I Thought I Was Better: Weaning, Depression & Finding Myself Again

In this episode of Finding Her After Baby, I’m talking about something I almost didn’t record. I thought I was getting better. My postpartum depression felt more manageable, I was starting to feel like myself again, and then somewhere along the way, things shifted. As I started weaning from breastfeeding, I noticed the crying coming back. The anger. The exhaustion. The lack of motivation. The feeling that everything was suddenly too much again. So in this episode, I’m talking openly about what that has looked like for me, what I’ve learned about the emotional side of weaning, and why I think we need to have more honest conversations about postpartum mental health long after the newborn stage ends. I also share why watching the Lindsay Clancy trial unfold has been emotionally difficult for me as a woman navigating postpartum mental health myself, and how it has reinforced just how important it is for women to feel safe speaking up before they ever reach a crisis point. This episode is not about having all the answers. It’s about being honest while I’m still in the middle of it. Because sometimes healing doesn’t look like finally “getting better.” Sometimes it looks like recognizing that something has changed and asking for help again. In this episode, we talk about: Postpartum depression beyond the newborn stageMood changes during weaningAnger, exhaustion, crying, and feeling disconnected from yourselfThe guilt that comes with struggling when life “looks good”Why maternal mental health deserves to be taken seriouslyThe importance of asking for help before reaching a breaking pointWhat I’m doing differently this timeFinding yourself again after motherhoodContent note: This episode includes discussion of postpartum depression, maternal mental health, and a criminal case involving the deaths of children. Please listen with care. If you’re struggling with your mental health, please reach out to a healthcare provider, therapist, or someone you trust. You deserve support before things become a crisis. And if this episode makes you think of another mom who might need to hear it, please send it to her. You don’t have to wait until you’re drowning to deserve a life raft.

The Summer Glow-Up Guide for the Busy Working Mom (No 4 A.M. Routine Required)

Let's be honest... most of the "summer glow-up" advice on the internet is not made for moms who are juggling work, kids, laundry, meal planning, and trying to remember where they left their coffee. In this episode, we're throwing out all of the unrealistic checklists and talking about what a glow-up actually looks like in real life. We're covering simple, sustainable ways to take care of yourself this summer - not just on the outside, but mentally, emotionally, and physically too. Because feeling good isn't about perfection, it's about finally giving yourself the same care you give everyone else. In this episode, we talk about: Why a real glow-up has so much more to do with how you feel than how you look. Taking care of your body without obsessing over the scale. Protecting your peace and letting go of the pressure to make everyone else happyFinding yourself again outside of motherhood and workSimple habits that actually fit into a busy mom's lifeWhy your kids don't need a perfect mom - they need a healthy, joyful, present one. If you've been feeling like you've lost yourself somewhere between the meetings, the school drop-offs, the dishes, and the endless to-do lists, this episode is your remionder that you still matter. You don't need to become someone new this summer. You just need to start taking care of the woman that you have always been. She's Watching: What our daughters learn from how we see ourselves

This week, I'm sharing one of the most eye-opening parenting moments I've had in a long time. After seeing a post from my daughter about feeling insecure in her own body, I was forced to ask myself a difficult question: What has she learned from watching me? As moms - especially girl moms -we spend so much time telling our daughters they are beautiful, strong, and worthy. But what happens when the way that we speak about ourselves is telling an entirely different story? In this episode, we are talking about the quiet ways we are modeling self-worth, body image, confidence, and self-talk for our daughters every single day. I'm choosing to share my own struggles with insecurity, postpartum body changes, and the ongoing journey of learning to treat myself with the same kindness that I want my daughters to show themselves. We'll also dive into practical ways to help build confident girls in a world that will constantly try to make them question their worth, and why the goal is never to become a perfectly confident mom, but rather a mom who is willing to heal out loud and do things a little differently. Because babe, our girls are literally always watching. And maybe the greatest gift we can give them as mothers is not a perfect example, but an example of growth and change. If this episode resonates with you, I'd love for you to share it with another mom who needs the reminder that the way we love ourselves today helps shape the way our daughters love themselves tomorrow. Make sure you like, rate, and follow the podcast, and go on over to my TikTok @ourbluebirdnation to keep up on our day-to-day life! Keep Finding Her.

The Version of Me That Survived Isn’t the Version I Want to Stay

For a long time, I thought surviving was enough. I was still showing up for work, taking care of my children, managing responsibilities, and doing everything that needed to be done. From the outside, I looked functional. But internally, I was exhausted, disconnected from myself, and living in a constant state of survival mode. In today’s episode, I’m sharing my journey of rebuilding myself after emotional abuse, toxic dynamics, and the painful realization that some of the things I experienced were not okay. We’re talking about: • What emotional abuse and survival mode can actually look like • How motherhood complicates the healing process • Hypervigilance, people-pleasing, overexplaining, and other survival responses • The grief that comes with realizing you’ve lost parts of yourself • Learning to stop making excuses for the people who hurt you • The heartbreak of discovering who was truly in your corner and who wasn’t • Therapy, journaling, and the tools helping me heal • Writing my book and using storytelling as a form of healing • Unlearning survival tactics that no longer serve me • Building boundaries, self-trust, and emotional safety • Becoming a healthier, stronger, and more independent version of myself This episode isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about being honest about the work it takes to heal and reminding you that even after years of surviving, it is possible to find yourself again. If you’ve ever questioned your own reality, felt like you’ve lost yourself in survival mode, or struggled to heal while still carrying the weight of motherhood, this conversation is for you. You are allowed to tell the truth about what hurt you. You are allowed to stop minimizing your pain. And you are allowed to become someone entirely new after surviving it. Healing isn’t linear: A very honest life update

This week, we’re getting real. No polished ending. No perfectly packaged life lesson. Just an honest conversation about what it looks like to keep choosing yourself when life feels heavy. In this episode, I’m sharing the realities of a difficult season-from the emotional weight of being a stepmom, to sleep deprivation and motherhood, communication struggles in marriage, and the challenges of stepping into a new role at work while feeling completely out of your comfort zone. We’re talking about the parts of healing that don’t make it onto social media. The moments where you’re showing up for therapy, taking your medication, moving your body, and doing the work… while simultaneously feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, uncertain, and stretched thin. Because healing isn’t linear. You can be growing and grieving. You can be healing and hurting. You can be becoming her while still having really hard days. If you’ve been feeling like you’re failing because your journey doesn’t look perfect right now, this episode is for you. Grab your emotional support caffeine, settle in, and let’s talk about the messy middle of becoming. In this episode: • The emotional complexity of being a stepmom • Why sleep deprivation impacts more than just your energy • Navigating communication gaps in marriage • The discomfort of being new and not having your footing at work • Why high achievers often tie their worth to productivity • Continuing to choose yourself even when life feels overwhelming • What healing actually looks like in real life Remember: You don’t have to have it all figured out to keep moving forward. Sometimes FINDING her simply means refusing to abandon yourself on the hard days.
