GIRL… LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT PHOEBE

Girl… who was Phoebe, and why did the Apostle Paul personally recommend her to the believers in Rome? We only get two verses about Phoebe, but girlfriend, there's more to discover than you might think! In Episode 21 of Eve's Drop, we're traveling back to the early church to meet a woman from Cenchrea whose name appears at the beginning of Romans 16. Phoebe wasn't introduced through a dramatic miracle, a family crisis, or a conversation with Jesus. She was introduced through Paul's personal recommendation. And what he said about her deserves a closer look. We're exploring Phoebe's world, the important role relationships played in the early church, and the fascinating possibility that she was entrusted with delivering Paul's letter to the Romans. And wait until we get to our Real Tea ☕! Two Greek words—diakonos and prostatis—give us a deeper understanding of how Paul described this remarkable woman. Was Phoebe simply helping out, or have we been overlooking the significance of her contribution? This episode reminds us that some of the most fascinating stories in Scripture belong to people whose names we almost read right past. Because sometimes, girlfriend… two verses are enough to make us want to know the whole story. 📖 Scripture: Romans 16:1–2 (NKJV) 🎙️ Between The Verses — Real Talk. Girl… Let Me Tell You About Lydia

Lydia is often introduced as “the seller of purple.” But girlfriend… that was just her day job. When we meet Lydia in Acts 16, she isn’t in crisis. Her life isn’t falling apart. She’s working, managing a household, worshiping God, and showing up with other women at a place of prayer. Then one ordinary Sabbath by the river changes everything. In Episode 20 of Eve’s Drop, we’re looking beyond Lydia’s purple cloth to discover the woman herself—a woman from Thyatira living in Philippi, involved in commerce, spiritually seeking, willing to listen, and ready to respond when the Lord opens her heart. And what happens next is bigger than Lydia. Her household is baptized. Her home opens to Paul and his companions. And by the end of Acts 16, believers are gathering at Lydia’s house. But there’s some real tea hiding in the journey that brought Paul to her. Paul had been prevented from preaching in Asia—the very region Lydia came from. Then he sees a Macedonian man in a vision telling him to come to Macedonia. Paul crosses the sea, arrives in Philippi…and finds women praying by the river. One of them is Lydia. Paul knew the direction. God knew the details. This episode is for the woman who has already built something, established something, or created a life that works—and is discovering that God doesn’t always ask you to tear it down and start over. Sometimes He opens your heart…and then shows you what He can do with what you already have. 📖 Scripture: Acts 16:6–15; Acts 16:40 (NKJV) 🎙️ Between The Verses — Real Talk. Girl… Let Me Tell You About the Mama Who Wouldn’t Give Up

We know her as the Canaanite woman—the woman who talked about crumbs and whose faith Jesus called great. But who was she before that moment? In Episode 19 of Eve’s Drop, we’re looking beyond the familiar exchange to meet the woman behind it: a Gentile mother with a daughter suffering at home, who heard Jesus was nearby and decided to go looking for Him. She crossed cultural and religious boundaries. She approached Jesus calling Him “Lord, Son of David.” She endured silence. She stayed focused when the disciples wanted the situation resolved. And when Jesus gave her an illustration about children, bread, and little dogs, she listened closely enough to respond with an answer that revealed just how sharp—and how strong—her faith really was. This wasn't simply a woman who refused to take no for an answer. She was a mother advocating for her daughter. A woman who knew more than we sometimes give her credit for. A woman who was humble without disappearing, bold without becoming entitled, and confident that even what seemed like a crumb from Jesus was enough for the biggest problem in her home. And there’s something significant about the fact that Matthew deliberately calls her a Canaanite—an ancient designation loaded with history—before Jesus looks at this outsider and declares: “O woman, great is your faith!” Girlfriend, there is more to this woman than the crumbs. Let’s talk about her. 📖 Scripture: Matthew 15:21–28; Mark 7:24–30 (NKJV) 🎙️ Between The Verses — Real Talk. Real Faith. with Kelli LaVerne Real Talk. Real Faith. Girl... Let Me Tell You About Martha!

We’ve all heard it before: “Don’t be a Martha.” But what if we’ve been reducing Martha to one overwhelmed moment in the kitchen and missing the rest of her story? In Episode 18 of Eve’s Drop, we’re looking at the whole Martha—the woman who welcomed Jesus into her home, got distracted by serving, spoke honestly when she was frustrated, faced the devastating loss of her brother Lazarus, and made one of the strongest declarations of faith in the Gospels. Because Martha wasn’t just busy. She was hospitable. Practical. Outspoken. Grieving. Faith-filled. And yes… she was a woman who served. And here’s what makes her story even more interesting: after Jesus corrected Martha for being distracted by serving, we later find her serving again. So maybe serving was never the problem. Maybe Martha needed to learn that being capable doesn’t mean everything has to rest on her. We’re walking through Martha’s story in Luke 10, John 11, and John 12—and looking at what happens when the woman who is used to handling everything encounters situations she simply cannot handle. If you’re the dependable one…the responsible one…the one everybody knows will get it done…pull up a chair. Because girlfriend, Martha’s story may sound a little more familiar than you expected. 📖 Scripture: Luke 10:38–42; John 11:1–44; John 12:1–8 (NKJV) 🎙️ Between The Verses — Real Talk. Girl… Let Me Tell You About the Woman at the Well

We all know her as “The Woman at the Well.” And for generations, we’ve heard her story reduced to one detail: she had five husbands. But girlfriend… there is so much more to this woman. In this episode of Eve’s Drop, we’re slowing down and having the whole conversation. What might an ordinary day have looked like for a Samaritan woman responsible for gathering water? Why was Jesus speaking to her such a big deal? What do we actually know about those five husbands—and what have we assumed that Scripture never says? We’ll look at the history between the Jews and Samaritans, the cultural boundaries Jesus crossed, her knowledge of Scripture and worship, her questions about the Messiah, and what happened when a woman who came to a well for water walked back into town with something much bigger. Because this woman wasn’t spiritually clueless. She was thoughtful. She asked questions. She knew her history. She was waiting for the Messiah. And after one conversation at a well, her testimony helped bring an entire town to Jesus. So before we reduce her to her relationship history, let’s go back to John 4 and listen to what she actually had to say. Because, girl… we may have missed the whole conversation. 📖 Scripture: John 4:1–42 (NKJV) 📚 Featured Book: I'M NOT BROKEN. Special Episode Part 2 - Light the Lamp: Dinah, the Lost Coin, and the Ones We Still Need to Find

What does a young woman in Genesis 34... and a woman searching for a lost coin in Luke 15... have to do with each other and how do it apply today? More than you might think. In Part 2 of this special Light the Lamp episode, we move beyond Dinah's story and discover how Jesus' parable of the lost coin gives us a powerful picture of God's heart for those who are missing, overlooked, and waiting to be found. While Dinah's story reminds us that women have experienced violence and injustice since biblical times, the woman with the lamp shows us how God's people are called to respond—not by looking away, but by searching, caring, praying, and refusing to forget. This episode also introduces 🏮 Light the Lamp, a new initiative dedicated to raising awareness for missing women and children, with a special focus on Black women and children whose cases are too often underreported, overlooked, or forgotten. While every missing person matters, we believe no family should feel invisible, and no name should quietly fade from memory. In this episode, we'll explore: • The connection between Dinah's story and today's missing women and children • Why Jesus chose a woman searching for a lost coin to reveal God's heart • What it means to "Light the Lamp" in our communities • Practical ways we can pray, advocate, share verified information, and keep hope alive for families still searching • Why every name deserves to be remembered Because when something precious goes missing... Love doesn't look away. Love lights a lamp. Welcome back to Eve's Drop — Listening in on the women between the verses. Real Talk. Real Faith.  From Sunday to Monday. 💭 Between The Verses — Real Talk. Girl… Let Me Tell You About Mary Magdalene: The Woman Who Stayed

What if the woman most people remember for her past is actually one of the greatest examples of faithful discipleship in the Gospels? In this episode of Between The Verses — Real Talk. Real Faith with Kelli LaVerne, we take a closer look at Mary Magdalene—not the version shaped by tradition or Hollywood, but the woman Scripture actually introduces to us. Before we begin, we clear up one of the biggest misconceptions surrounding her identity. The Bible never says Mary Magdalene was a prostitute. Instead, it introduces her as a woman Jesus delivered from deep spiritual bondage—and from that moment on, her life became a picture of unwavering devotion. But that's only the beginning. Mary Magdalene didn't just experience freedom—she built her life around the One who set her free. She supported Jesus' ministry, remained faithful when others walked away, stood at the cross, witnessed His burial, returned to the tomb while it was still dark, and became the first person entrusted with the message of the resurrection. Her story isn't just about where she started. It's about Who found her. It's about staying close after you've been healed. And it's about discovering that God doesn't define you by your darkest chapter—He can trust you with His greatest message. In this episode, we'll explore: • The truth about who Mary Magdalene was—and wasn't • Why her past has often been misunderstood • What it means to live after deliverance • The difference between being healed and becoming devoted • Why she stayed when others left • The significance of Jesus calling her by name • Why she became the first witness of the resurrection • What her story teaches us about faithfulness, identity, and purpose today Because here's the truth: Your past may explain where you've been... But it doesn't get to introduce who you are. Welcome back to Eve's Drop — Listening in on the women between the verses. Real Talk. Real Faith. From Sunday to Monday. 💭 Between The Verses — Real Talk.
