter with Jesus changes everything. Then we consider the man’s new mission: return home and tell others what the Lord has done. Your testimony doesn’t have to be dramatic to be powerful—because changed lives change lives. Where might Jesus be calling you to walk in freedom and share your story? Learn more at https://tbctrinity.org

Ep. 14 - Jesus is in the Boat | Mark 4:35-5:1 (Week of August 9, 2026

What do we do when life feels out of control? This week on Ordinary Faith, Pastors John Michael, Nathan and Jamin reflect on Mark 4:35-41, where Jesus calms the storm—and reveals Himself as far more than a good teacher or prophet. He is the One with authority over creation itself. Together, they talk honestly about anxiety, hardship, spiritual growth, and the reminder we all need: following Jesus does not mean we will avoid storms, but it does mean we never face them alone. Whether you’re in a season of calm or feeling overwhelmed by the waves, this conversation will encourage you to shift your focus from the outcome you fear to the Savior who is with you in the boat. Ep. 13 - When You Don't See Results (Week of August 2, 2026)

This week, we unpack Mark 4:21-34 and Jesus’ parables of the lamp, the growing seed, and the mustard seed. Together, they remind us that Jesus is the true Light, God’s Word has power to produce fruit, and His kingdom will prevail. If you feel discouraged because you are not seeing immediate results, this conversation is for you. Faithfulness is not about controlling outcomes or chasing numbers—it is about shining Christ, sowing His Word, and trusting God to bring the growth in His time. Join us as we reflect on how to live with steady faith, ordinary obedience, and real hope in Jesus.
