The honest convo men & women aren’t having

What happens when we stop protecting men’s comfort and start having honest conversations about women’s safety? In this powerful, unfiltered episode, I’m joined once again by my friend Ryan for a conversation that challenges everything we’ve been taught about masculinity, male privilege, rape culture, and the expectations society places on men and women. We dive into the uncomfortable reality that many men remain completely unaware of the dangers, discrimination, and everyday experiences women navigate simply because they’re women. We explore what it actually means to be a male ally—and why genuine allyship sometimes requires men to surrender their comfort, challenge other men, and even risk their own safety to protect women. But this conversation isn’t just about what men need to do differently. It’s also about the enormous pressure men face to achieve financial success, status, and stability by a certain age. We discuss how these expectations shape men’s identities, relationships, and self-worth, and offer advice to younger men struggling with the feeling that they’re falling behind. We also tackle the difficult question of how women can identify red flags in men, particularly when harmful attitudes and behaviours aren’t immediately obvious. And perhaps one of the most disturbing parts of our conversation: Where are women actually supposed to feel safe? After sharing my own positive and healing experience with a male therapist on social media, I was confronted with an unsettling reality. Approximately 30% of the women who commented on my post shared experiences of male therapists saying or doing inappropriate things that left them feeling violated, unsafe, or re-traumatized. Because being a good man isn’t just about what you personally refuse to do. It’s also about what you’re willing to stand up against. Content warning: Discussions of sexual violence, rape culture, abuse, and inappropriate conduct in therapeutic relationships. #MalePrivilege #RapeCulture #ToxicMasculinity #WomensSafety #AgainstMyBetterJudgment
