ALTR is a play on two words: Alter & Altar To Alter — verb; to change, to transform Altar — noun; a place of devotion Put together, the idea behind this show is devotion to transformation. I'm obsessed with those moments where someone’s story changed direction. Because the seasons that change us the most are often the ones we didn’t ask for, and so many of the experiences that feel the most personal, are actually incredibly universal. The feel is like if Carrie Bradshaw’s column from Sex and the City existed today as a podcast, mixed with the reflective stoicism from Brianna Wiest.

    EP 018 Community (series): the fake sugar of friendship

    We all say we want more community. But do we actually want the inconvenience that comes with it? Because real community isn’t just brunch, group chats, and liking each other’s Instagram stories. It’s asking for help. Showing up when it’s inconvenient. Making the random invite. Letting people need you—and letting yourself need them. In this episode, we’re talking about why so many of us feel lonely despite being constantly “connected,” how hyper-independence has quietly made our lives smaller, and why you can’t keep waiting for your village to magically appear. If you want a village, you have to be willing to be a villager.

    Astrology Forecast: Venus Station Rx in Scorpio

    Venus is stationing retrograde in Scorpio, so naturally we’re all being invited to stare directly at the parts of ourselves we’d usually prefer to keep in the basement. This episode explores what Venus retrograde can bring up around relationships, values, desire, envy, intimacy, shame, and vulnerability—and why jealousy might actually be useful information about what we secretly want for ourselves. We’ll talk about where this transit is showing up for each rising sign, what themes may be resurfacing from the end of August, and how to work with the next 40 days instead of trying to emotionally speed-run our way out of them. Basically: if something uncomfortable keeps coming back up, maybe it’s not here to ruin your day. Maybe it’s here because there’s something you haven’t been honest enough with yourself about yet.

    Astrology Forecast: Aries Full Moon

    This week’s astrology forecast is basically a cosmic reality check. With a Full Moon in Aries sitting between Neptune and Saturn, we’re being asked to look at the gap between what we want to be true and what’s actually true—and, unfortunately, Saturn would like to know what we’re planning to do about it. Add Mars squaring Chiron, and old wounds around worth, visibility, vulnerability, and taking action can get activated, especially when we’re trying to move forward but still letting an old version of ourselves call the shots. We’ll break down what this energy could look like for each rising sign, from relationships and career to money, health, family, and the deeply annoying realization that sometimes something actually does need to change.

    EP 017 Confronting Avoidance: you want the thing, but do you want what it requires?

    We talk a lot about the life we want—the relationship, the friendships, the job, the lifestyle, the version of ourselves we’re becoming. But we don’t always want to talk about what that life actually requires from us. This week is basically a confrontation with avoidance: we say we want intimacy, but please don’t trigger me. We want a new job, but I’d like to keep my old one too. We want personal growth, preferably without the uncomfortable part. So this week we’re talking the ways we disguise avoidance as boundaries or “knowing what’s right for us." Sometimes we’re not stuck—we’re just avoiding the part where we actually have to do something differently.

    Astrology Forecast 9/14 - 9/20

    This week, Venus moves from Libra into Scorpio, shifting the focus in our relationships from “How do we make this work?” to “Okay, but what is actually going on here?” We’re getting a little less interested in presenting our closing arguments and a little more interested in understanding what’s underneath the conflict—what we’re protecting, what we actually need, and why the same conversation keeps somehow finding a new way to happen. With the Virgo New Moon, we’re also being asked to turn those realizations into actual practices, because “we need to communicate better” is a lovely sentiment but, unfortunately, not a communication strategy. Then we’ll take a look at how all of this plays out for each rising sign.

    EP 016 Conflict (series): what happens when we need to be understood

    What if half of our conflicts aren’t actually about being right, but about needing to be understood? In this episode, I’m talking about the difference between wanting someone to understand us and genuinely wanting to understand them—and how easily conflict can turn into two people presenting closing arguments instead of actually listening. We get into defensiveness, emotional safety, the pursue/withdraw feedback loop, and what happens when we stop trying to prove our intentions and get curious about the other person’s experience instead.

Sometimes we genuinely need to slow down; sometimes fear has simply put on a very convincing little wisdom costume. So this week, we’re looking at where you might be holding yourself back, what your resistance is actually trying to tell you, and whether it’s time to be patient—or finally admit you’re not “fine.”

    EP 015 Being Cringe: why trying feels so embarrassing

    What if the thing keeping you stuck isn’t a lack of ambition, but the fear of being seen trying? In this episode, we’re talking about the shame of wanting something badly enough that other people might witness you pursuing it—and what happens when self-protection starts masquerading as prudence. Through the lens of Mars square Saturn and Jupiter in Leo, we explore the fear of being cringe, failing publicly, changing your mind, being bad at something, or simply admitting what you really want. What would happen if you stopped requiring your desires to be defensible before allowing yourself to have them? And what if being seen isn’t about becoming more public, but becoming more honest about the things that light you up?
