Finding Solid Ground When Life Changes

Change is one of the few constants in life. We grow older. We lose people we love. Our plans shift. The question isn't whether change will come—it's how we meet it. In this episode of Wise, Sharon begins by responding to two listener questions: one about aging and the other about navigating the anticipated loss of a beloved mother.  In the first conversation, a highly sensitive and intuitive man from North Carolina shares his desire to feel more grounded in everyday life. Sharon guides him through a simple grounding practice she learned in the martial art of Aikido that helps him reconnect with himself by rooting his energy deeply into the earth. In her reflections, Sharon considers grounding to be a daily practice that can support all of us as we navigate life's inevitable changes. In the second conversation, a scholar from China reflects on the disappointment of not achieving the academic career he once envisioned. As they talk, he realizes that what truly fulfills him has been available all along. Rather than measuring his life against the path he imagined or the expectations of prestigious institutions, he reconnects with the deeper purpose that first inspired his work and leaves the conversation energized by what is possible from exactly where he is. These conversations explore aging, grief, grounding, sensitivity, purpose, disappointment, resilience, and the quiet strength that emerges when we stop resisting change and meet life from a grounded place within ourselves.
