Why Did Jesus Choose the Unimpressive Apostle? Philip, John 1:43-46 | G. Campbell Morgan Sermon Breakdown

Why did Jesus choose Philip, the apostle Matthew, Mark and Luke say almost nothing about? In John 1:43-46 Jesus goes looking for him and says, "Follow me." The Great Physician, G. Campbell Morgan Sermon Breakdown Pt 6: Matt Hepner and TopLobsta read Morgan's chapter on Philip. Morgan calls Philip a quiet, unimpressive man, "slow in the uptake," who would not argue but simply said "come and see." We follow every scene John gives us: Jesus finding Philip (John 1:43-46), the question about bread for the five thousand that Jesus asked "to prove him" (John 6:5-7), the Greeks who said "Sir, we would see Jesus" (John 12:20-24), and Philip's cry in the upper room, "shew us the Father" (John 14:8-9). Along the way: did you find God or did God find you, Daniel's ten-day test, the pagan general's "for how many do you count me?", and why Jesus needed more than twelve Peters. What Does Wood, Hay and Stubble Mean?

What does wood, hay and stubble mean? In 1 Corinthians 3:1-23 (KJV), Paul lays the only foundation, Jesus Christ, and warns that every man's work shall be tried by fire. 1 Corinthians Part 4 (Corinthians for Dummies) with Matt Hepner and the Raven: ministers, God's building, and ye are the temple of God. Matt and the Raven pick up in 1 Corinthians 3 with brethren who are still babes, then Romans 8, Galatians 5 and Paul's arrival in Corinth (Acts 18). Next: what a minister really is, Paul planting and Apollos watering, and labourers together with God. Then the only foundation, Jesus Christ, gold, silver and precious stones versus wood, hay and stubble, and every man's work tried by fire. They close on the temple of God, what it means to defile it, and why the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. How God Opened the Prison Doors | Stacks Farmstead on Straight Bible

Stacks Farmstead tells how God opened the prison doors: from an abandoned Pittsburgh street kid and five years locked up to an off-grid farm. An Interview Session with Matt Hepner on stealing cars at 14, not caring if he lived or died, forgiving his parents, and fixing what happened generationally. Stacks grew up in Pittsburgh, abandoned and neglected, and turned to the streets at 14, stealing cars for a chop shop. He tells Matt he simply didn't care about life or death: 90 days in county jail for refusing a fine, selling drugs inside, then five years after beating up a deputy sheriff. Praying every night that he didn't want to live, he was told he was going home within 24 to 48 hours, and he says only God can explain it. From there: gutting houses, the electrical union, a house bought from a biker, an off-grid house built from job-site scrap, forgiving his parents, and the Bible habits he's building now. Does Judge Not Mean Never Judge? Matthew 7:1-5 (KJV) | Sermon on the Mount

Does "judge not" mean Christians should never judge? Matthew 7:1-5 (KJV): judge not, that ye be not judged, and the mote and the beam. Sermon on the Mount Pt 30: Matt Hepner and TopLobsta take Jesus' words on judging verse by verse, and where the Bible says we must judge. We start with the Greek word for judge, krino, and read verse 1 alongside verses 6 and 7 (it is written, it is also written, Matthew 4). Then: with what measure ye mete (Luke 6:35-38), the woman taken in adultery (John 8:1-11), you condemn yourself (Romans 2:1-6) and vengeance is mine (Romans 12:19). Next, where Christians must judge: inside the church (1 Corinthians 5, 1 Timothy 6), ourselves before communion (1 Corinthians 11) and righteous judgment (John 7:24). We close on the mote and the beam and Isaiah's "woe is me." Next week picks up at verse 6. [Re-Air] What Are the Beatitudes? Matthew 5:1-12 (KJV) | Sermon on the Mount

Re-air: originally released April 24, 2026. Original episode: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/what-are-the-beatitudes-matthew-5-1-12-kjv-sermon-on-the-mount--71618237 What are the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:1-12 (KJV)? Jesus saw the multitudes but taught His disciples the character of a kingdom that is not of this world. Sermon on the Mount Pt 1, hosted by Matt Hepner and TopLobsta. The start of the Sermon on the Mount study. Jesus saw the multitudes but taught His disciples, a remnant who would carry it to everyone as salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16). The disciples still asked, "wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?" (Acts 1:6), which Matt compares to Christian nationalism today, but Jesus told Pilate, "My kingdom is not of this world" (John 18:36). The Beatitudes describe the character of that kingdom's citizens, not a checklist, and "blessed" at its core means happy. After reading Matthew 5:1-12 the episode covers the first three: poor in spirit, they that mourn (James 4:4-10), and the meek, who know they are part of a bigger story. The examples are Abram letting Lot choose (Genesis 13:1-9), David sparing Saul (1 Samuel 24:1-7), and Moses, "very meek" (Numbers 12:3), pleading "blot me... out of thy book" (Exodus 32:32). Does Pentecost Still Happen Today? Acts 2:1-8 (KJV) | A.W. Tozer Sermon Breakdown

Does Pentecost still happen today? In Acts 2:1-8 (KJV), A.W. Tozer separates what can never be repeated from what came at Pentecost and stayed. A.W. Tozer Sermon Breakdown Pt 4: Matt Hepner and TopLobsta read Tozer's "The Promised Comforter, the Holy Spirit: Permanency of Pentecost!" Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/nZfbeNpXM04?u... After reading Acts 2:1-8, we get Tozer's line: no repetition of Pentecost, but a perpetuation of it. The rushing mighty wind was a sound (Acts 2:2, John 3:8), the cloven tongues of fire sat on each of them (Acts 2:3), and none of it was ever repeated. What stayed is the Comforter, who makes Jesus Christ real: Peter's sermon (Acts 2:33-36), power from on high (Luke 24:49) and why the Holy Spirit was not named after dynamite. Then Satan's dead crow in God's cornfield, the church called to live above her own ability, and Moses: if you don't go with us, I'm not going (Exodus 33:15).
