Grey Hair, Grey Blending and What You Really Need to Know

I started going grey in my twenties. And I wasn't old! I've always liked calling my grey hairs my experience lines. But when I decided to grow my natural grey out, I discovered something interesting. It wasn't actually the grey that bothered me. I loved the grey! It was the darker hair growing in between. And it made me wonder how many other women feel the same way without realising exactly what it is about their hair that they want to change. Grey blending has become incredibly popular, and the beautiful silver and blonde transformations we see online can be so tempting. But what does grey blending actually involve? Is it suitable for everyone? And is it really as low maintenance as it looks? In this episode of Quiet Mirror Moments™, I'm drawing on my experience as a hair expert and master colourist to explore the science behind grey hair, why natural pigment, colour history and hair condition matter so much, and why no two women should have exactly the same colour plan. I'm also talking about realistic expectations, the importance of a proper consultation and the choices we have when deciding whether to cover, blend or grow out our grey. Because sometimes it's not about changing everything. Sometimes it's simply about understanding what we're looking at in the mirror and what would make us feel more like ourselves. Whether you're noticing your first grey hairs, considering grey blending or thinking about growing out your natural colour, I hope this conversation helps you understand your options and make a choice that feels right for you. Your hair. Your choice. Your Self Expression. 🤍 Deborah Hair Expert • Master Colourist • Self Image Mentor Quietly Confident Women™

Finding Your Personal Style at Any Age

When was the last time you wore something that made you feel absolutely wonderful? Perhaps your personal style has changed over the years. The clothes you once loved no longer feel quite right, your body has changed, or you've found yourself wondering whether you're too old to wear something you genuinely love. But who decided what we should look like at a certain age? In this episode of Quiet Mirror Moments™, we're talking about the joy of personal style, from beautiful clothes, hair and makeup to discovering what makes you feel good in the life you're living today. I share a story from my early days as a hairdresser, when we were taught that women should cut their hair short once they reached 40, and how my own style has changed through different stages and experiences in my life. We also explore the relationship between personal style and Self Image, how other people's opinions can influence the way we present ourselves, and why looking confident on the outside doesn't always mean we feel that way on the inside. Because finding your personal style isn't about following every fashion trend, dressing to impress others or looking perfect every day. It's about discovering what you genuinely love, whether that's a beautiful dress, your favourite jeans, a new hairstyle, a little lipstick or a day spent in your pyjamas. Your personal style is allowed to change. And your age doesn't determine how you should express yourself. Perhaps the next time you look in the mirror, instead of asking whether you look the way you're supposed to look, you can ask yourself something much simpler: Do I feel like me? 🤍 Deborah Quietly Confident Women™

I Know I Need to Change Things in My Life, But How?

You already know there are things in your life you want to change. The frustrating part is knowing how to actually begin. Maybe you know you put everyone else first. You know you say yes when you really want to say no. You know you want to feel better about yourself, make more time for yourself, change your circumstances or change the relationship you have with yourself. You don't necessarily need somebody else to point it out. You already know. But what do you actually do with that? In this episode of Quiet Mirror Moments™, I'm talking about the difference between knowing something needs to change and knowing how to begin changing it — especially when real life gets in the way. Because we're whole women. We have bodies that don't always cooperate, work, bills, relationships, responsibilities, hormones, health, lack of sleep and things happening in our lives that nobody else may even know about. And having a good relationship with yourself doesn't mean waking up every morning loving everything you see in the mirror, feeling positive or getting everything right. Sometimes my hair looks like Hagrid. Sometimes I notice another wrinkle. Sometimes I don't feel like making an effort at all. And none of that means I've failed at having a good relationship with myself. So rather than asking ourselves to change everything, perhaps there's somewhere much smaller — and much more realistic — to begin. How do I want to feel today? What helps me feel that way? And what can I actually do from where I am? Not when you've lost the weight. Not when you have more money. Not when life calms down. Not when your circumstances have changed. From where you are now. Because perhaps changing the relationship you have with yourself doesn't begin with changing everything. Perhaps it begins with including yourself in the life you're already living. 🤍 DeborahQuietly Confident Women™

Why You React Before You’ve Had Time to Think

Have you ever received a message that immediately sparks something in you — annoyance, frustration, hurt — and found yourself replying before you’ve really had time to think? Or perhaps you’re simply having a difficult day, only to find yourself judging yourself because you can’t seem to “stay positive”. In this episode of Quiet Mirror Moments™, I’m talking about what happens when life stirs something in us, and the difference between reacting from an emotion and giving ourselves enough space to respond. Because changing the relationship we have with ourselves doesn’t mean we stop getting upset, worried, frustrated or hurt. It doesn’t mean we should always be positive. And it certainly doesn’t mean we have to handle every difficult situation perfectly. Sometimes we’re just stuck in the mud. We explore why pausing before responding can completely change the outcome of a difficult conversation, the questions I’ve learnt to ask myself when something gets under my skin, and what happens when the thing worrying us is something we simply cannot control. I also share why human connection has felt particularly important to me lately, and how a conversation with a friend, a kind message, having your hair done or simply doing something that makes you feel good can help widen your perspective. Not because the difficult thing has disappeared. But because it isn’t the only thing happening in your life. This is a conversation about emotional reactions, staying positive when life feels hard, Self Image, awareness, human connection, Beauty and Self Expression, Lifestyle and Wellbeing, and learning to treat yourself with a little more kindness on the days when you’re not okay. 🤍 DeborahQuietly Confident Women™

The Conversations You Keep Replaying in Your Head

Do you ever find yourself replaying a conversation in your head hours, days or even months after it happened? Something your partner said. A comment from a parent. A conversation with a friend. Someone questioning your appearance, your choices or something you're working towards. And suddenly you're having the whole conversation again. Why did they say that? Was I wrong? Why can't they see it the way I do? Is what they said actually true about me? In this episode of Quiet Mirror Moments™, I explore why these seemingly small experiences can have such a powerful effect on our confidence and Self Image, and why awareness can change the way we respond to them. Because the experiences we have in our lives can shape the relationship we have with ourselves. And the relationship we have with ourselves shapes the way we experience our lives. We also look at how this relationship shows up across our whole lives — in our thoughts and Mindset, in Beauty and Self Expression, and in our Lifestyle and Wellbeing. From noticing the thoughts that appear when we look at our changing bodies in the mirror, to becoming more aware of what our bodies need, to recognising when someone else's opinion has quietly started influencing the way we see ourselves. This isn't about pretending other people's words don't hurt. It's about noticing what happens inside us when they do. And perhaps asking: Is what was said actually true to who I am? Or have I been carrying somebody else's interpretation of me without ever stopping long enough to question it? A quiet conversation about Self Image, confidence, Self Expression, body image, awareness, ageing, wellbeing and learning to notice yourself again. 🤍 DeborahQuietly Confident Women™
